Thelma M. Mrock

Thelma M. Mrock, 77 of Monroe and formerly of St. Johns, died at 8:12 a.m. Sunday at the home of her daughter, Delores Tressel. Mrs. Mrock had been seriously ill for a week.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Rupp Funeral Home. She will lie in state from 9 a.m. until services at 10 a.m. Thursday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. The Rev. Michael Dable, pastor of the church, and the Rev. Russ McCoy, pastor of Mount Hope St. Johns' Family Church, Saint Johns, will officiate. Burial will be in Macon Cemetery, Macon Township.

Born March 28, 1927 in Monroe, she was the daughter of George and Eva (Smith) Thompson. She married Roy Jennings Aug. 28, 1944. She later married Roy Mrock April 29, 1967 Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her husband; two sons, Gary Jennings of Newport and Lee Roy Jennings of Ypsilanti; two daughters, Pamela Windels of Monroe and Delores (Mark) Tressel of Linden; a stepson, Richard Mrock of Carleton; three brothers, Kenneth (Geraldine) and Dale (Sally) both of LaSalle, and Gerald of Ironwood; a sister, Margaret (Jay) Nation-Shopshire of Monroe; 20 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.

Loretta M. Locher

Loretta M. Locher,  DeWitt, MI Formerly of Jacksonville, IL Loretta was born to Clyde Loux and his wife Charlotte on August 20, 1922 in Jacksonville, IL. She spent her early childhood there until her family moved to St. Johns/DeWitt area in 1937. She graduated from Rodney B. Wilson High School in 1940 and pursued a career in Business, earning a degree from the Lansing Business University. She married Max Locher on August 18, 1943. Together they spent their married life on the family farm in DeWitt. Loretta loved to dance. She never missed a day of tending to her garden and making the "catch of the day" was her favorite sport. Cooking was her specialty, but the thing that she was best at was taking care of her family.

Loretta was fondest of her sons, Gary Locher and Randall Locher and their wives, Linda and Michelle Locher. The pride and joy of her life were her grandchildren and great-grandchild, Melinda and husband Matthew Jones, Megan Locher and Marcus Jones. Also especially dear to Loretta's heart is her little sister, Dorothy Bullard and her husband, Floyd who are currently residing in Yuba City, CA.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Gorsline-Runciman Co., DeWitt Chapel, 111 S. Franklin St., DeWitt, MI. The family will receive friends at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. DeWitt Chapel on Wednesday from 3-5 and 7-9. Interment will be held in DeWitt Cemetery. Robert J. Chaffee, 81, retired Michigan Milk Producer Association (Ovid) employee, died Saturday.

Memorial services 1 p.m. Sept. 25 at United Church of Ovid. Arrangements by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.

Scott Lee Heeney

Scott Lee Heeney age 42 of Elsie, Michigan died Thursday, September 2, 2004. Scott was born in Lansing, Michigan on May 21, 1962 the son of Paul Ross & Barbara Jean ( Langkamp ) Heeney. He graduated from Laingsburg High School with the class of 1980. He was employed at C & D Hughes Construction in Potterville. Scott resided most of his life in Elsie, Michigan

He is survived by his 4 children, Brianna, Ryan, Dylan & Shaila Heeney of Elsie, MI, parents Paul & Barb Heeney of St. Johns, MI, 2 brothers Paul Heeney of Owosso, MI, Jeff Heeney of Ovid, MI, & 2 Nephews Jeffrey & Justin Heeney of Ovid, MI. He is predeceased by his grandparents.

There will be no visitation and no services. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.

The Urbanik Family

Diane Urbanik was born on August 24, 1948 in Clinton County. She completed her bachelor's degree at Michigan State University. She then became a claims administrator with the Social Security Administration for 30 years where she became known as a "jewel of the department."

She is survived by: daughter Andrea Miles; two granddaughters, Kenya and Monica Miles; one son; parents, Genevieve and Jerome Thelen; 8 brothers, Paul (Ann), Luke (Jane), Lawrence (Ellen), William (Deborah), Philip, Stanley (Patti), Dennis (Dianna); many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Tony was born in March of 1947. He attended Central Michigan University until he was drafted into the US Army. Tony spent most of his career in the automotive industry. Most recently he served at Lexus of Lansing where he became known as "Uncle Tony" due to his honesty and loyalty to customers. He was very active as a Boy Scout Leader for many years and got his son Anthony involved also. He was preceded in death by: his parents Anthony and Lucy Anne Urbanik, and his brother Michael. He is survived by his beloved "Aunt Ann". Anthony was born on October 23, 1990 in Lansing. He was looking forward to attending East Lansing High School this fall. He had a black belt in karate and was involved in Boy Scouts and his church youth group. He enjoyed making people laugh by sharing one of his latest jokes with his family and many friends. He was loved by his classmates and is known as someone who was always thoughtful of other peoples needs. Diane, Tony and Anthony participated in Mt. Hope Church. Their faithful service to others in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has been appreciated and assures us that we will, once again, enjoy their company in Heaven.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday September 7, 2004 at the Mt. Hope Assemblies of God Church, 202 S. Creyts Rd. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, and at Mt. Hope Church from 12 to 1 p.m. on Tuesday before the funeral service.

There will also be brief Catholic service on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Urbanik Educational Trust Fund.
