Richard E. Green, Sr., died Tuesday, October 12, 2004 at the age of 81. He was born on July 29, 1923 in Lansing, the son of Charles William and Anna Lucena (Underhill) Green. He retired from the Michigan Liquor Control in 1982, was a WWII Veteran and member of the American Legion and 40et8. Richard married Margaret Jeannette Estes on February 1, 1958 and she survives him. Also surviving are sons, Richard (Judy) Green, Jr. of Bay City and Robert (Rosemary) Green of St. Johns, four grandchildren, Jameison (Kim) Green of Fort Wayne, IN, Brian (Lori) Green of Cincinatti, OH, Suzanne (Jeff) Robinson of St. Johns and Ryan (fiancee, Meaghan Hollywood) Green of New Jersey, five great-grandchildren and one sister, Argene Hunter of Arcadia, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, Charles W. Green, Jr. The family will hold private services. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorials to the United Way. Arrangements by the Osgood Funeral Home. Ronald R. Ruvolo age 68 of St. Johns, Michigan died Sunday, October 10, 2004 at the University of Michigan Hospital, Ann Arbor, Michigan. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday October 13, 2004 at 1:00 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns, Michigan. Rev. Tim Knaus will officiate with burial at Mount Rest Cemetery, St. Johns, Michigan. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 12, 2004 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Ronald was born in Decatur, Illinois on July 29, 1936 the son of Joseph R. & Bessie May ( Sapp ) Ruvolo. His childhood was spent in California. He then joined the Navy and traveled. He came to St. Johns in July of 1976 after retiring from the Navy. Ronald married Elizabeth DeGeer in Las Vegas on June 27, 1964. He loved fishing, yard work, football and baseball. Ronald is survived by his wife Elizabeth Ruvolo of St. Johns, MI, 2 daughters Marie & Jim Orr of Elsie, MI, & Dottie & Gary Green of St. Johns, MI, 4 granddaughters Jessica Ball, Katie Beracy, Kayla Beracy, Stephanie Green, 1 great grandson Braden Ball, many nieces & nephews as well as brothers & sisters-in-law. He is predeceased by his parents, mother & father-in-law, and 2 brothers-in-law. Memorials may be made to the family. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel. Carol Ann Kelley Carol is survived by her husband of 57 years, Robert Kelley; Two Daughters; Five Grandchildren; and Thirteen Great Grandchildren. 3:00 P.M. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 1801 W. Plano Pkwy., Plano, TX. In lieu of flowers,

GA 30350-7526. Ruby K. Slagel died Sunday, October 10, 2004 at the age of 91. She was born on August 19, 1913 in Wayland, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer J. and Sarah W. (Conrad) Slagel. She was a live-in housekeeper for the Dow family of Midland for many years. Ruby is survived by her brothers and sisters, Warren
(Vernelda) Slagel of Wayland, Iowa, Roger (Donna) Slagel of Jupiter, Florida, Anna (Roy)
Walker of Coleman, Michigan, Betty (Stanley) Snyder of Lansing, Evelyn (Clayton) Sharick
of Mesa, Arizona, Max (Mary) Slagel of Ithaca, and Carol Hershberger of Tequesta, Florida,
and many nieces/nephews. In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by three
sisters, Doris Larkin, Lucille Jolls and Fern Yoder and one brother, Allen Slagel. Julius Edward Keusch, a very loving father, passed away October 9, 2004. He was born on April 26, 1926 to John and Mary (Miller) Keusch. He left high school early to join the service and fought in WWII. He returned home and married Wyona Cole and raised seven children. He worked with his family and built many homes in Lansing and the Dewitt area. He enjoyed going to Houghton Lake and being with his many friends. Later in life, he spent his time taking care of Wyona and visiting his family. He was a founding member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Ovid and enjoyed spending time working on many projects for the church. He is survived by his wife, Wyona, sister, Virginia
(Kenneth) Sanborn, brother, Robert (Gertie) Keusch, daughters, Karen (John) Symanski and
Konnie (John) VanGeertruy, sons, Konrad (Cindy) Keusch, Karl (Mary) Keusch, Kenneth
(Debra) Keusch and Keith (Cindy) Keusch, 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He
was prececed in death by one son, Kris Keusch and 2 brothers, William and Clement Keusch. Herta A. Lehmann, St. Johns, MI went to be with God on October 8, 2004. She was born on February 14, 1918 in Wuppertal, Germany. Loving mother and grandmother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gunter Lehmann. Surviving are: son, Dennis (Denise) Lehmann; granddaughter, Heather as well as other family in Germany, Florida and Michigan. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday,

Chapel. Ervin A. Leik, Westphalia, MI Age 86, passed away on Friday, October 8, 2004. He was born on December 12, 1917 in Westphalia Township, MI the son of John and Mary Rosalene (Alldredge) Leik. He married the former Leona Catherine Smith on May 3, 1939 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Westphalia. Mr. Leik owned a portable milling business for 19 years in Charlotte, MI, and retired from Aluminum Products Division in Charlotte in 1982. Ervin and his family were residents of Charlotte for 40 years, moving back to Westphalia in 1986. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter Mary Louise; siblings, Lillian Fernholz, Viola Hale, Elmer Leik, Frederick Leik, Joseph Leik, Louise Hernandez, Robert Leik. He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Leona (Smith) Leik of Westphalia; children, Carol Jean (Dale) Hicks of Livingston, TX, Helen (Steven) Boichot of Lansing, Roger (Barbara) Leik of Adrian, and Daniel Leik of Newport News, VA; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Anna Ponder of Ovid; many nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Cecilio Reyna, Pastor at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 11, 2004 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Westphalia. Rite of Committal will take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Westphalia. The family will receive friends at the St. Mary Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Kathryn Elaine Toots Sovereign died October 7, 2004 at the age of 72. She was born in Marlette, Michigan on December 19, 1931, the daughter of Daniel and Frances (Adams) Kreiner. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Ladies Altar Society. Surviving are her children, Rick (Sharon) Sovereign of Canton, MI, Annette (David) Young of Green Valley, Arizona, Mary (Mark) Mercer of St. Johns, Reneé (Greg) Lewis of St. Johns, Tim Sovereign of Pinckney, Rhonda (Scott) Chamberlain and Tom (Julie) Sovereign, all of St. Johns, eleven grandchildren, Tonya (Richmond) Davis, Benji (Amy) Sovereign, April (Sean) Nobach, Marc Mercer, Kathryn, Heather & Danny Lewis, Tommy & Gracie Sovereign, Emily & Anthony Chamberlain and 3 great grandchildren, Ethan & Eli Sovereign and Bailey Nobach. Bobby Ross Warr, Ovid, Michigan, age 74, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2004 at home. He was born December 2, 1929 in Chester, South Carolina the son of Maime Raines and Winston Warr. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was retired from Motor Wheel and he was a member of the Owosso Assembly of God Church and First Assembly of God Church, St. Johns. He had served as a church board member, usher, Sunday school teacher, taught scripture at the St. Johns Christian School, was involved in the jail ministry and a Royal Rangers staff member. He and Mary Anne Barrett were married on June 18, 1994. Surviving are his wife, Mary Anne; children, Mike (Brenda) of DeWitt, Robert (Jane) of Lanse, Harold (Nanette) of St. Johns, John of Florida, Cindy Harger, Ruth (Ronald) Johnson of St. Johns, Evelyn Kinch of Lansing, and Claudia (Mark) Pluger of Ovid, sisters, Hazel Thompson and Lillian Steele of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Louise Lee of Columbia, South Carolina, Joyce Black of Dunellon, Florida, 20 grandchildren, special granddaughter, Emily (the little nuisance), 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Helga Niedemeyer Warr; daughter Carol Teems; brother Claude; sisters, Dorothy Rhinehart, Vermelle Markese and Rebecca Strawhorn. Nuser, Big Rapids, MI Formerly of Lansing, MI Age 75, died Monday, October 4, 2004 at his residence. Jim graduated from Lansing Eastern High School in 1949, and was a long-time Lansing area plumber. In 1960, he bought the Roadhouse Restaurant in St. Johns, which he operated for over 20 years. He moved to Big Rapids in 1990. In 1949, he married Rosemarie Baxter, who survives. Also surviving are 2 daughters, Cathy Colthorp of Bradenton, FL and Patricia (Walter) Amick of Englewood, FL; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 8, at
the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids. Memorial contributions may be made to the American
Red Cross for hurricane relief in Florida. Annabelle Marie Faivor
died Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at the age of 73. She was born on February 11, 1931 in
Traverse City, Michigan, the daughter of Joseph and Lottie (Curtis) Dreves. Annabelle
retired from Clinton Bank and was member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Ritas
Guild, past President of St. Joseph Altar Society, a volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul, and
former 4-H leader and judge. She enjoyed attending her grandchildrens sporting
events and music programs, playing card games and loved to make quilts for her family. She
married Charles L. Faivor on July 31, 1954 in Greenville, Michigan, and they recently
celebrated their 50 year anniversary. |
