James Edward Sigmon James Edward Sigmon, DeWitt, MI Age 77, died February 28, 2005. Born August 29, 1927 in Vardaman, Mississippi. Mr. Sigmon grew up in Ore Springs, TN, served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and worked as a Die Sinker for Ford Motor Company. He played in Jamboree's up north and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Diana; parents; sister, Wendy and son-in-law, Paul. Surviving are his wife, Mary Louise; daughter, Debbie Pintarich of DeWitt; 2 sons, Larry (Marlene) Sigmon of St. Johns and Ronnie (Liz) Sigmon of DeWitt; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Bill Sigman of Holt; 2 sisters, Gwen Bertram of Lansing and Yvonne (Jack) DeFoe of DeWitt; special cousin, Gene (Ardin) Keys of Orville, CA. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, March 4, 10:00 a.m. at the Community of St. Jude Catholic Church, 801 N. Bridge, DeWitt with the Rev. Dwight Ezop, Pastor, officiating. The Rite of Committal will follow in DeWitt Cemetery, DeWitt, MI. The family will receive friends at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. DeWitt Chapel, 111 S. Franklin, DeWitt Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with the Scripture Thursday at 7:00 p.m. The family will also receive friends at the Church Friday 1 hour prior to the service. Thelen, Pewamo, MI Age 82, passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2005. She was born on April 28, 1922 in Dallas Twp., MI the daughter of Mathias and Bertha (Schafer) Schueller. Mrs. Thelen was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pewamo, a member of the VFW Post #3733 Folwer, Pewamo and Westphalia Women's Auxiliary, and was a Gold Star Mother. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Otto; son, Robert; daughters, Jeanne Marie and Yvonne; brother, Matt Schueller; grandchildren, James Farley, Nicholas White, Lucinda Keebler and Joseph Thelen; daughters-in-law, Janice Thelen and Peggy Thelen. Surviving are her children, Theresa (James) Farley of Fowler, George (Stella) Thelen of Saginaw, Donald (Marilyn) Thelen of Lansing, Ronald Thelen of Pewamo, Marlene (Donald) White of St. Johns, Terry (Julie) Thelen of Portland, Gerard (Zetta) Thelen of Fowler, Michelle Eisler of Brighton, Ted Thelen of Portland and Rick Thelen of Palm Springs, CA; 22 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Frances Pohl of Portland; brother, Joseph (Sally) Schueller of Westphalia. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Cecilio Reyna and the Rev. Charlon O. Mason, at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 3, 2005 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Westphalia. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Westphalia. The family will receive friends at St. Mary's Funeral Chapel, Westphalia from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. Huhn, Portland, MI Age 54, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2005. He was born on November 25, 1950, in St. Johns, MI, the son of Harold and Irene (Schrauben) Huhn. Larry was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council #2168. He was a Veteran serving in the Vietnam War and was a member of the Portland VFW Post #4090. He has 32 years of service at TRW in Portland and loved playing golf in the Tuesday night league and bowling in the Monday night league. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jaime Huhn; brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Fran Huhn; father-in-law, Ronald Lenneman. Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Diane; children, Christina (Craig) Forist of Portland, and Kevin and David Huhn, both of Portland; 1 granddaughter, Jamelyn Forist; sister, Joanne (Charles) Jegla of St. Johns; 3 brothers, Stanley (Pat) Huhn of Grand Ledge, Ronald (Dawn) Huhn of Lyons, and Dale (Anne) Huhn of Portland; mother-in-law, Dorothy Lenneman of Portland; special godson, John Jegla; several nieces and nephews. Schrauben, Portland, MI Age 72, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, February 23, 2005. He was born on November 23, 1932 in Riley Township, MI the son of Mathias and Mamie (Trierweiler) Schrauben. Mr. Schrauben was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Portland Council #2168. Bill was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Korea, and a member of the Portland V.F.W. Post #4090. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Denise Schrauben; grandson, Justin Schrauben; sisters, Elda Pierce and Marie Beard; brothers, James, Mathias, LaVern and Thomas Schrauben. Arrangements by Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns. Norman E. Nolff, Delta Township, MI Age 73, died in his Lansing home after a long illness. He was a long-time Lansing resident who was well-known in the forging industry. He was born March 2, 1931 in Detroit and moved to Lansing 40 years ago. With an engineering background he began his career as a tool and die maker. He joined the staff of Melling Forging and worked there for 28 years before retiring in 1993 as the firm's sales manager. He had been a member of the Forging Association. In retirement, Norm picked up part-time employment. Ron McCormick, his final employer, stated that Norm was enjoyable to work with. He was knowledgeable and always had something interesting to say while snacking on coffee and cookies. He loved his family and took great pride and joy in them and the grandchildren. He was well liked by his customers and well known for his honesty and integrity. He was a very loving, caring person who helped people. He showed great strength and courage during his illness. Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Joan; daughters, Lisa (David) Koch of Raleigh, N.C., Tami [Hopko] (Bob) Pattison of Elsie, Stephanie [Hopko] (Rob Miller) Henson of Charlotte; sons, David (Diane) of Commerce Twp., Mark (Joanna) of Onstead, Kevin (Susie) of Durham, N.C. and step-son Douglas Crawford of Nashville, TN; 11 grandchildren, Julie, Greg, Mandy, Becky, Josh, Danielle, Maddie, Jon, Katie, Marika, and Scott; 2 great-grandchildren and one brother Robert (Arista) of Brooksville, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Rose (Summers) Nolff, and brothers, William Jr., Donald, James, and Milton. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday,
February 25, 2005 at Immanuel Lutheran Church 501 S. Clinton, Grand Ledge. Leading the
services will be the Rev. Richard McKenzie, Immanuel's pastor, and the Rev. Paul
Pretzlaff, retired Lansing area pastor. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at
Holihan-Atkin Funeral Home, 406 N. Bridge St. Grand Ledge. Inurnment will take place in
the Immanuel Church Memorial. |
