Richard Lee Moore

Richard Lee Moore age 70 of Maple Rapids, MI died Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at Carson City Hospital Carson City, MI.

There will be no Service. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2005 from 4-7 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel.
Richard was born in Ovid, MI on January 15, 1935 the son of Leon Charles and Crystal Pauline ( Teachworth ) Moore. He attended Fulton Schools & Perrinton-Middleton Schools. Richard married Wilma E. Foster on April 2, 1961 in Perrinton, MI. He worked for Oldsmobile retiring as a Truck Driver.

He is survived by his wife Wilma E. Moore of Maple Rapids, 2 sons; Leon R. & Cynthia Moore of Connecticut, Kent W. & Jacci Moore of Ashley, MI, 5 grandchildren, and 3 sisters; Ruth (Walter) Smith of Ashley, MI, Margaret (Keith) Sleper of St. Johns, MI, and Diana (Richard) Barrett of St. Johns, MI. He is predeceased by his parents and 2 brothers. Memorials may be made to Hospice or the American Lung Association. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel.

Norman Reed Sleight

Norman Reed Sleight,  85, of Newark, Ohio, formerly of St. Johns, died Friday May 6, 2005 at his residence. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Henderson Vanatta & Johnston, Newark, Ohio.

Suzanne Dixon Yaich

Yaich-Suzanne.jpg (13371 bytes)Suzanne Dixon Yaich died May 9, 2005 at the age of 86. Born in Detroit, Michigan October 5, 1918, the daughter of Edward and Hazel (Dixon) Ettinger. She was a homemaker for most of her adult life.

She is survived by her son Rod (wife Barbara) Yaich of St. Johns, granddaugter Karen (husband Ryan) Eustice of Boston, MA, grandson Stephen Yaich and granddaughter Emily Yaich, both of St. Johns, her greatgrandson, Noah Benjamin Eustice of Boston, MA and three brothers, Edward Ettinger of Duluth, MN, Richard Ettinger of Farmington, MI, and Rex Ettinger of Westland, MI. Suzanne was preceded in death by her first husband Patrick Kelly and her second husband Donald Yaich.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at Grand Lawn Cemetery, Detroit, MI with Monsignor Robert Lunsford officiating. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army of Livingston County c/o the Osgood Funeral Homes, 104 E. Cass Street, Saint Johns, MI 48879 or Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor 1101 S. Dorothy G. Eaton

Eaton-Dorothy.jpg (5624 bytes)Dorothy G. Eaton died May 8, 2005 at the age of 94. Born in St. Johns on June 13, 1910, the daughter of Rutherford and Jessie (Irving) Fitzpatrick. She was a pen addresser and a member of the First United Methodist Church. Dorothy married Irving Eaton in Bowling Green, Ohio on July 13, 1930 and he preceded her in death on March 8, 1995.

Surviving are her daughters, Joan (Bernard) Jorae, Carolyn Spitzley, Rosemary (Bill) McCarthy, all of St. Johns, Sharon (Ingram Ragoonan) of Lansing and Elizabeth (Gary) Lehman of Charlevoix, 25 grandchildren, 64 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Priscilla Schutzenhofer.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at the Osgood Funeral Homes, burial at South Bingham Cemetery with Reverend Margery Schleicher officiating. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorials to First United Methodist Church or Whitehills Health Care Center.

Rex R. Remus

remus_rex.jpg (4456 bytes)Rex R. Remus St. Johns, MI Went home to be with the Lord on May 8, 2005 at the age of 97 in St. Johns, MI. He was born in Clinton County, Watertown Township, MI to Max H. Remus and Bertha Cramer Remus. He lived most of his life in Victor Township with wife, Rosanna whom he was married to for 77 years. He worked in Lansing at Oldsmobile as a Tool and Die Maker for 20 years and then at Midland Ross Corporation in Owosso. He also farmed all of his life. He was a member of South Baptist Church in Lansing and Grove Bible Church in rural Victor Township, St. Johns where he served on the deacon board.

Upon retirement Rex and Rosanna joined staff at Camp Barakel in Fairview, MI, where they served the Lord for 22 years. In their 90s they moved to Hazel Findley Country Manor in St. Johns, MI. Rex was preceded in death by his wife, Rosanna (Miller) Remus on May 2, 2005; son, Robert Remus in July 1998; brothers, Dee, Faye and Troy Remus; and sister, Merle Piper Dietz.

Surviving are his two sons, Richard (Gerry) Remus of Troy, MI and Frank (Kathy) Remus of Albion, MI; four daughters, Carolann (Art) Farr of St. Johns, MI, Anita (Ralph) Iocco of Ovid, MI, Rosemary (Fred) Smith of Dowagiac, MI and Ruth Ann (Glenn) Hills of St. Johns, MI; 18 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; and 15 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 11 at Grove Bible Church, Shepardsville and Price Road, St. Johns, with Pastor Robert Prange officiating. Viewing will be one hour before services. Contributions can be made to Camp Barakel, Fairview, MI 48621 or Gideon Bibles or Clinton County Hospice. Funeral arrangements by Watkins Brothers Funeral Home, 203 E. First North St., Laingsburg, MI.

Mildred Boron

She was born November 21, 1909 in Lansing the daughter of Louis and Carrie (Lietzke) Rayman and lived most all her life in the DeWitt and Laingsburg area. She was a member of Redeemer United Methodist Church in DeWitt, United Methodist Women, Priscilla Circle, and Farm Bureau. Mildred married Gale Boron on March 20, 1929 and he preceded her in death in 1982. Also preceding her in death is one sister, Irene Boron; one brother, Winston Rayman and a grandson Paul Kingsley.

Surviving are four daughters, Marilyn (Robert) Kissane of St. Johns; Carolyn (David) Conklin of DeWitt; Ruth (Charles) Kingsley of Florida; Jeanette (Dan) Beck of Bannister; 16 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, G. Louis Boron of Laingsburg.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at the Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, 1500 Waterford Parkway, St. Johns with Reverend Rodney Kalajainen officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Sunday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Redeemer United Methodist Church 13980 Schavey Rd. Dewitt, MI 48820 or a charity of donor’s choice.

Bernadine Viva Daley

daley.jpg (4075 bytes)Bernadine Viva Daley, beloved Aunt, Great Aunt, & Greatest Aunt,  age 73 of Elsie, Michigan died Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at Edward Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, MI.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2005 at 11:00 AM at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel. Pastor Jayme Kendall will officiate with burial at Middlebury Township Cemetery, Middlebury Township, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 6, 2005 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.

Bernadine was born in Elsie, Michigan on January 11, 1932 the daughter of Victor and Evangeline ( Follett ) Daley. She resided most of her life in the Elsie area. Bernadine graduated from Chelsie High School with the class of 1950. She then graduated from Western University. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed birdwatching, collecting books, and she enjoyed cats. She also was very involved with writing to pen pals.
She is survived by her sister Victoria Lydle of Elsie, MI, brother Ben Daley on Garden City, MI, nieces; Carol, Kay, Lissa, Priscilla, Pamela, Cheryl, & Colleen, nephews; Jim, Randy, & Edward and several great nieces & nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, 1 sister and 1 brother.

Memorials may be made to: Ovid or Elsie Public Library. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.
