Patricia M. Olson

Olson-Patricia.jpg (4868 bytes)Patricia M. Olson died May 16, 2005, at the age of 75. Born in Owosso on June 1, 1929, the daughter of Jerry and Blanche (Wilkinson) Radon. Patricia married Jim Olson in Owosso on December 1, 1946 and he survives her. She was proud to be a homemaker and also enjoyed a short time spent as a nurses aide at Hazel Findlay Country Manor.

Also surviving are her children, Timothy (Lois) Olson of St. Johns, Tom Olson of Ovid and Karann (Jan) Vermeulen of Lehigh Acres, FL, grandchildren, Reinie, Lisa, Theodore and Josh, seven great grandsons, two great granddaughters, sister, Betty Blight and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Faye and infant brother.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 21, 2005 at Maple Grove Cemetery with Pastor Bob Prange officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Friday at the Houghton Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, 232 E. Oak St., Ovid. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorial contributions to the Disabled American Veterans.

Beverly Jean Sosebee

sosebee.jpg (4763 bytes)Beverly Jean Sosebee died May 16, 2005, at the age of 69. Born in Niles, MI on March 1, 1936, the daughter of Edward and Neah (Eaton) Daus. She was a retired nurse aide. Beverly married T. Roy Sosebee in Niles on March 5, 1955 and he survives her.

Also surviving are her children, Ron (Pam) Sosebee, Brian (Bev) Sosebee, Roger (Dolores) Sosebee, Babette (Tom) Trudgeon, Rory (Lisa) Sosebee, Brandy (Craig) Breining, fourteen grandchildren, Chris (Jenn) Sosebee, Ellery (Brianna) Sosebee, Jericho Sosebee, Jessica (Chris) Duflo, Allyson (Jason Sullivan) Sosebee, Brandon Sosebee, Latrisha Sosebee, Karey (Chris Welling) Sosebee, Jarett William, Carter Trudgeon, Sherry (David) Castillo, Briana Meadows, Corey Meadows, Kylie Breining, eight great grandchildren, Reis Sosebee, Brock Sosebee, Lauren Duflo, Adam Duflo, Kyler Sosebee, Angel Castillo, Marissa Castillo and Aleesia Castillo, one brother, Richard Daus and two sisters, Betty (Louie) Gelakosky and Jackie (Earl) Lowrance.

Memorial services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 21, 2005 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1108 N. US-27, St. Johns. The family is being served by the Osgood Funeral Homes.

Leona Pearson

pearson_leona.jpg (4246 bytes)Leona Pearson, 92 died Monday, May 16, 2005 in St. Johns. She was born April 15, 1913 in Clinton County, MI the daughter of Joseph & Mary Halfman Bast. Leona worked as a sales clerk for Montgomery Wards Department Store for many years and was past President of the Alma VFW Auxiliary. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Johns and a former member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Alma. Leona married Charles Pearson who preceded her in death in 1989. A sister, Viola Pung of Ovid and several nieces and nephews survive her.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2005 with Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy as celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow at South Bingham Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns (989) 224-4422. A rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Christina A. Albaugh

Albaugh-Christina.jpg (6248 bytes)Christina A. Albaugh died May 12, 2005, at the age of 79. She was born in Pewamo on December 29, 1925, the son of Joseph and Bertha (Miller) Weitzel. Christina was married to Cleo Albaugh and he preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and member of the Catholic Church.

She is survived by her daughter Jennifer (Harold) Smith of Big Rapids, her son Lester Albaugh of Denver, CO, 5 grandchildren Nathan Albaugh, Brandon Albaugh, Tammy Zubarik, Rufina Zubarik and Iva Mae Zubarik and 6 greatgrandchildren. Along with her husband she was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren Alberto Zubarik and Lalina Zubarik, 2 sisters Elizabeth Rowell and Agnes Cooley and 2 brothers James and Robert Weitzel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at the chapel at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Pewamo, MI, with the Rev. Fr. Charlon Mason officiating. Visitation will be 9:00 A.M. – 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at the Cemetery Chapel. Arrangements by the Goerge Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, Fowler, MI.

Betty L. (Peck) Creaser

Betty Lorraine (Peck) Creaser,  84, of Jefferson, N.C., formerly of St. Johns and Lansing, retired medical records clerk, died Monday April 11, 2005 at the Ashe Living Center. Betty was born in Clinton County on July 22, 1920, the daughter of Earl and Naomi Nancy (Rice) Peck.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; her daughter Nancy M. Holmes; a brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Hilda Peck; and one grandson, Marvin Williams.

Betty is survived by 3 sons, Kenneth (Patricia) Williams, Jr. of Honor MI, Bruce (Shirley) Williams of Virginia Beech, VA, Donald (Brenda) Williams of Caesar, NC; one daughter, Judith (Robert) McNeeley of Fleetwood, NC; her son-in-law, Richard Holmes; one brother, Larry (Joann) Peck of Ely NV, one sister, Virginia P. Probst of Lansing; 19 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held on Saturday May 7, 2005 at Corinth Baptist Church in Caesar NC. Graveside memorial services 3 p.m. Sunday May 22, 2005  at Mount Rest Cemetery, St. Johns. Arrangements by Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston, N.C.

John Richard Grinnell

Funeral services will be at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel on Monday, May 16, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be Saturday, May 14, 2005 from 6-8 P.M. and Sunday, May 15, 2005 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ovid, Michigan. Pastor Rick Alcaraz & Mr. Everett Smith will officiate.

John was born in Owosso, Michigan on March 7, 1963 the son of Richard Grinnell and Sally Atkins. He resided most of his life in Ovid, Michigan and he graduated from Ovid Elsie High School with the class of 1981. He attended the Bannister United Methodist Church and he enjoyed hunting & fishing; he coached soccer & enjoyed all sports.

Survivors are his wife, Michelle Grinnell, 4 children, Krystal, Ashley, Megan & Brooke, parents, Sally Atkins and Richard & Hazel Grinnell, 3 sisters, Paullett & Ronald VanLake, Penny Grinnell, Philis & Ron Bukovcik, 4 Brothers Paul Grinnell, Walter & Maureen Ackels, Paul Ackels, Patrick Ackels, step-father, Ron Atkins.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the funeral home for his Children’s Education Fund. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.

Ruth E. Kinney

kinney_ruth.jpg (4574 bytes)Ruth E. Kinney, age 87, died Thursday, May 12, 2005. Born January 20, 1918 in Sumner, Michigan Ruth was the daughter of Frank and Hazel (Kleese) Hollabaugh. Ruth married Perry Kinney on June 29, 1935 and he preceded her in death October 2, 1978.

She is survived by her daughter, Elaine (Joel) Dilday of St. Johns, one grandson, Randy (Pam Davis) Dilday of Edmore, one great grandson, Justin Dilday; three sisters, Blanche Fisher of Vestaburg, Edith (James) Tolleson and Margaret Gilbert, both of Ithaca, one brother, Robert (Joan) Hollabaugh of North Star. In addition to her husband, Ruth was preceded in death by a grandson, Scott Dilday, one sister, Beatrice Fitzpatrick, and one brother, Frank Hollabaugh.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, May 14, 2005 at Osgood Funeral Homes, 104 E. Cass Street, St. Johns. Interment will follow at Salt River Cemetery, Shepherd. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Friday from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 PM.
