Lucille Colestock

Lucille Colestock, Eaton Rapids, MI Age 98, passed away Monday, July 25, 2005 in Charlotte. Lucille was born March 18, 1907 in Grand Ledge, the daughter of Paul Myron and Addie L. (Dalius) Kebler. She was a member of the Mad Hatters Eaton Rapids Senior Center Band and the Rocking Chair Deserters; a Red Cross volunteer, serving as a Gray Lady at Eaton Rapids Community Hospital for 20 years; a weaver at Horner Woolen Mills, and retired from Eaton Stamping in 1977 after 20 years of service.

Preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, in 1969 and brother, Myron Kebler in 1977, Lucille is survived by two sons, Donald (Randi) Colestock and Lee Colestock, all of Eaton Rapids; seven grandchildren, John (Colleen) Colestock, David (Lois) Colestock, Joseph Colestock, Pamela Colestock, Dr. Denise Colestock, Linda Colestock, and Shelley Scarborough; fourteen great-grandchildren; fifteen great great grandchildren; sister, Iladene Urban of St. Johns; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2005 at the Rosehill Cemetery, Eaton Rapids with Rev. Jesse James officiating. According to Lucille's wishes, there will be no visitation. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Eaton County Medical Care Facility or Eaton Rapids Senior Center in memory of Lucille Colestock. The family is being served by the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home.

Clayton H. Jones

jones_clayton.jpg (5512 bytes)Clayton H. Jones, 73 died Sunday July 24, 2005 at his home following a short illness. Clayton was born in Lansing, MI on Dec. 21, 1931 the son of Walter H. & Josephine Hefty Jones. Clayton was a 1950 graduate of Ovid High School and was a Veteran of the U. S. Army. He was a member of the Perrington VFW and enjoyed bowling. Clayton had worked at Diamond Reo for may years and also worked construction. On Dec. 15, 1973 he married Martha Smith in Ovid, MI and she survives.

Also surviving are step sons Dennis & Mary Barrett of East Lansing and Paul & Wendy Barrett of Laingsburg.; abrother William & Virginia of Owosso; a half brother Robert Jean Jones of Ovid; a sister Mary & Al Crippen of Newberry; 10 Grandchildren and 15 Greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, 989-224-4422 on Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev.  Diane Gordon officiating. Burial at North Star Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, July 25, 2005 from 5 until 8 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Clinton County.

Richard E. Stevens

Richard E. Stevens age 75 has gone home to be with his Lord and Savior after a brief battle with cancer on July 23, 2005. He was born May 4, 1930 in Clinton County. The son of DeWain and Ellen W. Stevens. Richard served his country proudly in the Korean War, 1952-1953 serving in the U. S. Army. After returning home he started a 38 year career as a toolmaker for Oldsmobile, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #178 of Hubbardston for 55 years and was voted Mason of the year in 1989. He was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church in Lansing and attended Grace Brethren Church in Clarksville during his retirement years. Richard was a lifelong member of the Central Michigan Lapidory and Mineral Society.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Lila (Krauss) whom he married June 24, 1950 in Hubbardston. two sons, Gregory (Glenda) of Lansing, Eric (Denise) of Boyne City; two grandchildren, Samantha and Joseph both of Lansing; brothers and sisters-in Laws, Raymond and Judy Bozung of Fowler, Paul and Polly Matheson of St. Johns, and many loving nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and a sister.

There will be no visitation. A Masonic Memorial service will be held at the Masonic Lodge in Hubbardston, 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2005. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice House of Mid Michigan1210 W. Saginaw Hwy. P.O. Box 30480 Lansing, MI 30480. Mary Lou Daniels

daniels.jpg (5120 bytes)Mary Lou Daniels age 47 of Bannister, Michigan died Friday, July 8, 2005 at McLaren Regional Medical Center Flint, MI.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2005 at 1:00 PM at Bannister United Methodist Church, Bannister, MI. Pastor Diane Gordon will officiate. There will be no Visitation.

Mary Lou was born in Big Rapids, Michigan on May 13, 1958 the daughter of James T. and Dorothy M. ( Martens ) Misner Sr. She resided most of her life in Whitecloud, before moving to Bannister 18 years ago. Mary Lou married Brian Daniels on May 23, 1987 in Cannonsburg, Michigan. She graduated from Ferris State College. She worked at the MSU Vetranary Hospital in Medical Records. She loved gardening, her miniture donkeys and horses, painting and pet photography. She was a member of the Michigan Health Information Medical Association. and the M.M.R.A.

She is survived by her husband Brian Daniels of Bannister, MI, mother Dorothy Misner of Whitecloud, MI, 4 brothers James T. Misner Jr. of Whitecloud, MI, Roger and Connie Misner of Whitecloud, MI, Brian & Tina Misner of Whitecloud, MI, Gary Misner of Whitecloud, MI, nieces & nephews, and many special friends. She was predeceased by her father and grandparents.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.

Roger L. Kempf

kempf.jpg (4619 bytes)Roger L. Kempf,  St. Johns, MI Died July 20, 2005, at the age of 72. Born August 3, 1932 in Grand Ledge, Michigan the son of Louis and Bernice (Foreman) Kempf. He was a member of American Legion Post #153 and retired from Consumers Power Company after 38 years of service. Roger married Connie (Cavert) Smith January 23, 2001 and she survives him.

Also surviving are one daughter, Michelle (Charles) Carter of Lansing; one son, Mikel (Kathy) Kempf of South Carolina; 3 grandsons, Brian, Derek and Josh; 2 step granddaughters, Kelly (Brian) and Kristi; three sisters, Evelyn Davis of New Mexico, Margaret Morrow of Florida and Elouise (Larry) Lawson of Lansing; and two brothers, Norman (Vivian) Kempf of Lansing and Robert Kempf of Colorado. Roger was preceded in death by two sisters, Alice Dolbie and Helen Randt and two brothers, Conrad "Jim" Kempf and Harris Kempf.

There will be no visitation, as Roger will be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held 12:00 Noon Monday, August 15, 2005 at the Osgood Funeral Home with Deacon Marvin Robertson officiating. Memorials may be made to Hospice for Clinton County.

Mark S. Field

field_mark.jpg (3733 bytes)Mark S. Field died July 18, 2005, at the age of 56. He was born in Lansing on March 18, 1949, the son of Max and Harriet (Barker) Field. Mark was a parts manager for Wolverine Tractor and a member of Operating Engineers Local #324.

Surviving are his children, Max Field of Lansing, Stephen (Susanne) Ruhf of Hammonton, New Jersey, Robert (Rebecca) McPhee of Lansing and Glenda (Robert) Tomms of Grand Ledge, 6 grandchildren, sister, Rebecca (Ed) Wood of Barryton, MI and brothers, John (Dr. Carol) Field of St. Johns and Matthew (Sue) Field of Mt. Pleasant. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, July 23, 2005 at the Osgood Funeral Home, 104 E. Cass St., St. Johns, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Weinberger officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorials to the American Diabetes Association or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Larry A. Karber

karber_larry.jpg (4499 bytes)Larry A. Karber died July 20, 2005, at the age of 72. He was born in St. Johns on July 15, 1933, the son of Francis and Marie (Sommerville) Karber. Larry was a 1951 graduate of St. Johns High School, served in the U.S. Army, was owner of Karber Block Co., Karber Gravel Co. and Karber Ready-Mix Co., retiring in 1995. He was a life member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus, past commander of American Legion Post #153, member of 40/8 Voiture 868, former captain of the St. Johns Fire Department and past president of the Michigan Builders Supply Association. Larry married Joyce Simon in Fowler on January 21, 1956 and she survives him.

Also surviving are his children, Sharon (Dan) Jorae, Dean (Carol) Karber, all of St. Johns, Janis (Jerry) Terrabrood of Missouri, John (Kathleen) Karber of Williamston and Julie Karber of St. Johns, grandchildren, Brad (Kristina) Jorae, Danielle Jorae, Kyle Jorae, Nicholas Karber, Matthew Karber, Audrey Karber and Alyssa Karber and brother, William (Bernice) Karber of St. Johns. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Karber in 1962 and his parents.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 A.M. Saturday, July 23, 2005 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1-4 and 6-8 P.M. Friday at the Osgood Funeral Home with a rosary prayed at 7 P.M. Military graveside services provided by St. Johns Honor Guard. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorials to St. Joseph Education Trust Fund or the charity of donor’s choice.
