M. Suzanne Churches

churches_suzanne.jpg (5448 bytes)M. Suzanne Churches passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2005 at the age of 67. She was born May 20, 1938 in Lansing, MI the daughter of Arnold and Alberta (Berlin) Huhn and lived most of her life in the St. Johns area. Sue was a 1956 graduate of Rodney B. Wilson High School in St. Johns, a member of Pilgrim United Methodist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, Clinton County Historical Society, St. Johns Lions Club, The Red Hat Society, was active in 4H Service Club, and was a St. Johns Mint Festival Volunteer. She was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed being a homemaker, but found time to work for Consumers Energy Co. and retired from the St. Johns Public Schools. Sue married Larry Churches August 24, 1957 in St. Johns and he survives her.

Also surviving is one daughter, Stephanie (Rick) Alward of Homer, AK; three sons, Terry (Gayle) of Alto, MI, Brent (Nancy) of Lowell, MI, Bart (Renae) of Jackson Hole, WY; 15 grandchildren; one sister, Marilyn Daniher of Owosso; one brother, David (Judy) Huhn of St. Johns; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2005 at the Pilgrim United Methodist Church 2965 W. Parks Rd. St. Johns with Rev. Merlin Pratt officiating. Interment will follow at South Bingham Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-9 p.m. on Thursday and 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. on Friday at the Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns (989) 224 - 4422. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Pilgrim United Methodist Church or Hospice House of Mid-Michigan P.O. Box 30480, Lansing, MI 48909-9986.

Donald E. Snyder

Snyder-Donald.jpg (8898 bytes)Donald E. Snyder died August 9, 2005, at the age of 76. He was born in St. Johns on July 6, 1929, the son of Pearl and Iva (Martin) Snyder. He was a retired farmer and General Motors employee, a veteran of the US Army during World War II and a member of American Legion Post #153, St. Johns. Donald married Janet Sturgis in Lansing on November 10, 1961 and she preceded him in death on April 23, 1993.

Surviving are one sister, Pauline Smith of Florida, one brother, Bud Snyder of St. Johns and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, Wavel, Kenneth, Johnny, Robert, Floyd and Ted Snyder and two sisters, Thelma Berlin and Lucille Colbert.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 12, 2005 at the Osgood Funeral Home, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with Chaplin Charles Krueger officiating. The family will receive friends 6-8 P.M. Wednesday and 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Military graveside services provided by St. Johns Honor Guard. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorials to the American Cancer Society.

Louis D. Herald

Louis D. Herald, Sr., Hubbardston, MI Age 91, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2005 at Heartland Health Care Center in Ionia.

His funeral Mass will be held Monday, August 8, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Hubbardston with Fr. Tom Hack and Fr. Charlon Mason officiating. Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home, Carson City, on Saturday from 7-9 p.m., Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Monday at the church. A Prayer Service will be held Sunday evening at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice.

Louis was born April 8, 1914 in Hubbardston the son of Thomas M. and Zadie (Nolan) Herald. He married Ireta O'Berry on September 14, 1935 at Resurrection Catholic Church in Lansing. They lived in the Westphalia area for many years until moving to Hubbardston in 1950. He worked as an inspector for Fisher Body in Lansing for 31 years retiring in 1972. He also took care of three village cemeteries in the area including Westside Cemetery in Hubbardston. He was a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Westphalia and member of the St. Joseph Society. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 182 both in Hubbardston. Louis assisted the priests each first Friday of the month by driving them to the homes of the sick and homebound to visit and bring them communion.

Louis is survived by his special friend and companion, Rose McMillan; six children, Frances (Bob) Case of Munising, Rose (Dewey) Howard of DeWitt, Catherine (Pat) Klein of Pewamo, Louis D. Jr. "Bud" (Wanda) Herald of Matherton, Anita (Earl) Heppard of Matherton, Joseph Herald of Hubbardston; also 21 grandchildren, 19 step-grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ireta in 1997; grandsons, Louis R. Silvernail and Brent Herald; son-in-law, Robert Silvernail; and five brothers, Thomas, Joseph, Frederick, Robert and Lyle Herald.

Rebecca Kramer

kramer_rebecca.jpg (4438 bytes)Rebecca Kramer died unexpectedly in her sleep on August 3, 2005, at the age of 25. She was born in Joliet, IL on June 28, 1980, the daughter of Kenneth and Yen Lin (Chang) Kramer. She was employed in telemarketing.

Surviving are her son, Jun Stout of St. Johns, parents, Ken and Yen Lin Kramer of St. Johns, brothers, Joe (Madeline) Kramer of Savannah, GA and Jim (Momo) Kramer of Taipei, Taiwan, loved one, Jeremy Stout, grandmothers, Betty Kramer and Yi-Sun Lun, aunt, Dianne (Harry) Goerge of St. Johns, uncle, Leon (Diane) Kramer of St. Johns and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Clayton Kramer, Fu tseng Chang and uncle, Clare Kramer.

The family will receive friends 1-3 P.M. Sunday at the Osgood Funeral Homes. There will be no services.
