Richard A. "Butch" Pung Richard A. "Butch" Pung, Eagle, MI Age 65, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2005. He was born on February 15, 1940 in Westphalia Township, MI the son of Richard M. and Helen (Fedewa) Pung. Mr. Pung was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Portland and he enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing from the dock, Nascar and sports. Richard was preceded in death by his father; brother, Paul Pung; and father-in-law, Bret Strong. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Judith "Judy" Pung; mother, Helen Pung; mother-in-law, Magdalene Strong; 7 sons, David (Maureen) Pung, Mark (Dianna) Pung, Philip (Karen) Pung, John (Debby) Pung, Paul Pung, Michael (Pam) Pung, and Jeffrey (Melissa) Pung; 12 grandchildren, Linda Kay, Rachel, Rhonda, Ashley, Matthew, Erica, Lindsey, Victoria, Nicole, Cassie, Gavin, and Jameson; 1 great-grandson, Nathaniel Pianosi; brothers, Roger Pung, Peter (Connie) Pung and Dennis Pung; sisters, Pauline (Donald) Schafer, Mary "Theresa" (Michael) Gross and Helen (LaVern) Carr; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 18, 2005 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland, with the Rev. Larry King, Pastor presiding. Rite of Committal will follow at North Eagle Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. Rosaries will be prayed at 8 p.m. Tuesday and 3 p.m. Wednesday. A Vigil Service will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday. Donald Charles Keck age 85 of Ashley, Michigan died on Monday, August 15, 2005 at his home. Funeral services will be on Thursday, August 18, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel. Visitation will be on Wednesday 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Burial will take place at North Star Cemetery, North Star, Michigan, Pastor Diane Gordon will officiate. Don was born in Ashley, Michigan on March 12, 1920 the son of Charles & Media ( Thompson ) Keck, he resided most of his life in Ashley, Michigan. On January 1, 1942 he married Rose Bacigal in Lansing, Michigan. Don was a member of Ashley United Methodist Church, in Ashley, Michigan. He retired from General Motors and was a farmer. He was a member of the Ashley Lions Club, Ashley Sportsman Club, former member of the Ashley Village Council, He loved to garden and loved flowers and on Friday nights was special for his grandchildren, and they would come to his home for a party and spend the night. Survivors include his wife, Rose Keck of Ashley, Michigan, 3 daughters, Joan Derby of Ithaca, Michigan, Janet & Bob Garcia of Ashley, Michigan, Joyce & Jim Skaryd of Perrinton, Michigan, 1 son, Richard & Pam Keck of St. Johns, Michigan, 10 grandchildren & 11 great grandchildren. Don was prededesed by his parents, 1 son Terry Lynn Keck, 3 brothers Charles, Bill & Alvin. Memorial may be made to a charity of the donors choice. August 14, 2005 at the age of 61. Born September 25, 1943 in St. Johns the son of Eugene
and Helen (Piar) Wright. He retired from Oldsmobile in 2005 after 42 years of service.
Daniel married Sandra Daley in Owosso in December of 1965 and she survives him. Susan A. Tiedt, age 92, died Sunday, August 14, 2005 following a long battle with cancer. Born July 10, 1913, in Detroit, to Martin and Agnes (Porenski) Kapral, she resided most of her life in Clinton County where she was raised on the family farm. Before she married, Suzie worked at Brunos Restaurant in St. Johns. Suzie was then employed at Willow Run B-24 Bomber Plant near Ypsilanti during WW II with five years of perfect attendance. As a result of her perfect attendance, she was awarded a free flight on a B 24 she had helped build. After the War ended, she returned to St. Johns. On November 23, 1946, Suzie married Carl H. Tiedt. During her married years, Suzie worked as a production worker for General Motors, retiring in 1977 after 30 years of service and also farmed with her husband. Even though Suzie and her husband moved to St Johns from the farm, her heart was still fond of country living. Suzie was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, her parents, one sister, Mary Fitzpatrick, and five brothers, Joseph, John, Martin, Marion, and Paul Kapral. She is survived by one sister, Anna Devereaux of St. Johns, two sisters-in-law, Irene Kapral of Wisconsin and Helen Kapral of Pewamo and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Mass will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 109 Linden Street, St. Johns with interment to follow in Mt. Rest Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Osgood Funeral Home, 104 E. Cass Street, St. Johns, Tuesday 2:00 4:00 and 6:00 8:00 P.M. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 P.M. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorials to the American Cancer Society or St. Joseph Catholic Church. Warren Dale Detwiler, 81, passed away on August 14, 2005, surrounded by his family. He was born on October 25, 1923, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, the son of Roy B. and Bertha (Shields) Detwiler, and brother to Doris Jane. Warren grew up in Detroit, MI, and joined the Merchant Marine in 1942, serving as a deck officer on various freighters and tankers in both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Warren met his wife of 57 years, Judy Margaret (Bank) in Detroit, and was wed in the Martha Mary Chapel in Dearborn, MI on October 6, 1945. Warren and Judy enjoyed a happy and loving marriage and had four children, three sons and one daughter. Warren retired from Dennison Carter in 1988. He was generous with his time and energy in numerous political and social organizations, including: American Legion, Life Member of Laurel of Acacia Eastgate Masonic Lodge #477, member of United Methodist Church of St. Johns, organized the Church of the Commons, worked with Friends of Clinton Transit, and represented the Michigan Senior Advocates Council at the State Capitol. His strong commitment to others has enhanced the lives of many individuals. Warren had a wonderful sense of humor and had the gift of making any day seem brighter. He will be missed for his quick wit and love for family and friends, and his willingness to help anyone with a need. Warren was preceded in death by his parents and sister, and his wife, Judy. He is survived by his sons and daughter, Roy (Carolyn) Detwiler of Eaton Rapids, Richard (Sherry) Detwiler of St. Paul, MN, James (Mary Ellen) Detwiler of Haslett, MI and Anne (Douglas) Benham of Ovid, MI; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, at Noon at Gorsline-Runciman Co., East Chapel, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, MI, with the Rev. Gary Bird officiating. Burial will take place at North Star Cemetery, North Star, Michigan, Rev. Fr. Rita was born May 14, 1940 in Westphalia, Michigan, the daughter of Albert & Irene ( Thelen ) Schueller, she graduated from Fowler High School with the class of 1959. On September 9, 1961 she married William E. Skriba at St. Cyril's Catholic Church, Bannister, Michigan. She resided most of her life in Ashley and was a homemaker who loved to work in her flower garden. Rita was a member of St. Cyril's Catholic Church, Bannister, Michigan. Survivors include her husband, William E. Skriba of Ashley, Michigan, 1 daughter, Cindy Custer & Steve Stauffer of Alma, Michigan, 1 son William J. Skriba of Ithaca, Michigan, 7 grandchildren, 3 sisters Theresa & Clare Fox of Ionia, Michigan, Geraldine Geller of St. Johns, Michigan, Marietta VanEtten of St. Johns, Michigan, 4 brothers, Richard & Kathy Schueller of Fowler, Michigan, Gary & Rosie Schueller of Fowler, Michigan, Ambrose & Lorraine Schueller of Ashley, Michigan, Jerome Schueller of St. Johns, Michigan, sister-in-law, Julia Schueller of Fowler, Michigan, and many nieces & nephews. Elmer H. Rademacher, Westphalia, MI Age 87, passed away August 13, 2005. He was born on September 3, 1917 in Westphalia Township, the son of Frank and Caroline (Fandel) Rademacher. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Westphalia, the St. Joseph's Society, and a Charter and Legion of Honor Member of the Catholic Order of Forresters. Mr. Rademacher was a farmer all of his life and was the recipient of the Clinton County Conservation Farmer of the Year Award in 1973. On May 26, 1943, he married Verena C. Smith at St. Mary's in Westphalia. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Holland; brothers, Slyvester, Wilfred, and Leander Rademacher; sisters, Lillian Smith and Edwina Randall. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Verena; children, Joseph (Laura) Rademacher, Gary (Mary) Rademacher, John Rademacher, Thomas (Ann) Rademacher, Roy (Laure) Rademacher; daughter, Mary T. (Jim) Morgan; son-in-law, Jim Holland; 21 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Marcella Spitzley. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Cecilio Reyna at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Westphalia. Rite of Committal will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Homes. Charles F. Barnes, Winter Park, FL Formerly of St. Johns, MI Age 84, passed away, Monday August 8, 2005. He was born in Tioga County, PA. He was a longtime resident of St. Johns, MI where he worked as a watchmaker and jeweler. Charles was an Eagle Scout and a Veteran of the Army Air Corps. He was a member of the American Watchmaker Institute. He was also a Past District Governor and life member of Lions International. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothea (Koch) Barnes and is survived by 3 daughters; Diane Barnes of Ann Arbor, MI, Janet and Alan Dunker of Bloomfield Hills, MI, Sharon and James Coe of Chuluota, FL; 2 grandsons, Philip and Carl Dunker. Breckenridge, MI. Donald Baker Jaquish, 93, of St.
Johns finally joined his beloved, Alberta, in their eternal home on August 10, 2005. He
was born December 2, 1911 in Maple Rapids. Don was the son of Carrie and Clyde Jaquish. He
was a member of the First United Methodist Church in St. Johns, the American Legion Post
#153, the U.A.W. Chapter 652. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy. In his younger
years, Don enjoyed camping and fishing. He also enjoyed playing cards and crossword
puzzles but most of all he loved being surrounded by his family. Donald married Alberta
Emmons on November 17, 1934 and she preceded him in death 24 years ago. He was also
preceded in death by his only son, John Jaquish, granddaughter, Janice Bancroft and great
grandsons, Derek Bancroft and Erik Warner. |
