Daniel Schaub

schaub_daniel.jpg (3784 bytes)Daniel Schaub passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2005 at the age of 21. He was born March 19, 1984 in St. Johns, the son of Celestine Jr. and Joan (Schneider) Schaub and lived all his life in St. Johns. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a former member of 4H, enjoyed listening to classic rock music, playing poker, and hanging out with friends. Danny was a 2002 graduate of St. Johns High School where he participated in football and wrestling.

Surviving are his parents Celestine Jr. and Joan Schaub; two sisters, Andrea (Rob) Goins of St. Johns, Carolyn (Mark) Zorad of Michigamme, MI; four brothers, Joe (Erica) Schaub of Clarksville, TN, Sam (Tia) Schaub, Alex and Germaine Schaub all of St. Johns; grandparents, Celestine and Thelma Schaub of Traverse City, Harold Schneider of Lansing; seven nieces and nephews; godparents, Steve and Marla Schneider of Mt. Pleasant and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Marietta Schneider and a cousin Tommy Schneider.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 am Friday, October 7, 2005 at St. Joseph Catholic Church 109 Linden, St. Johns with Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy as Celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Wednesday and 2-4 and 6-8 pm Thursday, with a vigil service at 8:00pm Thursday at the Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns 989-224-4422. Memorials may be made to Clinton County Right to Life.

Nellie Rose Smith,  70, died Sunday Oct. 2, 2005. Graveside services 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns. Arrangements by the St Johns chapel of Smith Family Funeral Homes.

Eva Lucille (Harris) Traver

traver.jpg (5747 bytes)Eva Lucille (Harris) Traver,  Lansing, MI Eva Lucille (Harris) Traver was born in Flint, MI, October 3, 1903 to Clarence and Anna Matilda (Strandberg) Harris. She was Past Noble Grand Capitol Rebekah Lodge Number 274; Past President of Rebekah District 13; Past President Auxiliary Canton Capitol City Number 2 of Lansing; Past-President Department Association; Past Chief Matriarch of Grand River Valley LEA Number 31; Past Matron of Lansing Chapter 521; and life member Okemos Chapter 267 O. E. S. Eva was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; her sisters, Clara Harris, Leatta Brutschy; and brother Kenneth Harris.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Jean of Lansing, her beloved pal, Mizte; nephews, Keith (Barbara) Harris of Clinton Township, Kenneth Jr. (Johonna) Harris of St. Johns, Kirk (Cherie) Harris of Laingsburg; niece, Ernalee Ann Martin of Traverse City; several great nieces and nephews; and a special extended fraternal family.

Fraternal Memorial Service will be held Wednesday evening October 5 at 7:30 p.m. at Tiffany Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wed. 2-4 p.m. and 6 until service time, with members of all units of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows taking part. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved Harold in Deepdale Cemetery

Thomas Edward Smith

smith_thomas.jpg (4258 bytes)Thomas Edward Smith,  Laingsburg, MI Age 60, died Saturday, October 1, 2005 at Harper Hospital in Detroit. Thomas was born on April 24, 1945 in St. Johns to Elmer and Josephine (Rasmussen) Smith. He was a graduate of Ovid High School and attended Alma College. On July 31, 1971 he married Linda Kay Argersinger in Laingsburg. He belonged to the Elsie Gun Club, loved to hunt and fish and working on the farm. He also loved horses and mules. Tom was a journeyman Pipe Fitter and also worked as a Plumbing Wholesaler.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; 2 sons, Eric Allen (Vicky) Smith of Laingsburg and Wayne Douglas (Stacy) Smith of Laingsburg; 9 grandchildren; and 3 brothers, Bill (Cary) Smith of Alma, Jody (Mary) Smith of Laingsburg and Douglas (Laura) Smith of Laingsburg. He was predeceased by his parents.

Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Watkins Brothers Funeral Home in Laingsburg with Pastor Laura Smith and Pastor Andy Lee officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and Monday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the Reed Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the MSU Breslin Cancer Center in Lansing.
