Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Cyril's Catholic Church Bannister, MI on Friday, November 4, 2005 at 11:00 AM. Rev. Fr. Wolfgang Streichardt will officiate with burial at Riverside Cemetery Elsie, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2005 from 6-8 P.M. & Thursday, November 3, 2005 from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. with a Rosary Thursday, November 3, 2005 at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Louis was born in Ashley, Michigan on February 11, 1925 the son of Joseph and Anna ( Homola ) Palus. He graduated from Elsie High School with the class of 1943 and resided most of his life in the Elsie area. Lewis married Christina Ochodnicky on August 16, 1947 at St. Cyril's Catholic Church, Bannister, Michigan. He was a farmer. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of St. Cyril's Catholic Church, Bannister, Michigan and of the First Catholic Slovak Union.

He is survived by his wife Christina Palus of Elsie, MI, 4 daughters; Mary & Dale Terryberry of Charlevoix, MI, Vicki Peak of Cedar Springs, MI, Kathy & Jim Vasilenko of St. Johns, MI, Kristie & Marty Peet of Ithaca, MI, 2 sons; Joseph & Trudy Palus of Elsie, MI, Louis Palus Jr. of Grand Rapids, MI, 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 1 sister Mary Fizzell of Owosso, MI. He is predeceased by his parents and 1 sister Rose.

Memorials may be made to St. Cyril's Catholic Church or the Owosso Dyalisys Center. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.

Creigh P. Bisson

bisson_creigh.jpg (4310 bytes)Creigh P. Bisson died October 31, 2005 at the age of 15. Born in Owosso on January 14, 1990, the son of Craig and Michelle (Chapko) Bisson. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, enjoyed dirt bike riding, playing guitar and reading.

Surviving are his parents, brothers, Aaron Bisson and Austin Bisson, sister, Elizabeth Bisson, grandparents, Frank and Micky Chapko of Elsie, Patrick and Sandra Bisson of Flushing Township, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 4, 2005 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 620 N. Mabbit Rd., Ovid, burial at Maple Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Fr. Ray Urbanek officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Wednesday and Thursday at the Houghton Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, 232 E. Oak St., Ovid with a rosary prayed 7 P.M. Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made in Creigh’s name to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Jesse Alan Hathaway

Funeral services will be at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel on Friday, November 4, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. Burial will take place at South Bingham Township Cemetery, St. Johns, Michigan. Pastor Alan Meis will officiate and visitation will be on Thursday, November 3, 2005 from 4-8 P.M.

Jesse was born in Lansing, Michigan on April 23, 1983, the son of Mark L. & Linette Fay ( Jacobs ) Hathaway. He graduated from St. Johns High School in 2001 and resided most of his life in the St. Johns area. He enjoyed hunting & fishing.

Survivors include his parents Mark & Linette Hathaway of St. Johns, Michigan, 1 brother, Jacob Hathaway of St. Johns, Michigan, 2 sisters, Ariel & Sheyanne, at home, his grandparents, Lincoln & Jeanette Jacobs, of St. Johns, Michigan, Janice & Leo Thurston of St. Johns, Michigan, Everett & Roxanne Hathaway of Mason, Michigan.

Memorial can be made to The American Red Cross in Jesse’s memory.  The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel.

Connor Joseph Gleason

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2005 at 11:00 AM at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel. Rev. Tim Cockroft will officiate with burial at South Bingham Township Cemetery, St. Johns, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2005 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Connor was born in Lansing, Michigan on May 19, 2001 the son of James Patrick and Roxanne Kay ( Rieves ) Gleason. He resided most of his life in St. Johns Michigan.

He is survived by his parents James & Roxanne Gleason of St. Johns, MI, 1 sister Kaitlyn Gleason at home, grandparents; James W. & Sandi Kay Gleason of St. Johns, MI, Ronald J. & Patricia A. Rieves of Dewitt, MI, and 2 great grandmothers; Libbie Houska of St. Johns, MI, Ramona Shawa of Wolverine, MI. Aunt Kathy & Doug Fladseth, Aunt Norma & Rob Swanson, Aunt Jennifer & Matt Brown, Uncle Randall Rieves & Uncle Ryan Rieves, Cousins, Scott, Bryan, Kristin, Rachel, Trisha also family of the heart, Heidi & Jason Ruppert & Olivia & Julia.

Funeral services will be held at the Duplain Church of Christ, Rochester Colony, Michigan on Monday, October 31, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Dan Cameron will officiate and burial will take place at Duplain Township Cemetery, Rochester Colony, Michigan. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 6-8 P.M. at the Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel.

Julia was born in Breckenridge, Michigan on December 3, 1914 the daughter of William & Hetty (Guthrie) Purdy. She graduated from Ithaca High School with the class of 1932 and resided most of her life in the Elsie area. She was married to Lyle Peters, they had an 8 year courtship and then married on April 9, 1939 Lyle predeceased her in 1998. Julia was a self employed beautician and owned and operated her own beauty shop for many years, arthritis forced her to retire in 1972. She was a member of the Duplain Church of Christ and a member of Order of Eastern Stars, Elsie Lodge.

Survivors are her daughter; Julia & Lemuel (Lem) Hunt of St. Johns, Michigan, 4 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Lyle, 1 son, Gary, 1 granddaughter, Lorraine, 5 sisters & 2 brothers. Memorials may be made to the VFW National Home in her memory.

Randy Robert Oberlin

Funeral services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel on Saturday, October 29, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Audie Clairmont will officiate and burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Elsie, Michigan. Visitation will be on Friday from 4-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Randy was born in St. Johns, Michigan on April 13, 1966 the son of Robert Frank & Josie Marie (Bernath) Oberlin. He graduated from Ovid-Elsie High School with the class of 1984 and resided most of his life in the Elsie area. Randy worked for Schlegel Gravel Company in St. Johns, Michigan. He attended the Church of the Living Word, in Ovid, Michigan. Randy enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding dirt bikes.

Survivors include his wife, Michelle Oberlin of Lennon, Michigan, 3 children, Sara, Nicholas & Joshua of Lennon, Michigan, father, Robert Oberlin of Elsie, Michigan, 2 sisters, Caroline & Michael Smith of Kalkaska, Michigan, Rose Marie & Kenneth Goldman of Denver, Colorado, 1 nephew, Randy Smith and a great niece, Anastacia Smith. He was predeceased by his mother Josie. Memorial may be made to the Church of the Living Word, Ovid, Michigan in his memory.
