Joseph J. Duchi

duchi.jpg (3507 bytes)Joseph John Duchi, 85, of Ashley, passed away Monday, November 21, 2005. Joseph was born on January 13, 1920 in Ashley, Michgian the son of Steven and Frances (Niko) Duchi. He was a lifelong farmer and resident of Ashley, a member of St. Cyril’s Catholic Church and the Z.C.B.J. Lodge in Bannister. On August 7, 1944 Joseph married Elaine Robbennolt and she survives him.

He is also survived by his children, Joseph (Mary) Duchi, Jr. of Columbus, OH, Judy (Greg) Pell of Okemos, and Jeanne (Alan Nye) Blaine of Aurora, CO; two granddaughters; two grandsons; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Margaret (Paul) Surdenik of St. Johns; three sisters-in-law, Joyce Dyer, Lurah Pasionek and Millie Duchi; and several nieces and nephews. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Steve, Paul and John Duchi; and his sister Emily Tvarusek.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 25, 2005 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 109 Linden, St. Johns, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy officiating. Visitation with the family will be 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Wednesday at the Osgood Funeral Home in St. Johns with a vigil service at 7 P.M. Sympathies may be expressed in the form of a donation to Alterra Clare Bridge (Nursing Home), 5250 Marsh Rd., Haslett, MI 48840.

AD Wellington Bancroft

bancroft_ad.jpg (3662 bytes)AD Wellington Bancroft died November 20, 2005, at the age of 89. Born in Greenbush Township, Michigan on February 22, 1916, the son of Judson and Lora (Fargher) Bancroft. He was a retired construction worker, a member of Local #998, enjoyed farming and was a pony puller for 20 years. AD married Ella Louise Elwood on November 26, 1943 and she survives him.

Also surviving are his sons, Juddson (Joan) Bancroft, Delbert (Bonnie) Bancroft and James (Ida) Bancroft, all of Maple Rapids, daughter, Lorraine (Willie) Cuyler of Maple Rapids, brother, Joe (Eloise) Bancroft of Shepardsville, sister, Harriet (Henry) Ross of Harrison, sister-in-law, Lesla Bancroft of St. Johns, 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, William, RG, Lyle, Homer, Orson, Charles and sister, Martha Moore.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at the Abbott Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, 509 E. Main St., Maple Rapids with burial at Sowle Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Douglas L. Witt

witt_doug.jpg (5470 bytes)Douglas L. Witt, 57 died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005 at his residence following a lengthy illness with Diabetes. Doug was born Sept. 7, 1948 in St. Johns, MI the son of Donald W. & Ella Mae (Parkhouse) Witt. He graduated from St. Johns High School in 1966. He married Christine Schomisch June 28, 1975 in Lansing. Doug was a farmer, he served on the Board of Clinton County Farm Bureau, served on the 4-H Fair Board for many years, served on the Farm Credit Board as well as Michigan Milk Producers Assn. Board.

Survivors include his wife, Christine, sons Dana Witt of New York, Derek and Rachelle Witt of St. Johns and Douglas E. Witt at home; a daughter Anne Witt of St. Johns, 2 grandchildren Josh & Hunter Witt,  a sister Donna and Robert Halfman of Fowler, his mother Ella Witt of Perrinton, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald W. Witt in 1996.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005  at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 109 S. Linden St. St. Johns at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy as celebrant. Rite of Christian Burial will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns. The family will receive friends at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home on Monday and Tuesday, 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. A Vigil with Rosary will be prayed at 8:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Paula May (Williams) Moran

moran_paula.jpg (4899 bytes)Paula May (Williams) Moran, Charlotte, MI Age 50, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2005. Paula was born in Lansing, Michigan the daughter of Roger and Lucille Williams. Mrs. Moran has been a Lansing resident for several years moving from St. Johns. Paula was a loving mother who was dedicated to her family. She was a foster care professional who took pride and joy taking care of all her children and helping them find their way in life. Paula was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Gregory Moran in February 2004; mother, Lucille Edna Williams; John and Bonnie Grifford and brother-in-law, Keith Fineis.

She is survived by her father, Roger Williams; 6 loving children, Desi-Rahy (Andrew) Martin, Jesse Moran, Jerrit Moran, Madison Moran, Billy Moran and Angel Moran; 6 siblings, Diane (Howard) Murphy, Roger (Linda) Williams, Ronnie (Debbie) Williams, Dottie Kirchenbauer, Gail Sayles and Tammie (David) Bozzo; and grandson, Kaynen Martin. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held, Wednesday, November 23, 2005, 10:00 a.m. at the Palmer, Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Home, Delta Chapel with Pastor Mark Ralph officiating. Interment will follow in Eastlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends, Tuesday, November 22, 2005, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Paula's children Education Fund

Alberta Frances Buysse

Alberta Frances Buysse,  Owosso, MI Age 81, earned eternal reward with her Heavenly Father. She passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2005 at Ovid Healthcare Center. Mrs. Buysse worked for Manufactures Bank in Lansing.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m., Friday, November 18, 2005 at St. Paul Catholic Church, with Fr. Robert D. Kolenski officiating. Visitation at Nelson-House Funeral Home will be Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the family present from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Rosary will be prayed Thursday at 7 p.m. Burial will take place 3 p.m., Friday at St. Joe Cemetery in Lansing.

Alberta was born January 18, 1924 in Fowler, Michigan, the daughter of Fred and Veronica (Joerge) Kohagen. She attended school in Pewamo and Lansing. On June 26, 1948 she married Leon Buysse at St. Joseph Church in Pewamo. Mrs. Buysse was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and the V.F.W. #701 in Lansing. Survivors include 2 sons, Bruce (Ellen) Buysse, of Owosso and Brian Buysse, of Manistee; daughter, Marie (Steve) Mogg, of Howard City, Michigan; 6 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; brother, Gerald Kohagen, of Ionia; sister, Thersa (Ray) Kramer, of Pewamo; sister-in-law, Julia Ward; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Leon; parents; 3 brothers; and 1 sister.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul School or charity of the donor's choice.  The family is being served by the Nelson-House Funeral Home.

William "Bill" M. Price

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel on Saturday, November 19, 2005 at 2:00 PM. Pastor Chris Higgins will officiate with burial at Riverside Cemetery, Elsie, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2005 from 6-8 P.M. and Friday, November 18, 2005 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.

William was born in St. Johns, Michigan on December 24, 1920 the son of Harry Price and Pearl ( Baese ) Price-Munson. He resided most of his life in Elsie, Michigan before moving to Owosso in 2000 and he graduated from Elsie High School with the class of 1939. William married Virginia Tefertiller in Elsie, Michigan on September 6, 1947. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1946 during WW II where he was stationed in the Pacific Theater. He worked as a Boiler Inspector of the State of Michigan out of the Charlotte office. He also helped fix stones in the cemetery in Elsie. William enjoyed dancing, playing golf, landscaping in his yards, and donating to the Elsie Historical Society. He attended Elsie Baptist Church and First Church of Christ of Owosso and was a member of the Elsie American Legion Post #502, VFW Post in Lansing, Dewitt Moose Lodge and the Eagle Lodge in Owosso.

He is survived by his daughter Janelle & Rick Willis of Owosso, MI, son Doug & Jaci Price of Califorinia, grandchildren; Whitney, Brianna, Amanda, Carrie, Natascha, Ryan & Eric, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, wife Virginia, and 3 brothers Emerson, Emery, and Chuck.

Memorials may be made to First Church of Christ, Owosso, Michigan. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.
