Lyle R. Austin Lyle R. Austin age 70 of Elsie, Michigan died Tuesday,
November 29, 2005 at Memorial Healthcare Center Owosso, MI.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 2, 2005 at 11:00 AM at Smith Family
Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel. Pastor Edwin Snook will officiate with burial at Fairfield
Township Cemetery Elsie, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2005
from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.
Lyle was born in Carland, Michigan on May 8, 1935 the son of Frank and Violet( Sanders )
Austin. He resided most of his life in Shiawassee County. Lyle married Beverly Bond on
October 11, 1958. She died March 27, 1988. He worked as a farmer, and he delivered
newspapers for the Argus Press. He enjoyed gardening & fishing.
He is survived by his daughter Mary Austin of Chesaning, MI, 3 grandchildren; Alaina,
Dustin, and Emily Thompson, 2 great grandchildren; Austin & Jaden Thompson, 3 sisters;
Virginia Godley of Washington, Eva & Gordon Roy of Lakview, MI, Leona & Jack
Lauback of Tennessee, 3 brothers; Dale & Fran Austin of Durand, MI, Jerry & Linda
Austin of Arkansas, Duane Austin of Arkansas, many nieces & nephews, long time
companion Alvera Ade of Elsie, MI and her family; son Jim & Marie Ade of Elsie, MI,
grandchildren; Karla & Mike McCurdy of Carland, MI, Starann & Jason Wenzlick of
Elsie, MI, Sandy Litomisky of Elsie, MI, and great grandchildren Vidalia & Clay
Wenzlick. He was predeceased by his parents.

Erhardt
James Michael Erhardt,
East Lansing, MI Age 69, passed away November 26, 2005 from complications of a stroke;
born February 4, 1936 in Grand Rapids, MI. Mike retired from Oloffson Corporation after 25
years. For 30 years, he remained a proud member of the UAW Local 724, where he served as
an officer and a volunteer in his retirement. He was an active member in the Democratic
Party, a loyal Spartan fan, and friend of the University. Through thick and thin, his love
for the Spartans never changed. James was a life-long learner; he was passionate about
history and travel and never met a map or historical marker he didn't like. He was a kind
and loving man who leaves behind a large extended family as well as many friends.
He is survived by Pat, his devoted wife of 38 years; his
beloved children, Michelle (Seth Merritt) Erhardt; Sue Erhardt; and John Erhardt; brother,
Fred (Jeanne) Erhardt; sister, Peg (Marv) Lummen; and his loyal golden retriever, Daisy.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 1, 2005,
at 1:00 p.m. at St. John Student Parish, 327 M.A.C., East Lansing, with Father Mark Inglot
officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-5 and 6-9 p.m. at
Gorsline-Runciman East Chapel, 1730 E. Grand River, East Lansing, Rosary at 8:00 p.m. and
Scripture Service at 8:30 p.m. Contributions may be made to the St. Vincent dePaul Society
at St. John Student Parish in memory of Mike.
James B. Gardner
James B. Gardner, Long Beach, MS Formerly of Bad Axe,
MI Age 67, died Sunday, November 27, 2005 at the Hospice House in Lansing. He was born
September 22, 1938 in Grand Rapids to the late Rev. William B. and Helen Gardner. On
October 8, 1988 he was united in marriage to Victoria Brandon.
He is survived by his wife, Victoria, of St. Johns; one
daughter, Pamela Foster and her husband, John, of St. Johns; one granddaughter, Lissa
Foster; one brother, David Gardner and his wife, Lois, of Portage; nieces, Pat Pearson and
her husband, Trevor, of Bensalem, PA., and Elaine Hollen and her husband, Doug, of
Florissant, MO.; and nephews, Steve Gardner and his wife, Cheryl, of Zellwood, FL., and
Blake Brandon of Waterford. He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Joan Gardner.
A memorial service will be take place at 11 a.m. on Friday,
December 2, 2005 at the First Baptist Church in Bad Axe; the Rev. Jay Barsaleau will
officiate. There will be visitation, prior to the memorial service, from 9 to 11 a.m. at
the church. Arrangements are being handled by MacAlpine Funeral Home in Bad Axe. Memorial
contributions, in memory of James B. Gardner, may be made to the Humane Society South

Adelia Besko
Adelia (Mrs. George) Besko,
88, formerly of Flint, passed away early Saturday morning, November 26, 2005 at Masonic
Pathways in Alma, Michigan.
Funeral service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Home, Elsie, MI Chapel Tuesday,
November 29th at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Oelhafen officiating. Interment Maple Grove Cemetery,
Ovid, Michigan. Visitation will be held Monday, November 28, 2005 from 2 until 8 p.m. and
Tuesday, from 11 a.m. until the service hour.
Mrs. Besko, was born August 21, 1917 in Owosso, Michigan the daughter of Elizabeth and
Thomas Hosking. She married George Besko July 27, 1940 in Detroit. Although Adelia spent
much of her life as a homemaker, she was always caring for others. She enjoyed her home,
her family, gardening, canning, baking, cooking. Member of the Metropolitan Club of
Detroit, Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary Mt. Morris Township and the Order of Eastern
Star.
Surviving are her loving husband of 65 years, George; son, George and wife, Barbara,
Montrose; daughter, Dianne Walton and husband, Jack; Owosso; 7 grandchildren, Tamara
(Jamie) Fehrenback, Gracie (Jerry) Avery, LeAnn (Troy) Napier, Melisa Besko, George, Jr.
(Jennifer) Besko, Kenda (Chris Reed) Watson and Tonya (Scott Aschenbrenner) Besko, Steve
(Kathy) Walton, Denise (Ralph) Rueda, Todd (Jennifer) Walton and Scott Walton; 13
great-grandchildren, Tyler, Cody, Brooke, Spencer, Skyler, Seth, Rebecca, Carson, Michael,
Gillian, Jake, Allivia and Logan; a sister, Pat (Hubert) Sills, Elsie; in-laws, Irene
Hosking, Henry and Donna Besko, Mary and John Srnec, and Mickie Besko; nieces, nephews,
cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Al, Jim and Bill Hosking;
brothers-in-law, John Besko, Mike Besko and Jim Besko and Ted Thornton; sisters-in-law,
Roseanna Besko, Anna Mae Thornton and Betty Besko. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes,
Elsie Chapel.
Bernice M. Halsey
Bernice M.
Halsey, age 89, died Friday, November 25, 2005 in Perrinton. Born March 24, 1916 in
Bingham Twp. the daughter of Ernest and Ellen (Sperry) Rall, Bernice retired as an
inspector from Federal Mogul after 26 years of service. She was a member of the St. Johns
Lutheran Church and a volunteer for the St. Johns Senior Citizen Center for many years.
Bernice married Morton Halsey, June 21, 1937 and he preceded her in death January 21,
1982.
She is survived by two daughters, Ellen Dunn of Perrinton and Kathy (Tarry) Stahl of
Ashley, six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Bernice was also preceded in
death by one sister, Effie Elaine Teed, one brother, Arden Lyman Rall, and son-in-law,
Charles Dunn.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Monday, November 28, 2005 at the Osgood Funeral Home with the
Reverend George Brinley officiating. Burial will follow at South Bingham Cemetery. The
family will receive friends Sunday 2:00 5:00 and 7:00 9:00 PM at the funeral
home. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorials to Great Lakes Home Health &
Hospice, 1000 E. Sturgis Street, St. Johns, MI 48879.

Edna M. Grubaugh, 94, of Hiram, Ga., died Tuesday.

Kenneth E. Snider
Kenneth E. Snider, 87, of St. Johns and Traverse City, went
to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Betty; sister, Ethel Hicks of Portland, Ore.; daughter,
Jeanne Asher; son-in-law, Richard Asher; and grandchildren, Katie and Nicholas Asher of
Traverse City. He is also survived by his son, Roger Snider; daughter-in-law, Mary Snider;
grandchildren, Kelly Snider and Heidi (Snider) Kett and her husband, Patrick Kett, of
Grand Rapids; and grandchild, Adam Snider of Portland, Ore.
A committal service is planned for the spring at Mount Rest
Cemetery in St. Johns. Gifts and contributions in Kenneth's honor may be made to Munson
Healthcare Hospice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Covell Funeral Home of
Traverse City.
