Mary Joann Holton Mary Joann Holton age 65 of Owosso, Michigan died Sunday, December 11, 2005 at the home of her son. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church Ovid, MI on December 15, 2005 at 10:00 AM. Rev. Fr. Ray Urbanek will officiate with burial at Riverside Cemetery Henderson, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 14 from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel. Rosary will be prayed on Wednesday, December 14 at 5:00 P.M. Mary was born in Saginaw, Michigan on September 6, 1940 the daughter of Claude and Frieda ( Knieper ) Munson. She resided most of her life in Saginaw, Michigan and graduated from Saginaw High School with the class of 1958. Mary married Carl Ellis Holton on November 12, 1988 at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Owosso. She was a valued employee of Baker College working in their housekeeping department. She had a great sense of humor and a big heart, always placing others welfare and happiness ahead of her own. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church of Ovid, Michigan. She is survived by her husband Ellis Holton of Owosso, MI, daughter Joanne Jenkins of Indiana, daughter Joyce Dick of Michigan, son Thomas M. Dick of Michigan, daughter Carol J. Lowley of Tennessee, son Benjamin J. & Laura Dick of Michigan, son Anthony & Amanda Dick of North Carolina, daughter Nancy & Ken Burger of Michigan, 2 brothers; Andy Munson, Richard & Laura Erly, 4 sisters; Millie & Bob Mehl, Sarah & Morris Heniger, Ruth & Jerry Hollands, and Lucy Brickle. She is predeceased by her parents, and 3 sons William Charles, Joseph I. Jr., and Thomas Joseph. Memorials may be made to Shiawassee County Parks. Bannister, Michigan died December 12, 2005 at Ashley Healthcare Center, Ashley, Michigan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Cyrils Catholic Church, Bannister,
Michigan on Thursday, December 15, 2005 at 10:30 A.M. Rev. Fr. Wolfgang Streichardt will
officiate with burial at Ford Cemetery, Gratiot County, Michigan. Visitation will be held
on Tuesday, December 13 from 6-8 P.M. & Wednesday, December 14 from 2-8 P.M. with
family present 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Rosary will be prayed on Wednesday at 4:00 P.M. at the
funeral home. Anna had started her work career at a laundry in St. Johns,
Michigan, She then went to work for AC Spark Plug in Flint Michigan for 17 ½ years, now
known as Delphi E. She had quit there to take care of her mother. She was a polka loving
lady who enjoyed dancing and attending polka fests and dances. She also enjoyed her many
varieties of flowers, taking care of her vegetable and flower garden and manicured lawn. Necia (Culver) Beck, St. Johns, MI Age 94, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2005 at the Ovid Healthcare Center, Ovid, MI. Necia was born in Lansing, MI on July 10, 1911, the daughter of Arthur and Rayna (McIlwain) Culver. She was a graduate of Eaton Rapids High School and received her three year teaching certificate from Eaton County Normal. She began her teaching career at the age of nineteen at the Pray School near Dimondale, where she had attended her first eight years as a student. Her later studies included a Bachelor of Science Degree from Central Michigan University and additional studies at Western Michigan University and Michigan State University. Necia retired after twenty-eight years of teaching in Eaton, Clinton and Dewitt school systems and twelve years at the Grand River School in Lansing, MI. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of St. Johns, Central Michigan University Alumni Association, the Greater Lansing Area Retired School Personnel, the Clinton County Chapter of the Michigan Association of Retired Personnel and a former member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International and the St. Johns Women's Club. Survivors include her 3 sons, Dan (Janette) Beck of Bannister, MI, James Beck of St. Johns, MI, George Beck of Palms, MI; daughter-in-law, Barbara Beck of St. Johns, MI; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, son, Ben in 1988, and daughter-in-law, Lois Beck. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel. The Rev. Margery A. Schleicher will officiate and burial will take place at Eureka Cemetery, Eureka, MI. The family will be at the funeral home for visitation on Sunday from 3-6 p.m. and Monday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of St. Johns or a charity of the donor's choice in her memory. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel. Terry Bashore died December 8, 2005, at the age of 61. Born
in St. Johns on May 14, 1944, the son of Galen and Lorene (Whittaker) Bashore. He had
worked at area grocery stores for many years. Terry married Connie Hathon in Owosso on
October 16, 1976 and she survives him. Helen E. Pung, Portland, MI Age 91, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2005. She was born on July 20, 1914 in Westphalia, MI, the daughter of Albert and Helena (Klein) Fedewa. Mrs. Pung was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, as well as a member of the Christian Mothers. Helen enjoyed baking, spending time with her children and grandchildren, playing cards and bingo. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard M. Pung; sons, Richard A. "Butch" and Paul Pung; 2 brothers; and 3 sisters. Surviving are her children, Pauline (Don) Schafer of Eagle, Mary Theresa (Mike) Gross of Eagle, Helen (LaVern) Carr of Portland, Roger Pung of Tampa, FL, Pete (Connie) Pung of Westphalia and Dennis (Julie) Pung of Westphalia; daughter-in-law, Judy Pung of Eagle; 29 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; sister, Dora Pung of Westphalia; brother, Charles Fedewa of Westphalia; and sister-in-law, Grace Fedewa of Westphalia. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 12, 2005 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Portland, with the Rev. Larry King, Pastor presiding. Rite of Committal will take place later that day at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Westphalia. The family will receive friends at the St. Mary's Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia Street, Westphalia from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Rosaries will be prayed at 3 and 8 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. A Vigil Service will be held at 8 p.m. on Sunday. DePeal Dorothy Edith Fritch, Lansing, MI Formerly of Grand Ledge, MI Age 90, passed away December 7, 2005. She was born May 26, 1915 in Fowler, MI to Harrison and Eva (Mullins) Miller. She was a retired registered nurse formerly employed at St. Lawrence Hospital, and a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and Altar Society. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crafts, dancing, playing card games, and time spent with her loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by sons, Michael (Irm) of Portland and Thomas (Beth) of Farmington Hills; daughters, Sandra (Leon) Smith of Westphalia, Nancy (Norbert) Ney of East Lansing, Patricia (Edward) Martin of St. Johns, Eileen (Dave Johnston) Smith, and Mary (Michael) Timmer all of Traverse City; 25 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; sisters, Shirley Bertram of Defiance, OH, and Beatrice Frechen of St. Johns; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband, George; brothers, Gerald and Gordon Miller; sisters, Betty DeBarr and Virginia Imes; and grandchild, Kelly Schafer. Visitation will be Sunday 1-3 and 5 p.m. until time of Vigil Service at 7 p.m. at Holihan-Atkin Funeral Home Grand Ledge. Funeral Mass will be Monday, December 12, 2005, 11 a.m. at St. Michael Church, Grand Ledge, the Rev. Fr. James Eisele as Celebrant.
