Tyler Watson Heinze

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 31, 2005 at 11:00 AM at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel. Pastor Wes Coffey will officiate with burial at Fairfield Township Cemetery Fairfield Township, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 29 from 6-8 P.M. and Friday, December 30 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.

Tyler was born in Owosso, Michigan on May 30, 1997.Timothy C. and Elizabeth M. ( Tyler ) Heinze. He resided most of his life in Elsie, Michigan and attended RESA Clinton County in St. Johns, Michigan. Tyler liked John Deere Tractors, swimming, Michigan Football, and watching Blue's Clue's.

He is survived by his parents Timothy and Elizabeth Heinze of Elsie, MI, 3 sisters; Serina, Kathryn, and Faith Heinze all at home, grandparents; Debra Heinze of Elsie, MI, Jack and Kathy Tyler of Elsie, MI, great grandmothers; Carol Watson of Elsie, MI, Irene Heinze of Bannister, MI, Dorothy Harmon of St. Johns, MI, 2 aunts; Rebecca and Daniel Guyski of Elsie, MI, Donna Tyler of Ovid, MI, 1 uncle Shayne Tyler of Elsie, MI, 3 cousins Alex, Jacinda, and Shelbie, and special family friends Joe and Holly Sharpe of Fort Bragg, NC. He is predeceased by 4 great grandfathers; Richard Watson, Eugene Heinze, and Robert Harmon, Richard Tyler, and 1 great grandma Thelma Tyler.

Memorials may be made to the National Niemann Pick Disease Foundation, or Sparrow Hospice. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.

W. Madison Wyrick

wyrick_madison.jpg (3925 bytes)W. Madison Wyrick, 85 formerly of rural Ovid and Lakeland Florida died Tuesday Dec. 27, 2005 at Hospice House in Lansing. Madison was born March 29, 1920 in Ovid Twp, the son of Ward and Lula Wyrick (Neller). He was a 1938 graduate of Ovid High School. Madison was veteran or the U.S. Army and a farmer and owner-operator of Wyrick Orchards. On Oct 5, 1946 he married Vivian Wilkie in St. Johns, MI and recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. Madison was a member of Ovid United Church, and the Farm Bureau. He loved his family and enjoyed farming and working in the orchard as well as growing beautiful roses. He was a very hardworking, caring and generous person. 

Survivors include his Wife Vivian; daughter Kristine Jacobs of East Lansing; sons Roger and Pam Wyrick of St. Johns; Jerry and Audrea Mills of Zephyrhills, Florida; grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Kenneth, sister Althea Placer and son-in-law Dr. Allen Jacobs.

Funeral services will be held at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, 224-4422 on Friday, December 30, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Merlin Pratt officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, 4-7 P.M.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House of Mid Michigan.

Terry Dale Latimore

Terry Dale Latimore died December 27, 2005, at the age of 57. Born in Alma on April 18, 1948, the son of Doyle and Leola (Beck) Latimore. He was retired from General Motors. Next to his wife and daughters, Terry’s second love was his hot rods. He was a true “car guy”, and he and his 1960 Corvette were regular winners on the local car show circuit. Terry married Nancy Anne Harke in Lansing on April 11, 1969 and she survives him.

Also surviving are his daughters, Jo (Ralph Kridner) Latimore of Grass Lake, MI and Janet Dale Latimore of Canadian Lakes, MI, brother, Gary (Pat) Latimore of DeWitt and nephew, David (Lacie) Latimore of Charlotte. He was preceded in death by his parents.

There will be no funeral service or visitation. Private burial has taken place. The family was served by the Osgood Funeral Home.

Wesley E. Eaton

eaton_wesley.jpg (13039 bytes)Beloved husband and father, Wesley E. Eaton died December 25, 2005 at his home, at the age of 77. Born in St. Johns on August 28, 1928, the son of Mark and Eugenia (Mehney) Eaton. He was a retired tool and die engineer for Diamond Reo, a World War II Army veteran, a member of the St. Johns-Ovid Masonic Lodge #105 FandAM, was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed gardening. Wesley married Shari Wilson in St. Johns in 1993 and she survives him.

Also surviving are his daughters, Debra Wickerham, Barbara Markman, Gina Eaton, Linda Eaton, Maude Farr, Treva Eaton and Alicia Wilson-Eaton, sons, Michael Eaton, Army Specialist Isaac Wilson-Eaton, James Wilson and Nathanael Wilson, 27 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, sisters and brothers, Wanda (Elon) Hufnagel, Sue Pederson, Mark (Edna) Eaton, Ella Eaton, Gayle (Sandy) Eaton, Clare (Alicia) Eaton, Roger (Nicki) Eaton and Janet Whitaker. He was preceded in death by his son, Clell Eaton, first wife, Margaret A. Eaton and brother John “Jack” Eaton.

Funeral services will be 9:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at the Osgood Funeral Home, burial at South Bingham Cemetery with Cantor Pamela Schiffer officiating.

Maxine Miller

miller_maxine.jpg (14329 bytes)Maxine Miller, age 80, of St. Johns, formerly of Lansing, died Sunday, December 25, 2005. Born March 7, 1925 in Lansing, Michigan the daughter of John and Mary (Miller) Pollitt, Maxine married Robert Miller on November 27, 1943 in Lansing, and he survives her. She was retired Time Clerk for Lansing Diamond Reo.

In addition to Robert she is survived by her three daughters, Connie (Carl) Andrus of St. Johns, Cheri (Jim) Morgrette of Saginaw, and Robin (Ron) Rochon of DeWitt, 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, her brother Stanley (Fern) Pollitt of Lansing and her sister Margaret Alice Deschaine of Levering. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Jack Pollitt.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at Osgood Funeral Home, 104 E. Cass Street, St. Johns, MI. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2:00 – 4:00PM and 6:00 – 8:00PM. Interment will be in Mt. Rest Cemetery. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorials to the American Diabetes Association.

Lois Elizabeth Haywood

haywood_lois.jpg (11213 bytes)Lois Elizabeth (Lively) Haywood,  St. Johns, MI Age 73, died December 21, 2005; born March 14, 1932 in Dilworth, Alabama. Mrs. Haywood has been in food services as a cook for 30 years and retired from Michigan State University Alpha Phi Sorority. She worked part time for Lansing Gardens and had a variety of interests, but her main love was for her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Thomas L. Haywood and brother.

Surviving are 2 daughters, Felicia (Pinkie) Haywood of Potterville and Mary (Gary) Haywood of Harrison; 1 son, Thomas Shane (June) Haywood of DeWitt; special friend, Gerald Karber of St. Johns; 3 sisters, Shirley Hooks of Alabama, Mary Jo and Sharon both of Michigan; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews and close friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 27, 12:30 p.m. at the Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing with Pastor Francis Dunn-Simon officiating. Interment will follow in East Lawn Memory Gardens, Okemos. The family will receive friends at the Chapel Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Diabetes Association, 648 Monroe Avenue NW, Suite 004, Grand Rapids, MI 49503 or the American Heart Association, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674 in memory of Mrs. Haywood.

Anna M. Simon

Anna M. Simon passed away peacefully December 24, 2005 at the age of 99. Born in Westphalia, Michigan August 7, 1906, she was the daughter of Louis and Augusta (Simon) Wieber and lived most of her life in the Fowler area. She was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers and the D of I. On June 16, 1931 she married Leonard Simon and he preceded her in death in 1971.

Surviving are one son Joseph (Wanda) Simon of Fowler, four daughters, Joyce Karber of St. Johns, Marilyn (Jack) Fox of Lansing, Ruth (Paul) Schafer of Pewamo and Linda (Fred) Epkey of Fowler, 26 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, one sister, Bernadette Wieber and three sisters-in-law, Marian Wieber, Rose Hufnagel and Agnes Feldpausch. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her daughter Sandra Simon, her granddaughter Karen Karber and her son-in-law Larry Karber.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at 10:30 A.M. at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 545 N. Maple St., Fowler, MI, with Rev. Fr. Timothy E. Mac Donald officiating. Burial will follow at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the Goerge Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, Fowler. Rosaries will be prayed at 3:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of contributions to the Most Holy Trinity Educational Trust Fund.

Edward J. Bottum

Edward J. Bottum died December 24, 2005, at the age of 87. Born in St. Johns, Michigan on July 28, 1918, the son of Clarence and Amber (Seifert) Bottum. He served in the US Army during WWII. He was a retired contractor and farmer, a member of the Roscommon VFW Post 4159, a past-president of the Clinton County Farm Bureau and one of the original founders of the Prairie 4-H Club. Edward married Freda Miller on October 26, 1946, and she preceded him in death on January 11, 1999.

He is survived by his children, Barb (Daniel) Newport and Jon (fiance Dana Lambert) Bottum, grandchildren, Kimberly Newport, Jason Newport, Angela (Gary) Zimmerman, Stephanie (Steve) Swan, and Jennifer (Mike) Warnke, great-grandchildren Tori, Skyler, Jace, Kara, and Julia, and his sister, Oral Tolles. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter Shelby Swan.

There will be no visitation or funeral services. Sympathies may be expressed in the form of donations to The VFW Post 4159, Roscommon, MI 48653. The family is being served by the Abbott Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes.

Kathy Lynn Vasilenko

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Cyril’s Catholic Church, Bannister on Tuesday December 27, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Fr. Wolfgang Streichardt will officiate with burial at Riverside Cemetery, Elsie Michigan. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 25, 2005 from 6-8 P.M. and Monday 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Rosary will be prayed Monday evening at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Kathy was born in Lansing, Michigan on August 15, 1959 the daughter of Louis and Christina ( Ochodnicky ) Palus. She resided most of her life in Clinton County, Michigan and graduated from Ovid Elsie High School. Kathy married James Vasilenko on September 27, 2003 in Owosso, Michigan. She was raised a member of St. Cyril’s Catholic Church, Bannister, Michigan. Kathy had worked for Mid Michigan Collection Bureau in St. Johns, Michigan. She enjoyed playing golf and traveling, especially to California for wine tasting, and to Mexico and Wyoming.

She is survived by her husband James Vasilenko of St. Johns, Michigan, 1 daughter Jenny and Troy Thelen of Lansing, Michigan, 1 son Paul Hunt of St. Johns, Michigan, her mother Christina Palus of Elsie, Michigan, 3 sisters; Mary and Dale Terryberry of Charlouix, Michigan, Vicki Peak of Cedar Springs, Michigan, Kristie and Marty Peet of Ithaca, Michigan, 2 brothers Joseph and Trudy Palus of Elsie, Michigan, and Louis Palus Jr. of Grand Rapids, Michigan. She is predeceased by her father in November 2005.

Memorials can be made to Memorial Healthcare Cancer Center, Owosso, Michigan. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.
