Marie A. Smith Marie A. Smith Lansing, MI Age 91, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2006. She was born on May 24, 1914 in Westphalia, MI, the daughter of William and Veronica (Martin) Arens. Mrs. Smith was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church in Lansing and St. Mary's Catholic Church in Westphalia. Marie was an avid flower gardener and loved to travel. She retired from the State of Michigan Highway Department after 34 years of service. Marie was also a graduate of the Clinton County Normal College and she was an organist, performing professionally in Lansing and resort areas of the northern Lower Peninsula. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Gerald and Joseph Arens; and husband, Carl. Surviving are her sister, Rita Irrer, 6 nieces and 5 nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Cecilio Reyna, Pastor at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Westphalia. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Westphalia. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the church until the time of the service. Complete arrangements are entrusted to the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland. Dorris Jean Anderson died January 15, 2006 at the age of 73. She was born in Ovid on February 17, 1932, the daughter of Melbourne and Harriet Hattie (Lane) Morehouse. She was a retired Magnetek employee, member of First Baptist Church of Ovid and the Ovid Historical Society. Surviving are her children, Karen (spouse Doug Foster) Anderson of Laingsburg, John (Paulette) Anderson of Elsie, Phyllis (Gordon) Squier of Charlotte, Jan (Jim) Wesley of Elsie, Eric (Susan) Anderson of Shreveport, LA, Tim (Sandy) Anderson of Bannister and Dennis (Janet Acord) Anderson of Owosso, 15 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, brothers, Bill Morehouse of Owosso and Darrell (Edith) Morehouse of Arlington, TX, and sister, Frances (Dale) Martin of Arlington, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Basil and George, and sister, Edith Taylor. Funeral services will be 12 Noon Wenesday, January 18, 2006 at the Houghton Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, burial at Maple Grove Cemetery with Pastor Bob Prange officiating. The family will receive friends Monday 6:00 - 8:00P.M., and Tuesday 2:00 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Ovid or Great Lakes Hospice (Home Health). Nicholasville, KY formerly of St. Johns, Ovid and Owosso died January 12, 2006. She is survived by her husband Harold Hallock, daughter Kathy (Sodman) Reed; sons Jack Sodman of Owosso, Roger Tkaczyk of Swartz Creek, Jim Tkaczyk and Matthew Hallock of Nicholasville, KY, sisters and brothers and nine grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home in St. Johns on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 from 4-8 p.m. and funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. Hans J. Bossel, 76 died Friday,
Jan. 13, 2006 in Lansing. Hans was born March 19, 1929 in Wittlich, Germany the son of

Memorial contributions may be made to Ovid Public Library or Ovid-Middlebury Ambulance. Thelma A. Boughton went to be with the Lord Thursday, January 12, 2006 at the age of 98. She was born September 26, 1907 in Cadillac, MI, the third of twelve children born to Elmer and Mable (Saxe) Dassance. She married Clare O. Boughton in 1935 and was a working partner in the fields and barn for many years on their farm. She worked part time cleaning homes and later was a manager for a laundromat, a job she held until she was 80. Thelma was an active member of the Bath Baptist Church and will be greatly missed. Surviving are three children, Delores Boughton of DeWitt, Donna (Marvin) ODell and Clare E. (Diane) Boughton all of St.Johns; six grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; three sisters, Doris Davis of Durand, Lena Culver of Traverse City, Pauline Johnson of Tustin; one brother, Levi Dassance of Cadillac and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clare, daughter Lavonne, three sisters, Florence Lane, Lillian Harrison, Mildred Forsberg; four brothers, Maurice, Lloyd, Don, and Lawrence Dasssance. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Monday, Januray 16, 2006 at the Bath Baptist Church, 13527 Webster Rd., Bath, MI with Rev. Richard Cole officiating. Interment will follow at Deepdale Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Sunday at the Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns (989) 224-4422 and she will lie-in-state at the church from 10:00 am until service time on Monday. Doris I. Buck age 82 of St. Johns, Michigan died Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at the Mid-Michigan Hospice House in Lansing, Michigan. Funeral Services will be held at Duplain Church of Christ on Saturday, January 14, 2005 at 1:00 pm. Pastor Dan Cameron will officiate with burial at Riverside Cemetery, Elsie, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 13, 2006 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel. Doris was born on March 16, 1923 in Stanwood, Michigan the daughter of Elmer and Beatrice (Lindsey) Lunsted. She resided her life in Stanwood, Elsie and St. Johns, Michigan and graduated from Morley High School with the class of 1940. Doris married Clarence Raymond Buck on September 21, 1947 in Elsie, Michigan, Clarence died on May 23, 1983. She worked for Lear Corporation in Elsie for 20 years and was a Hospice worker in Shiawassee County. She was a member of the Duplain Church of Christ, Rochester Colony, Michigan and she helped start and was a charter member of the Fairway Christian Church in The Villages, Florida and did volunteer work there as a mentor. She is survived by 3 daughters; Celeste and Myron Tethal of Oakdale, CT, Carol Buck of PawPaw, MI, Marsha and Larry Kruger of St. Johns, Michigan, 1 son Michael and Karen Buck of Port Austin, MI, 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, 2 sisters; Beverly Giannarelli of Florida, Joan Choals of Rockford, MI, 3 brothers; Don and Evie Lunsted of Pierson, MI, Elmer and Beatrice Lunsted of Clio, MI, Sherwood Lunsted of California, and sister-in-law Marilyn Lunsted of Grand Rapids, MI. She is predeceased by her parents; husband Clarence, 1 grandson Nathan Ropp, and 1 brother Gordon Lunsted. Memorials may be made to Duplain Church of Christ or Hospice.
