Phyllis A. McIntosh

mcintosh_phyllis.jpg (5014 bytes)Phyllis A. McIntosh age 79 of Ionia, Michigan died Monday, January 23, 2006 at Heartland Health Care Center, Ionia, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel on Thursday, January 26, 2006 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Merlin Pratt will officiate with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery St. Louis, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2006 from 5-8 P.M.
Phyllis was born in Elwell, Michigan on December 8, 1926 the daughter of Richard and Myrtle ( Bishop ) Eldridge. She resided most of her life in Gratiot and Clinton Counties.

Phyllis married Harry McIntosh in 1947. He died in 1984. She was a homemaker, and was a great care taker for her daughter. She loved to cook, and had a great sense of humor. She also enjoyed painting, playing guitar and piano, and she loved to shop. Phyllis was a very generous lady to her family. She was very well liked and enjoyed the interaction at Heartland Health Care with staff and residents.

She is survived by 2 sons; Patrick and Maria McIntosh of Ionia, MI, Harry A. and Linda McIntosh Jr. of Wayland, MI, 1 daughter Susan L. McIntosh of Hubbardston, MI, 4 grandchildren; Pat McIntosh, Lisa Brooks, Justin McIntosh, Joe McIntosh, great grandchild Destiny McIntosh, brother Lyle and Lois Eldridge of Texas, sister Donna and Russell Hastings of Indiana, brother Leon and Verna Eldridge of Benton Harbor, MI, sister Virginia and Joe Zwierzynski of Bannister, MI, brother Willard and Sharon J. Eldridge of Bunn, NC, sister Wilma Mizer of Alma, MI, and brother Gus and Sharon Eldridge of Wheeler, MI. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, 6 brothers and sisters and 1 granddaughter Christina McIntosh.

Memorials may be made to Heartland Health Care Activities. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel.

Ralph Irwin Begg

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel on Saturday, January 28, 2006 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Reid Martin will officiate. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 26 and Friday, January 27 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.

Ralph was born in Owosso, Michigan on October 9, 1927 the son of Oscar Begg and Zella Sturk. He resided most of his life in Owosso and Palatka, Florida. He attended school in Owosso, Michigan and graduated from Owosso High School before attending Lansing Community College. Ralph married Shirley Newman on December 31, 1963 in Alma, Michigan. He retired in 1998 from GM after 37 years of service. He loved to garden and enjoyed growing roses as well as helping others. He was a member of the VFW in Owosso, Union Stewart and AARP Rep and Substance Abuse Rep at GM.

He is survived by his wife Shirley Begg of Pompeii, MI, children; Roy and Julie Brown of Alma, MI, Dorthann and Kenny Teed of Pompeii, MI, Teresa and Edward Ramirez of Riverdale, MI, Mary and William French of Dallas, TX, Daniel and Machelle Brown of Pompeii, MI, Darlene and Roger Boughton of Sturgis, MI, Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Begg of Owosso, MI, Denise Lake of Owosso, MI, 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel.

Earl Richard Clark

Funeral services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel on Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. Rev Keith Whipple will officiate and burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Elsie Michigan. Visitation will be Tuesday 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.

Earl was born in Flint, Michigan on November 14, 1930, the son of Ivan M. and Florence L. (Unrath) Clark and resided most of his life in the Elsie area. He graduated from Elsie High School with the class of 1950. On June 20, 1953 he married Donna J. Longcor at the Eureka Christian Church in Eureka, Michigan. Earl worked for Johnson Controls until his retirement in 1994, and was a member of Eureka Christian Church and served as a trustee of the church, he was a Boy Scout Master of troop #576.

Survivors include his wife Donna J. Clark of Elsie, Michigan, one daughter, Sarah Anne Clark of Elsie, Michigan, one son, Jim and LuAnne Clark of St. Johns, Michigan, 3 grandchildren, Kristopher, Jamie Lee and Joseph Clark, 2 brothers, Donald and Marlyn Clark of Elsie, Michigan, Beryl and Dixie Clark of Owosso, Michigan. He was predeceased by his parents, one son, Jeffery Scott Clark in 1982 and one brother, Merrill Clark.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association in his memory. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.

Marian E. (Simpson) Blair

blair_marian.jpg (5664 bytes)Marian E. (Simpson) Blair Lansing, MI Passed away Saturday, January 21, 2006, just 16 days short of her ninetieth birthday. She was born February 6, 1916 on a farm in Victor Township, Clinton County, the youngest child of Orley and Maude (Baker) Loomis. Marian was retired from the Walgreen Company where, in the late 1950's, she was the first woman in company history to serve on a district supervisory staff. She was a past member of the American Business Women's Association. A lifelong resident of the Lansing area, she enjoyed family gatherings, reading, games of all sorts, music, dancing and televised sports events. In her younger days she enjoyed bowling and golf. Kind, personable and open, Marian made countless friends throughout her life. Her family and friends will miss her and always hold her memory close to their hearts.

Marian was predeceased by her parents; brother, Lyle Loomis; sister, Thelma Neller; former husbands, Sam Oehmen and Alfred Simpson; daughter-in-law, Yvonne Simpson; son-in-law, Roy Brilinski; stepson, Jim Oehmen; grandchildren, Susan Simpson, Kirk Simpson, Brian Simpson, Jeffrey Brilinski; step-grandchild, Timothy French; great-grandchild, Matt Simpson; and friend Calvin Stovall. She is survived by her sister, Irma Carter of Holt; three children, Jerry (Carol) Simpson of Lansing, Joyce Brilinski of Port Charlotte, FL, Calvin (Brenda) Simpson of Grand Ledge; special stepchildren, Kathy (Randy) Norton of Mesa, AZ, Mike (Jane) Oehmen of Portland, Pete Oehmen of Australia; grandchildren, Scott (Linda) Simpson of Modesto, CA, Timothy Simpson of Lansing, Tracy (Julie) Simpson of Holt, Jerry Simpson II of Fort Mitchell, KY, Sandra (Tom) Gravely of Spanaway, WA, Jeri (Bob) Stowell of Byron Center; great-grandchildren, Chad, Heidi, Jenna, Nicole, Jerry III and Brian Simpson, Layla Brilinski, Tom and Sabrina Gravely, Abbie and Adam Stowell; and numerous nieces and nephews, many friends, and special friends in her later years, Leah Fabor and Helen Lingbeek.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 26, 2006, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with interment in Delta Center Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association in memory of Marian E. Blair.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Owosso, Michigan on Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. Rosary will be prayed Monday evening at 5:30 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel. Rev. Fr. Robert Kolenski will officiate and burial will take place at St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery, Owosso, Michigan. Visitation will be Sunday evening 6-8 P.M and Monday 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.

Terry was born on June 30, 1943 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Myrum and Ora Juanita ( Avery ) Mudget. She resided most of her life in Shiawassee County, Michigan and graduated from Owosso High School with the class of 1961. She married Richard Zemla, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Owosso on September 16, 1980 Richard predeceased her on February 22, 2002. Terry was a secretary at the Ovid-Elsie Schools until her retirement in 1993, and a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Owosso, Michigan. She was also a member of the Razzlin, Dazzlin Dames, Red Hats, Ovid, Michigan, she enjoyed walking in the American Cancer Charity walks, also Stamp Art and golfing.

Survivors include her 4 daughters, Jodi Turner of Farmington Hills, Michigan, Theresa Jones of Elsie, Michigan, Annette and Carl Thornton of Elsie, Michigan, Diane and Greg Mark of South Jordan, Utah, 4 sons, Jason and Tammie Wood of Elsie, Michigan, Mike and Gina Zemla of Elsie, Michigan, Rick and Val Zemla of Elsie, Michigan, Chuck and Carol Zemla of St. Johns, Michigan, 14 grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren, her mother, Ora Mudget of Corunna, Michigan, 3 sisters, Sheila and Bob Ralph of Owosso, Michigan, Myrene Spaleny of Corunna, Michigan, Catherine and Berlyn Shattuck of Grand Ledge, Michigan, 1 brother, Toby and Anita Mudget of Corunna, Michigan, She enjoyed the past 3 years with her best friend Robert Kusnier of Owosso, Michigan, her companion Max, her dog. She was prededcesd by her father.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Terry had a request that her friends and family wear no black to her services. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.

Victor A. Zischke

Victor A. Zischke DeWitt, MI Born January 20, 1918, in Riley Township, MI; died January 20, 2006, at the age of 88. Mr. Zischke graduated from Michigan State Agricultural College and was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of Redeemer United Methodist Church and was a private pilot and an instructor pilot. Mr. Zischke was preceded in death by a daughter, Elsie, and his brother, Alton.

Surviving are June, his wife of 63 years; daughters, Ruth Smith and Susan (Bill) Sibrel both of DeWitt; sons, Victor (Shirley) Zischke Jr. of Lansing and David (Lynda) Zischke of DeWitt; grandchildren, Debra, Coleen, Steven, Sharon and Kimberly Zischke, Rose, Angela and Robert Sibrel, Matthew, Ronald and Joanna Zischke; 14 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Reva Frees of DeWitt.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 23, at Noon at Redeemer United Methodist Church, 13980 Schavey Rd., DeWitt, with the Rev. Dr. Rodney J. Kalajainen officiating. Interment will follow in DeWitt Cemetery, DeWitt. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Those desiring may make contributions to the Tri-County Office on Aging, Meals On Wheels Program, 5303 S. Cedar St., Lansing, MI 48911-9955 or to the Redeemer United Methodist Church Food Pantry, in memory of Mr. Zischke. The family is being served by the Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Home, DeWitt.

Mary Magdalyn Hood Crosby

Mary Magdalyn Hood Crosby passed away January 19, 2006 in Grand Rapids. Cremation has been done.
A memorial service announcement will be made at a later date.
