Russell M. Ormsby
Russell M. Ormsby died February 8, 2006 at the age
of 86. Born in Zanesville, Indiana July 24, 1919, the son of Roy and Grace (Beaty) Ormsby.
He attended school in Eaton County and graduated from St. Johns High School in 1937. He
was a member of Price United Methodist Church, a board member and trustee and served as
Treasurer. He was a 4-H Leader for 13 years and a D.H.I.A. member and served on the board.
He was also a member and on the board of M.M.P.A., and the Holstein Friesian Association.
He was a dairy farmer for 45 years. He married Jean Neller April 17, 1942, and she
preceded him in death on April 18, 2000.
Surviving are one daughter, Carol Sitowski of St. Johns, two sons, Lee (Raema) Ormsby of
St. Johns and Dean (Susan) Ormsby of Rockville, Maryland, nine grandchildren, one great
grandson, one sister, Helen Parker of Dewitt and one brother, Darrell Ormsby of
Zephyrhills, Florida. Russell was also preceded in death by infant twin boys, his parents,
and brother, Glen Ormsby, two nieces and one nephew.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 11, 2006 at the Osgood Funeral Home, burial at
South Bingham Cemetery with The Reverends Kay and Merlin Pratt officiating. The family
will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Sympathy may be
expressed in the way of memorials to Pilgrim United Methodist Church or Hazel Findlay
Country Manor in memory of Russell.
Nancy Parker
Nancy Parker died February 7, 2006, at the age of 52. Born in St. Johns on December 20,
1953, the daughter of William and Helen (Ormsby) Parker. She was a member of Price United
Methodist Church.
Surviving are her mother, Helen Parker of DeWitt, brother, William Joseph (Shaula) Parker
of Weatherford, TX and niece, Lisa (Ryan) Maloney of Weatherford, TX. She was preceded in
death by her father, William Parker on February 4, 1993, brother, Kurt Parker and sister,
Judy Parker.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 11, 2006 at the Osgood Funeral Home, burial at
South Bingham Cemetery with the Rev. Merlin Pratt and the Rev. Kay Pratt officiating. The

Aiyana Lynn Howey, infant daughter of Jodie and Trisha (Lemke) Howey, passed away February
7, 2006. She was born in Grand Rapids on November 9, 2005.

Johns, MI.

Allan was born in Carson City, Michigan on August 14, 1965 the son of Allan K. and Donna
E. ( Mitchell ) Terrell. He resided most of his life in Bannister, Michigan and graduated
from Ashley High School with the class of 1983. He earned a technical degree in Auto and
Diesel Mechanics in Phoenix, AZ in 1983. He had just completed an associates degree in
Criminal Justice. Allan married Kathy Milledge in Ashley, Michigan on November 11, 1987.
He was currently working at the Maple Rapids Lumber Mill Inc for the past 15 years. He
owned and operated AandK Recycled Tire Products in Bannister. Allan was an avid deer
hunter, and snowmobiler. He always enjoyed participating in the Mid-Michigan Gas Tractor
Association shows. He also enjoyed golfing, farming and church. He was a loving brother
and uncle. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed entertaining with fireworks. He was
a member of the Bannister United Methodist Church and served as a trustee there.
He is survived by his wife Kathy Terrell of Bannister, MI, mother Donna Terrell of
Bannister, MI, 4 siblings; Deb Thelen of Laingsburg, MI, Diana Luckhardt of Bannister, MI,
Darlene and Phil Lund of Sheridan, MI, Bill and Tammy Terrell of Bannister, MI, 14 nieces
and nephews, 2 great nieces, godson Tim Kirky, mother-in-law Adelia Milledge of Merrill,
MI, brother-in-law Dennis and Sherry Milledge of Ashley, MI, sister-in-law Bonnie and Bill
Dykstra of Rockford, MI, brother-in-law Dale and Heather Milledge of Merrill, MI. He was
predeceased by his father.

Barbara was born in Owosso, Michigan on October 7, 1960 the daughter of Harold D. and Judy
A. ( McCarrick ) Passmore. She resided most of her life in Ashley, Michigan and attended
Ovid-Elsie Schools. Barbara married Danny Tessman Sr. on October 20, 1978. She was
currently working at Hehr International in Chesaning for the past 7 years. Barbara loved
her grandkids. She liked to read, go camping with her family and gardening.
She is survived by her mother Judy Passmore of Ferndale, MI, 4 children; Danny Tessman Jr.
of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Becky Tessman of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Brian Tessman of Durand, MI, Mark

Danny was born on September 30, 1958 the son of Robert and Betty Jean ( Carmen ) Tessman.
He resided most of his life in Ashley, Michigan and attended Ovid- Elsie Schools. Danny
married Barbara Jo Passmore on October 20, 1978. He did Body Shop work all his life. He
enjoyed camping, gardening, watching football, working on cars and playing with his
grankids.
He is survived by 4 children; Danny Tessman Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Becky Tessman of Mt.
Pleasant, MI, Brian Tessman of Durand, MI, Mark Tessman of Ashley, MI, 5 grandchildren;

Robert E. Jones, 75 of rural
Owosso died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006 at his home. Bob was born July 19, 1930 in St. Johns, MI
the son of Walter H. and Josephine Hefty Jones. Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had
worked at Diamond Reo, General Motors, Ovid Farmers Elevator and Chamberlain Lumber Co.On
November 27, 1952 Bob married Lela J. Gregory in Owosso, MI. She preceded him in death on
May 14, 1992. Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his sons, Robert Jones and Special Friend

Larry Strickland
Surrounded by
his children and in the arms of his dedicated and devoted wife, Larry Strickland went to
be with the Lord February 6, 2006 at the age of 63. He was born June 3, 1942 in Owosso, MI
the son of Peter and Maxine (Carlton) Strickland. Larry retired from General Motors as a
Job Setter after 35 years of service, he was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church,
Knights of Columbus, was a Little League Coach for the St. Johns Youth Baseball
Organization for 10 years and was a prop designer for St. Johns High School Theatre
Department. He married Eileen McLaughlin in Seattle, WA on April 15, 1966; and they shared
39 years of marriage. She survives him.
Also surviving are daughters, Lorretta Snyder of St. Johns, Linda (Stephen) Isaacson of
Grand Ledge, son, Lonnie (Jennifer) Strickland of Bath, seven grandchildren, Bobby,
Johnathon and Michaela Snyder of St. Johns, Drew and Erik Isaacson of Grand Ledge, Brandan
and Melody Strickland of Bath, his mother, Maxine Strickland of Coleman, mother in law,
Katie Donohoe of St. Johns, brothers, Erwin (Trina) Strickland of Clare, David Strickland

Homer was born in Fenmore, Michigan on May 22, 1928 the son of Rudolph and Ruby ( Evans )
Hoshield. He resided most of his life in the Elsie area and attended Country School in
Fenmore, MI. Homer married Julia M. Hunt on August 7, 1950 in Angola, Indiana. He retired
from J and H Roll Forming in 1990. He enjoyed playing golf and ice fishing.
Homer is survived by his wife Julia Hoshield of Haslett, MI, children; Diane and Richard
Zimmerman of Owosso, MI, Marlene and Dan Osborn of Williamston, MI, Steven Hoshield of St.
Peters, MO. 6 grandchildren; Tami Osborne, Kevin and Christopher Zimmerman, Brian and

Bion M. Baker
Bion M. Baker passed away, at
home, Saturday, February 4, 2006 at the age of 83. He was born May 27, 1922 in Saginaw, MI
the eldest son of Asa and Lela (Munson) Baker. He was a graduate of Ovid High School and
attended MSU School of Engineering. He served his country during WWII as an airplane
mechanic in the Army Air Force and later became a salesman.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 40 years Alvera; son,
Aaron (Lori) Baker of DeWitt; daughter, Sharon (David) Fitch of Lansing; seven
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ilene and brother Gale.

Harold was born in Lansing, Michigan on December 18, 1935
the son of Leo Michael and Margaret Lucille (Sandel) Slowinski. He graduated from St.
Johns High School with the class of 1956. On September 5, 1959 he married Helen M. Bernath
at St. Cyril's Catholic Church, Bannister, Michigan, and resided most of his life in
Elsie, Michigan. He retired from Midland Ross Corporation in Owosso, Michigan in 1984
after 28 years of service, and was a member of St. Cyril's Catholic Church, Bannister,
Michigan.
Harold was a volunteer for the Ovid Elsie Football
Program for 37 years. He also enjoyed fishing, woodworking and feeding and watching birds.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Helen M. Slowinski
of Elsie, Michigan, 2 daughters, Theresa and Doug Clark of Holt, Michigan, Mary Jo and
Ryan Ackels of St. Johns, Michigan, 2 sons, Mark Slowinski of Elsie, Michigan, Paul and

John P. Hackett DeWitt, MI Age 72, died February 3, 2006;
born July 11, 1933 in Lansing, Michigan where he was a resident all of his life. He was a
member of Valley Farms Baptist Church and the Harrison Moose Lodge. He was an avid
outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing with his family. He was preceded in
death by his sister, Alice Hackett.
Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Melanie; 2 daughters,
Karen (Jana Jirak) Holoweiko of Lansing and Shannon (Aaron) Goodwin of Lowell; 4
grandchildren, Sam, Simon and Seth Holoweiko and Shea Goodwin; 2 brothers, Timothy Hackett

Frances Susann Litchfield died February 2, 2006 at the age
of 68. She was born February 1, 1938 in Toledo, OH the daughter of Wesley Reed and Susan
(Pavlovic) Brown. She received her MSW from Michigan State University, and was a retired
Clinical Director for Catholic Social Services of Muskegon, and then a Private Practice
Social Worker for 11 years until 2005.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Gary) Weisenberger
of Ovid, her son, Mark (Chris) Miller of Kingsley, MI, her grandchildren, Michael
(Johannah) Piggott, Trisha Piggott, Samantha Miller, Casey Miller, and Jessica Miller and
her father. She was preceded in death by her son Joseph Watson and her mother.
There will be no visitation or funeral services at this
time. Sympathies may be expressed in the form of contributions to Breast Cancer Awareness
in Frances' name. The family is being served by the Houghton Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes.

Ronald
Franklin Henning DeWitt, MI Born April 22, 1928, the son of Franklin and Anna (Kaufman)
Henning of DeWitt, MI. He was a member of the DeWitt German Methodist Church and a
graduate of DeWitt High School. On the family dairy farm, he and his father enjoyed
collecting arrowheads and other Indian artifacts. As a farmer he enjoyed working with
their team of draft horses and had a love of gardening. He enjoyed learning about history,
especially his family heritage. He was able to travel to Europe tracing family ancestry
from Germany to Ohio and finally to Clinton County. In his later years he continued
traveling around the country with his wife, Gracie. He enjoyed walking and driving his
1963 Dodge antique pickup.
Surviving are his wife, Gracie Ansley-Henning; 1 daughter,
Sarah Ann Henning of Indian River; and stepchildren, Clifford and Sherry Ansley, James
Ansley, Melanie Ansley-Vanauker, Al Ansley and John Ansley.
Memorial services will be held Monday, February 6, 4:00

Margaret
Crowell, age 87 died February 3, 2006. She was born in Greenbush Township May 13, 1918,
the daughter of Edwin and Ruth (Palmer) Walling. Margaret married Bertrum "Pete"
Crowell August 24, 1936 and he preceded her in death October 29, 1994. She retired from
Ben Franklin, was a member of the First Congregational Church and the Elizabeth Winslow
Division of Women's Fellowship.
Surviving are one son, James (Janice) Crowell of Mancelona, one daughter, Kay Harris of
St. Johns, four grandchildren, and six great grandchildren, sister in law, Letha Walling
and brother in law, Gaylord (Geraldine) Crowell both of St. Johns. In addition to her
husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.

Tony A. Ray, 57, of St. Johns died
Friday, February 3, 2006 at Sparrow Hospital following a short session of cancer. Tony was
born July 9, 1948 in Lansing, MI the son of Charles and Eileen Beckwith Ray. On April 19,
1969 he married Phyllis Clark in DeWitt, MI. He had worked at General Motors in Lansing,
and following his retirement he worked for Dean Transportation as a bus driver. Tony
enjoyed fising, camping, gardening and helping his neighbors. He was a Veteran of the U.
S. Army serving in Viet Nam, a member of the BASS Anglers of Michigan, and the Shiawassee
Chapter of the Harley Davidson Club.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis, a son Brent Ray of St.
Johns and a daughter Ann and Kurt Morris of St Johns; granddaughters, Alexandra and
Arianna Morris; a brother, Tom and Joann Ray of Gladwin, and a sister Linda and Ron
Abraham of Lansing; brothers and sisters in-law, Dorwin and Marilyn Clark of Marion,
Jackie and Roger Barger of Belding and Daniel and Andrea Clark of St. Johns;
mother-in-law, Almeda Clark of Bath He was preceded in death by his parents and father in
law, Walter Clark.

January 31, 2006 at the age of 74. She was born April 18, 1931 in Jackson, MI the daughter
of George and Beatrice (Aungst) Sleight.

Middleton; step-children, Tom Iler, Jim Iler, Mary Iler, Linda Iler; 21 grandchildren; 14
great grandchildren; one brother Don Sleight of Kalkaska. She was preceded in death by her
husband Melvil Iler and a step-daughter Marty.
