Michigan died Sunday, March 12, 2006 at Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor St. Johns, MI. Sue Elaine Frazer age 91 of Prudenville, Michigan died on Thursday, March 9, 2006 in Bradenton, Florida, Funeral services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie chapel on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. Burial will take place at Fairfield Township Cemetery, Elsie, Michigan. Pastor Billie Lou Gillespie-Brown will officiate and visitation will be Tuesday, March 14, 2006 from 3-8 P.M. with the family present 3-5 and 6-8 P.M. Sue was born on February 2, 1915 in Fairfield Township, Michigan, the daughter of Colon and Clara ( Shuster ) Loynes. She graduated from Elsie High School with the class of 1932 and resided most of her life in Owosso, Houghton Lake Michigan and she wintered in Florida. She was married to James Skip Frazer in 1960 in Houghton Lake, Michigan. Skip passed away on April 17, 1987. Sue was a homemaker and she enjoyed playing bingo. Survivors include her daughter, Patricia and Charles Bracey of Ellenton, FL, one sister, Jean and John Loznak of Owosso, MI, 2 grandchildren, Susan and Mike Wilson of LaVergne, TN, Tom and Connie Bracey of Blue Grass, Iowa, 5 great grandchildren, Lyndsey, Justin, Emilie, Erin, Collin and one great- great grandson Andrew. She was predeceased by her parents, husband and 3 brothers. Memorials may be made to Elsie Public Library and charity of the donors choice. Rosalene E. Rosie Peck age 70 of Elsie, Michigan died on Saturday, March 11, 2006 at her home. Funeral services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie, Michigan on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. Mrs. Kathy Leydorf will officiate and burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Elsie, Michigan. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 14, 2006 from 2-8 P.M. with the family present 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Rosalene was born on March 3, 1936 in Owosso, Michigan, the daughter of William V. and Rose ( Kadera ) Zatocil. She graduated from Elsie High School with the class of 1954 and resided most of her life in Elsie, Michigan. On July 31, 1976 she married Carl Peck in Lansing, Michigan. She was a homemaker who enjoyed working in her yard especially loved to work in her flowers. Survivors include her husband Carl Peck of Elsie, Michigan,
4 sons, James and Linda Bensinger of Uehling, Nebraska, John and Yvonne Bensinger of
Perry, Michigan, Michael Bensinger of Flint, Michigan and David and Deborah Bensinger of
Boise, Idaho, Daughter in- law, Sandy Bensinger of Swartz Creek, Michigan, 9 grandchildren
and one great-grandchild, her mother, Rose V. Day of Elsie, Michigan and one brother Gary
and Ruth Zatocil of Waterford, Michigan. She was predeceased by her father, and one
sister, Marveen Zatocil. Rhonda Kay (Simmon) Devereaux passed away Saturday, March 11, 2006 at the age of 41. She was born March 8, 1965 in Fowler the daughter of Steve and the late Marge (Smith) Simmon and lived all her life in the Fowler, St. Johns area. She had a deep love for children and ran a daycare in her home for the last 20 years. Rhonda collected angels and enjoyed being outdoors caring for her flowers and feeding the birds. She loved spending time with her family, friends and her beloved dog Sadie. On March 19, 1982 she married Chris Devereaux and he survives her. Also surviving are three sons Brandon and special friend Jen Sleight of St. Johns, Brent and special friend Kristal Swanchara of St. Johns, Cody at home; one granddaughter Madison; father Steve (Jan) Simmon of Fowler; three brothers Jeff (Donna) Simmon, Steve (Jamie) Simmon all of Fowler, Kevin (Diane) Simmon of St. Johns; three sisters, Tonya (Jim) Platte of Westphalia, Jennifer (Matt) Scott, and Kim (Dennis) OHare all of Fowler; parents-in-law, Robert (Helen) Devereaux of DeWitt; five special brothers and sisters-in-law and their families. A celebration of her life will be held at Smith Hall in St.
Johns on April 2, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to Citizens Bank, 200 W.

St. Johns Ruth L. (Lovas) Bennett, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, to be with her Savior on Friday, March 10, 2006 at the age of 81. She was born May 23, 1924 in Hillsboro, ND the daughter of Halvor and Gudrun (Kjesbo) Lovas. She was member of St. Johns Lutheran Church and a devoted Christian, loving wife and mother. Ruth touched many lives with her loving smile and encouraging attitude. In her youth she was a Voice of America Contest winner and had an opportunity to attend the Julliard School of Music. A gifted musician, Ruth sang in and conducted her church choirs for many years. On December 28, 1946 Ruth married Paul A. Bennett in Fargo, ND and he survives her. Also surviving are her four children, Randy (Carolyn) Bennett of Mt. Pleasant, Joyce (Donald) Ross of Lansing, Cindy (Andy) Deveau of St. Johns, and Tim (Kris) Bennett of Forest Lake, MN; eight grandchildren, Rachel Bennett, Matt and Heather Ross, Emily and Claire Deveau, Paul, Jacob and Daniel Bennett; one sister, Alyce Putz of Salem, OR. She was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at St. Johns Lutheran Church, 511 E. Sturgis St. Johns with Rev. George Brinley officiating. Interment will follow at South Bingham Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Monday at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns 989-224-4422 and she will lie-in-state at the church from 10:00 am until service time on Tuesday. Florine (Bond-Hill) Peabody age 90 of Ovid, Michigan formerly of Elsie, Michigan, died on Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at Ovid Healthcare Center Ovid, MMichigan. Funeral service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel on Monday, March 13, 2006 at 10:00 AM. Burial will take place at Duplain Township Cemetery, Duplain Township, Michigan. Pastor Don Ruff will officiate and visitation will be Saturday, March 11, 2006 from 6-8 P.M. Sunday, March 12, 2006 from 3-8 P.M. with family present 3-5 and 6-8 P.M. Florine was born in St. Johns, Michigan on July 6, 1915, the daughter of John and Olive ( Parks ) Bond. She resided most of her life in the Clinton County area. She graduated from St. Johns Rodney B. High School with the class of 1933. Florine married Allen Hill in Angola, Indiana on March 15, 1937, he passed away in 1951. She then married David Peabody in Lansing, Michigan on July 2, 1954; he passed away on March 18, 1997. She worked as a Telephone Operator in St. Johns and as a Nurses Aide at St. Lawrence Hospital in Lansing and was a member of Duplain Church of Christ. She was involved in all of the womens Fellowship and the Extension clubs. Survivors include 3 daughters, Kaye Cleveland of Haslett, Michigan, Judy and Ron Decker of Williamston, Michigan, Jane and John Cooper of Farwell, Michigan, Daughter in law, Emily Hill of Ovid, Michigan, 3 Step-children, David and Pat Peabody of Lansing, MI, Donora and Richard Stauffer of Lansing, MI, Alice and Roger Miller of Eaton Rapids, MI, Several Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren, Sister-in-law Helen Rueckert of Perry, MI. She was predeceased by her parents, first husband, Allen Hill, second husband, David Peabody and son John Hill on July 23, 2000. Memorial may be made to the Duplain Church of Christ. Schumaker died March 9, 2006 at the age of 96. Born in Bengal Township on March 31, 1909,
the daughter of August and Bertha (Mohnke) Irrer. She was a homemaker and a member of St.
Peter Lutheran Church. Louise married Leon W. Schumaker at St. Peter Lutheran Church on
December 24, 1933 and he preceded her in death on January 3, 1987. Florine Peabody, 90, formerly of Elsie, died Wednesday
March 8, 2006. Services 10 a.m. Monday at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel. |
