Cathy Marie (Nuser) Colthorp

colthorp_kathy.jpg (6809 bytes)Beautiful grandmother, mother, sister, and daughter; died March 19 with family and friends at her side, after a short battle with cancer. Cathy was born Easter Sunday, April 9, 1950 in Lansing to Jim and Rosie Nuser. Cathy grew up in St. Johns where she graduated, Redwings class of '68. She gave married life a try in 1972 to Thomas Colthorp, but as it turned out the sunshine of Florida was her true love. In 1983 Cathy and her two boys moved to Anna Maria Island before settling in Bradenton. A single mom, she never missed a little league or basketball game, was active in school functions, and went back to school herself to become a registered nurse. Cathy was a wonderful artist and was known to paint local storefront windows during the holidays. Claim to fame: running the jackhammer during a stint as a construction worker. Cathy loved her Spartans and her cats, sunsets, the beach and winning big at cribbage and Scrabble. Her sense of humor may be what we will miss most. She was welcomed to heaven by her father James.

She is survived by her mother, Rosemarie of Englewood, FL; sister, Patti (Walt) Amick of Englewood; sons, Jason (Julie) and Ryan, both of St. Johns, MI; several nieces and nephews; 4 grandchildren and many friends north and south.
