Betty J. Hansen

hansen_betty.jpg (5416 bytes)Betty J. Hansen died May 1, 2006, at the age of 90. Born in St. Johns on July 22, 1915. She was a retired secretary for Clinton National Bank, a member of the First United Methodist Church in St. Johns, Clinton County Senior Citizen Drop-In Center and Senior Daybreak of Cadillac. Betty married Peter W. Hansen in St. Johns on July 12, 1958 and he preceded her in death on October 24, 1991.

Surviving are her children, Rexene (Stephen) Ziska of Cadillac, son, Jack (Kathryn) Hansen of Mt. Pleasant and Rosalie Sauders of St. Johns, 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Gracia, Marvel and Muriel McCracken, daughter, Olive Yurcso and son-in-law, Stephen Yurcso.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Friday, May 5, 2006 at the Osgood Funeral Home, burial at Vinewood Cemetery, Edmore, with the Rev. Steve Weinberger officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorials to Clinton County Senior Citizen Drop-In Center or Daybreak Adult Center, 315 Whaley St., Cadillac, MI 49601.

Donna Bolam

bolam.jpg (3996 bytes)Donna M. Bolam passed away Monday, May 1, 2006 at the age of 70. She was born March 30, 1936 in Detroit, the daughter of Julius Oliver and Lula Mae (Horney) Lowe. Donna was a homemaker and her life’s joy was spending time with family and friends. She was an avid reader, enjoyed sewing, playing euchre, listening to music and playing her piano, taking trips to the casino and spending time sitting in the sun. On April 15, 1955 Donna married Robert Bolam, in Detroit, and he survives her.

Also surviving are two daughters, Karen (Mark) Crosby of St. Johns, MI; Cindy (Gary Holmes) Bolam of Commerce Township, MI; two sons, Robert Steven (Pamela) Bolam of Howell, MI; Michael William (Susan) Bolam of Hartland, MI; seven grandchildren, Christine, Michael, Tyler, Jacob, Andrew, Alex, and Amanda; two brothers, Edwin Lowe of St. Johns, MI and Nelson (Laurie Shipley) Lowe of Westland, MI.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Friday, May 5, 2006 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns, MI 989-224-4422 . Interment will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to U of M Comprehensive Cancer Center, 1500 E. Medical Center Dr., CCGC 6-303, Ann Arbor, MI 48109-0944.

Bernice T. Caudy

caudy_bernice.jpg (3567 bytes)Bernice T. Caudy, loving wife, mother and grandmother, went to be with her Lord after a long battle with cancer on Friday, April 28, 2006 at the age of 77. She was born August 26, 1928 in Hubbardston, MI the daughter of Henry and Magdelene (Domelle) Bozung. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Ladies Altar Society. In Bernice’s younger years she worked as a doctor’s assistant and practical nurse at Carson City Hospital. She was a homemaker, ran a in home daycare for six years and in her spare time made afghans for those in need in the Appalachian Mountains. Bernice married Joseph J. Caudy Sr. on April 28, 1962 and he survives her.

Also surviving are four children, Kathy (Jeff) Fowler of St. Johns, Jim (Cinda) Caudy of Sunfield, Joe (Norma) Caudy of Freeland and Joan (Scott) Wohlfert of St, Johns; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Joan Bozung of St. Johns, Jeanette (Harry) Sanborn of Hubbardston; three brothers, Raymond (Judy) Bozung of Fowler, Rev. Fr. James Bozung of Grand Rapids, Eugene Bozung of Hubbardston. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, infant, Gerald and Alvin Bozung and two sisters, Mildred and Margaret Bozung.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated 10:30 am Monday, May 1, 2006 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 109 Linden St. Johns with Rev. Fr. James Bozung, Rev. Fr .Raymond Urbanek, and Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy, Pastor as Con-Celebrants. Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 pm Saturday and Sunday with a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm Sunday at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns 989-224-4422. Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel St. Johns, MI on May 1, 2006 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Adame will officiate. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 30, 2006 from 4-8 P.M.

Satonka was born in Lansing, Michigan on July 11, 1978 the daughter of Thomas V. Gravelyn and Machelle M. ( Austin ) Burns. She resided most of her life in the St. Johns Area and graduated from St. Johns High School with the class of 1997. Satonka married Keon Smith on August 28, 1998 in Lansing, MI. She worked as a CNA as a home health care provider. Satonka was a member of Lions Den Church, Lansing, MI.

She is survived by her father Thomas V. Gravelyn, mother Machelle ( Austin ) Burns and step-father Russell Merritt, sister Tiffany Burns of Pompeii MI, 4 brothers; Joshua Burns of Pompeii, MI, Michel Gravelyn of Pompeii, MI, Kirk and Lisa Gravelyn of Petoskey, MI, Jeff and Michelle Gravelyn of Grand Rapids, MI, grandparents Virgle and Linda Austin of St. Johns, MI, aunt and uncle Lora and Danny Valasek, in-laws James and Mary Smith of Lansing, MI, several aunts and uncles, several nieces and nephews, and special aunts; Dorthann Teed, and Cyndi Alaniz.

Elizabeth “Betty” Finch

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel on Monday, May 1, 2006 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Edwin Snook will officiate with burial at Riverside Cemetery Elsie, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2006 from 6-8 P.M. and Sunday, April 30, 2006 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.

Elizabeth was born in Trenton, New Jersey on October 7, 1922 the daughter of Alexander Manning. She resided most of her life in the Elsie Area and graduated from Ryder Business College. Elizabeth married Ira Finch on August 26, 1948 in Trenton, New Jersey, Ira died March 1986. She worked at ITT Hancock ( Lear Corp) where she worked on the floor for 26 years, retiring in 1986. She was an avid reader and a regular at the Elsie Public Library, she enjoyed bowling, and watching golf on television.

She is survived by 2 daughters Barb and Kerby Miller of Elsie, MI, Bee and Jeff Gregory of Wellston, MI, 3 sons Glenn and Annette Finch of St. Johns, MI, Greg and Kathy Finch of Empire, MI, Don and Beverly Finch of Haslett, MI, 18 granchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 1 sister Bernice Ketchum of Trenton, NJ, and 1 brother James and Carolyn Manning of Lawrenceville, NJ. She is predeceased by parents, husband Ira, 1 sister, Virginia Egolf, and 1 brother Bud Manning.

Janet Ann Bogan

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel on Friday, April 28, 2006 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Eric Stanton will officiate. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2006 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.

Janet was born in Lansing, Michigan on February 24, 1944 the daughter of Kenneth Edward and Maude Esther ( Sutherby ) Walker. She resided most of her life in Ovid, Michigan graduated from Ovid-Elsie High School. Janet married Herbert Bogan on July 16, 1982 in Corunna, Michigan. She worked for Alternitive Services of Shiawassee County. She enjoyed bowling and her dogs.

She is survived by husband Herber Bogan of Carland, MI, 2 daughters Lydia Champion of Rockford, IL, Jodi Bogan of Carland, MI, and 1 brother Marion and Mary Jane Walker of Ovid, MI. She is predeceased by her parents, and 2 brothers Benjamin and Rodney Walker.
