Uleta Mae Young

young_uleta.jpg (4822 bytes)Uleta Mae Young, 75 died Tuesday evening at Sparrow Hospital. She was born May 5, 1931 in Cass City, MI the daughter of Albert and Anna (Miller) Taylor. Uleta graduated from Elkton High School. On March 8, 1952 she married Willard Young. He preceded her in death in July, 2003. She worked at DeWitt Schools for many years as a cook.

Uleta was a member of the Red Hat Society, the Hobby Club and Card Clubs. She enjoyed her crafts, games, travel and her family. She is survived by 2 sons, Larry of Grand Ledge and Dale and Cindy of Sparta, MI;      2 daughters Debra and John Nixon of Lansing and Sue and David Wood of Beavercreek, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, Nicole, Michelle,Tom and Heidi, Tim and Ashley Young, Sara, Amanda Amy and Kelli Nixon, Hanna, Alexander and Nicholas Wood; Great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Young; a sister Delores and Don Cox of Roscommon, a sister-in-law, LaVerda Young of Elkton, MI

Funeral services will be held at Redeemer United Methodist Church on Friday, May 12, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Rod Kalajainen officiating. Burial at Chapel Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Redeemer United Methodist Church, 13980 Schavey Rd., DeWitt on Thursday May 11, 2006 6-9 P.M. and one hour prior to service time Friday. The family is being served by the Keck-Coleman Funeral Home.

Paul A. Schueller

Schueller-Paul.jpg (8918 bytes)Paul A. Schueller, age 86, died Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at Clinton Memorial Hospital. He was born in Fowler, MI on January 15, 1920 to Joseph and Anna (Lenneman) Schueller. Paul married Gladys Thelen on August 17, 1950 in Fowler and she survives him. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a banker, a U.S. Army veteran serving in both theaters of WWII, a member of the V.F.W. Post #3733, and a Past-Post Commander of American Legion Post #153.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his three sons, Dan, Kent and Ray Schueller, daughter, Jane Schueller, granddaughter, Kari Schueller, brother, Jim (Irene) Schueller, brother-in-law Max Thelen, and sisters-in-law Elsie Zuker, Donna Schueller, Gert Schueller and Angie Schueller. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Bob, Ed, Ron, Joe, Mark and Dick, sister Erma, and sisters-in law Virginia Schueller, Laurine Schueller and Linda Schueller.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Friday, May 12, 2006 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 109 Linden Street, St. Johns, MI with the Reverend Father Eoin Murphy, officiating. Burial will follow at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery, Fowler with military graveside services provided by the Fowler V.F.W. and St. Johns Honor Guard. Relatives and friends may call at Osgood Funeral Home, 104 E. Cass Street, St. Johns from Thursday, May 11, 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 PM with a vigil service at 7:00 PM. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorial contributions to the Clinton County Veteran's Memorial.

Dorothy Kaye Acker

Dorothy Kaye Acker (Colondo), 68, of Fort Wayne, died Friday, May 5, 2006, 12:05 a.m., at her residence. Born in St. Johns, Mich., she was a registered nurse at Lutheran Hospital. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and a volunteer host at Fort Wayne International Airport.

Survived by her husband, Dr. Herb Acker; daughters, Erin (Bob) Floyd and Kristin (Craig) Brownell, both of Fort Wayne; sons, Dr. Phillip (Julie) Acker D.D.S. of Millstadt, Ill. and Grant (Lora) Acker of Fort Wayne; brother, Larry Colando of Irvine, Calif.; sister, Beverly Renbarger of Fort Wayne; and 11 grandchildren.

Service is 11 a.m. Monday at Peace Lutheran Church, 4900 Fairfield Avenue, with calling one hour prior to service. The Rev. Theodore Taykowski officiating. Calling is also from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road. Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorials to Fort Wayne Children's Zoo or Unity Lutheran School.

Charles C. Coletta

coletta_charles.jpg (4126 bytes)Charles C. Coletta passed away Sunday, May 7, 2006 at the age of 87. He was born October 20, 1918 in Muskegon, MI the son of Charles and Flavian (Bourdo) Coletta. Charlie was active in many civic groups and was a public servant for many years in St, Johns. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, St. Johns Rotary Club, St. Johns Camera Club, and was an avid golfer and member of the former Clinton County Country Club. He served as a St. Johns City Commissioner from 1950 to 1970 and was a former Mayor of St. Johns, was a former Clinton County Supervisor, was a trustee on the Clinton Area Care Center Board and was a Board member and served as Board Chair of Clinton Memorial Hospital and the Clinton Health Foundation. He retired from Sealed Power (Dana Corp.) as an engineer. On November 17, 1941 he married Velma LaNore and she survives him.

Also surviving is a son, Richard (Kathryn) Coletta of St. Johns; daughter-in-law, Barbara Coletta of Bradenton, FL; five grandsons, Brant (Karen), Spencer, Richard and fiancée Dawn Richardson, Jason and James; two brothers, Maxwell (Shirley) Coletta and Frank (Mary Jane) Coletta; five sisters, Marian (Don) Drier, Velma (Oscar) Moore, Eva Pringle, Angela Moore, Alice (Carl) Asselmeier. He was preceded in death by a son Edward, two sisters, Edith Zizerato and Donna Couldry, and one brother, Henry.

The Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 am, Thursday, May 11, 2006 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 109 Linden St., St. Johns with Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy officiating. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Tuesday and 2-4 and 6-8 pm Wednesday with a Vigil Service at 7:30 pm Wednesday at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns 989-224-4422. Memorial Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel on Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at 11:00 AM. Pastor O’Ryan Rickard will officiate.

Diana was born in St. Johns, Michigan on April 10, 1944 the daughter of Robert and Catherine ( Powers ) Harper. She resided most of her life in the St. Johns Area and graduated from St. Johns High School with the class of 1962. Diana married Gary Bashore on October 10, 1986 in St. Johns, Michigan. She worked at Evergreen Dental office in Lansing and retired in 2001. Diana was a member of Greenbush United Methodist and the VFW Ladies Auxilary Post # 1075.

She is survived by her husband Gary L. Bashore of St. Johns, MI, 2 sons; Craig Boettger of St. Johns, MI, Todd and Lisa Boettger of St. Johns, MI, 2 step-children; Bobbi Bashore of Alpena, MI, Chad and Lisa Bashore of Ovid, MI, parents Robert and Catherine Harper of Harrison, MI, sister Kathy and Stan Hibbler of Elsie, MI, grandchildren; Ashleigh Boettger, Austin and Owen Bashore, and her cockerspaniel Andy. She is predeceased by Grandma Powers.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Clinton County. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel.

Marie Camburn

Marie Camburn age 91 of Ashley, Michigan died on Friday, May 5, 2006 in Pensacola, Florida. Funeral services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel on Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. Visitation will be on Tuesday afternoon 1:00 P.M. until time of services and burial will take place at the Eureka Cemetery, Eureka, Michigan. Pastor Bill Foldesi will officiate.

Marie was born in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan on April 1, 1915 the daughter of Frederick and Esther Mary ( Beach ) Weston. She resided most of her life in Gratiot County, Michigan. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School with the class of 1932. On November 29, 1934 she married Bernice Camburn in Ithaca, Michigan, he died March 19, 1984. Marie had worked for Parr’s Pharmacy in St. Johns, Michigan for 21, years until her retirement, and was a member of the Shepard Church of the Brethren, Shepard, Michigan.

Survivors include, 2 daughters, Judith and George Brown of Diamondale, Michigan, Dorothy and Gary Fisk of Panama City, Florida, 8 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, 4 brothers, Kenneth Weston of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, Donald Weston of Georgia, Richard and Donna Weston of Lansing, Michigan, Wilbur Weston of Dewitt, Michigan, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, a son Clive, a sister and 3 brothers. Memorials may be made to The Alzheimer’s Foundation. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel.

Loree Campbell Findlay

findlay_l.jpg (4692 bytes)Loree Campbell Findlay, age 94, died Sunday, May 7, 2006. Born February 3, 1912 in Essex Township, the son of John and Katherine (Campbell) Findlay. He was raised by his father and step-mother, Annie (Campbell) Findlay, following the death of his mother. He retired from farming in 1960 and Sealed Power in 1977. He realized many goals in his lifetime. One of his greatest fulfillments was that each of his children, and in turn, each of his grandchildren graduated from an institution of higher education. Loree married Myrtle Green on September 1, 1937 and she survives him.

Also surviving are children, Catherine (James) Carroll of St. Johns; John "Jack" (Claire) Findlay of Spring Lake; Janet (Owen) Orndorff of Boise, ID; Jean (Dennis) Tuttle of Spring, TX; ten grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Loree also is survived by one brother, Donald (Glenna) Findlay; sister-in-law, Alice Bullard; brothers-in-law, Dale Boyles and Edwin (Kathleen) Beattie. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Gertrude Boyles and Hazel Beattie.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at the Osgood Funeral Home, 104 E. Cass Street, St. Johns with the Reverend Charles Krueger, Chaplain at Great Lakes Hospice officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorials to Great Lakes Hospice or Clinton Memorial Hospital.

Jerold R. Flowers

Born October 16, 1934 to Wilbur and Lorena (Martin) Flowers, Jerold married Gloria Marie LaJoie October 17, 1955 in VanBuren, Maine. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a farmer, and retired from Federal Mogul in 1990. Jerold was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Randee Flowers.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria; four children, Jerilyn Flowers of Ga., Brenda (Ken) Barber of St. Johns, Barry (Lynette) Flowers of St. Johns, and Christine Shutes (Brent La Bar) of St. Johns; eight grandchildren, Brock, Nicole (Josh), Rachel, Joshua, Jerold, Courtney, Madison, Brianne, one great grandson, Chandler; sisters, Jean (William) Mayers, Marilyn (Ron) Herbruck Hall, and Carolyn (John) Beck all of St. Johns.

Funeral Services will be held at Duplain Church Of Christ St. Johns, Michigan on Saturday, May 6, 2006 at 11:00 AM. Rev. Dan Cameron will officiate with burial at Riverside Cemetery Elsie, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2006 from 6-8 P.M. and Friday, May 5, 2006 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.

Cathryn was born in Eureka, MI on September 12, 1906 the daughter of Floyd and Etta ( Teets ) Wagner. She resided most of her life in Elsie area and attended Eagle Country School in Eureka and St. Johns Schools. Cathryn married Kenneth Mead, he passed in 1946. She then married Casper Mead on August 26, 1950 in Elsie, Michigan. He passed away in 1984. She was a homemaker. She was also a founding member of the West Elsie Extension Club Cathryn enjoyed baking for the Elsie Dairy Festival and she enjoyed her garden. She also enjoyed her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She walked daily. Cathryn was a member of Duplain Church of Christ.

She is survived by son Gordon and Mary Mead of Elsie, MI, daughter-in-law Jerrine Mead of Elsie, MI, brother-in-law Howard Bryant of Ovid, MI, sister Cecile Davis of Eaton Rapids, MI, 5 grandchildren; Dennis Mead of Owosso, MI, Cindy and Alex Vargas of Owosso, MI, Cathy Rae Mead of Elsie, MI, Laurie and Jim Decatur of Dewitt, MI, Karla and John Schultz of Corunna, MI, 6 great grandchildren; John Mead of Owosso, MI, Mathew Mead of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Meagon and Ken Palmer of Ovid, MI, Cristy Slauterback of Owosso, MI, Heather Gruber of Bath, MI, Phillip Gruber of Florida, MI, 7 great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, son Wayne Mead in 1996, 3 sisters, Wilma, Pauline, Crystal, and 2 brothers Robert and Ward Wagner.
