Jessie James Hebeler

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel Elsie, MI on Friday, June 2, 2006 at 2:00 PM. Pastor Edwin Snook will officiate with burial at Maple Grove Cemetery Ovid, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2006 from 2-8 P.M.

Jessie was born in Owosso, Michigan on April 21, 1986 the son of Michael Hebeler and Lesia ( Wardwell ) Hebeler. He resided most of his life in Ovid, Michigan and graduated from Ovid-Elsie High School with the class of 2004. He enjoyed hanging out with his friends.

He is survived by his mother Lesia (Thomas Blunt) Hebeler of Ovid, MI, father Michael (Cathy Masarik) Hebeler of Ovid, MI, sister: Jodie Hebeler of Midland, MI, brother Michael Hebeler of Ovid, MI, Cousin Jason Smith of Ovid, MI, step-sister: Heather Masarik of St. Johns, MI, grandparents Robert and Pauline Hebeler of Ovid, MI, Ivan and Doris Wardwell of Elsie, MI, and girl-friend Sarah Thelen of Bannister, MI.

Memorials may be made the family. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.

Lloyd Robert "Jim" Ernst

Ernst-Lloyd.jpg (8725 bytes)Lloyd Robert "Jim" Ernst died May 30, 2006, at the age of 82. Born in St. Johns on July 5, 1923, the son of John and Rose (Martin) Ernst. He was a retired Grand Trunk Railroad employee, member of St. John's Lutheran Church, V.F.W. Post #3733-Fowler and American Legion Post #153-St. Johns. Lloyd married Reva Rininger in Fowler on February 22, 1945 and she survives him.

Also surviving is her daughter, Diana (Leon) Kramer, sons, James (Barb) Ernst and John (Julie) Ernst, all of St. Johns, 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, sister, Frances Burl and brother, John Ernst. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Jeffery Ernst, sisters, Florence Marten, Esther Ernst and Laura Bashore, brothers, Harry Ernst, Herman Ernst, Alfred Ernst and Leo Ernst.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 2, 2006 at St. John's Lutheran Church, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with Pastor George Brinley officiating. The family will receive friends 6-8 P.M. Wednesday, 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Thursday at the Osgood Funeral Home. Military graveside services provided by V.F.W. Post #3733 and St. Johns Honor Guard. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorials to St. Johns Youth Baseball Association or St. John's Lutheran Church.

Jerry B. Austin

austin_jerry.jpg (4598 bytes)Jerry B. Austin Dimondale, MI Age 72, died May 28, 2006. Mr. Austin was born March 15, 1934 in Ovid, a son of Elmore and Grace (Hoag) Austin. A retired business administrator, he was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Dimondale, Dimondale Lions Club, Life member of the Moose Lodge (Otsego). He was active in sports and played football for Western Michigan University, was a life member of the "W" Club and was an avid hunter, fisherman, bowler and golfer.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Onalee; four children, Barbara (David) Blanchard of Martin, Brian (Sheryl) Austin of Otsego, Beth (Alan) Charles of Leslie and Bryce (Toni) Austin of Glasgow, KY; 14 grandchildren; 11 1/2 great-grandchildren; his aunt, Bonita Placer of Lansing; and several cousins and numerous extended Baese family members.

Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2006 at First Presbyterian Church of Dimondale with the Rev. Sharon Zurakowski officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice, 2675 S. Cochran, Charlotte, MI 48813. Arrangements by Field and Leik Funeral Home, Dimondale.

Lee R. Dahiher

daniher_lee.jpg (3516 bytes)Lee R. Daniher, 58, of Port Hadlock, WA formerly of Ovid died May 17, 2006 at his home in Port Hadlock, WA of Cancer. Lee was born Sept 23, 1947, to William J. and Beulah L. (Jackson) Daniher in St. Johns, MI. His first job was at a General Motors car factory in Lansing, MI. Lee served with the U.S. Navy as a radioman 1st Class in the South Pacific during the Vietnam War. He trained in communications: SAT-Com and Morse Code, then worked in the cable TV industry in California, Alaska and Washington State. He was a member of the Society of Cable Television Engineers. Lee moved to Port Hadlock in 1993. On Sept. 18, 1994 he married Karen L. Hurlburt in Sacramento, CA.   Lee was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Rotary, Lions, and the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. He enjoyed collecting coins and traveling. His family and friends were important to him.

Survived by his wife, Karen; sons William James Daniher of Richland WA, and Richard Lee Daniher of Friday Harbor, WA., daughter Jennifer Ann Wilson of Perris, CA; five grandchildren, brother Bob Dahiher and sister Pat Serviss. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers Bill and Jim, and sisters June Clock and Nadine Hurst.

Memorial services are at 1 p.m. Friday, June 2 at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Chimacum, WA. Vera L. Bryant

bryant_vera.jpg (4568 bytes)Vera L. Bryant, beloved mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend passed away at home on May 25, 2006, at the age of 87. Vera Lucille Bryant was born in Greenbush Township on December 9, 1918, the daughter of Guy and Nina Silvernail. She attended Richmond School, St. Johns High School, and Clinton County Normal where she received her teaching certificate. On June 25, 1937 she was united in marriage to John H. Bryant. They enjoyed 57 years together that ended with his death on December 31, 1994. They were blessed with two daughters, Karlene Kaye and Linda, and later grandson, Steven R. Eckert II and granddaughter, Kimberly K. Eckert.

After teaching for seven years, Vera continued her education through night classes and summer classes at Central Michigan University where she received her B.A. and M.A. degrees in Elementary Administration. She taught for 33 years, serving the last ten years as an administrator at Eureka Elementary and Perrin Palmer Elementary. She was a member of the First Congregational Church, Congregators, Vespers, the Clinton County Chapter of Retired Teachers, and a board member of Hospice for Clinton County.

Vera is survived by her two daughters, Karlene Kaye Waggoner (Robert) and Linda R. Bryant, both of St. Johns, grandchildren, Steven R. Eckert II of Raleigh, NC, Kimberly K. Eckert of Lansing, special friend, Joe Greer of Traverse City and sister, Ramona Harper Norris of Bullhead City, AZ. Sisters Leta Fisher, Reta Gower, brother, Carl Wayne Silvernail, and companion, Clyde Maneval preceded her in death.

Services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at the Osgood Funeral Home, interment at Eureka Cemetery with the Rev. Matt Olson and the Rev. Cayle Beagle officiating. Family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 PM Monday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorials to Sparrow Hospice-Clinton County or the First Congregational Church.

Janet L. Erridge

erridge_janet.jpg (5478 bytes)Janet L. Erridge, died at her home in St. Johns, on Thursday, May 25, 2006, after a courageous and hard-fought battle with breast cancer. She was born on December 14, 1959, in Grayling, Michigan, the daughter of Gerald A. and Jaqueline A. (Kolka) Worden. At the time of her illness, Jan was employed by the Accounting Section within the Bureau of State Lottery, where she will be greatly missed by all of her "Lottery Friends". Life is not measured by breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

Jan is survived by one brother, Dean Worden of Grayling, her four children, whose existence on this earth took her breath away. They include NiCole (Christopher) Kowatch of St. Johns, Nicholas Erridge of Kalamazoo, Meghan Erridge of St. Johns, and Matthew Erridge of Portage. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Clayton and Jacob Kowatch of St. Johns, and many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Geraldine Worden, and one brother, Mitchell Worden.

There will be no service. In lieu of flowers, Jan requested that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, in an effort to help find a cure for breast cancer. The family is being served by the Osgood Funeral Home in St. Johns.

Benice Hubbell-Lee

Benice Hubbell-Lee age 84 of St. Johns, Michigan died on Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at Ovid Healthcare Center.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. at the First United Methoidst Church of St. Johns, MI. There will be no visitation. Pastor Margery Schleicher will officiate.

Bernice was born in Pompeii, MI on December 2, 1921 the daughter of Howard and Dora (Peters) Evitts. She gradutated from Ithaca High School and resided in Cambell, CA for 30 years. She was a seretary at the Cambell Fire Department in California and served on the board at the UMC of Cambell, CA. She survived the 1989 earthquake in California. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of St. Johns, MI.

She is survived by her daughter Janet Moor of Washington, 2 sons; Richard Salmon of Indiana, Michael Hubbell of Texas, 8 grandchildren, sister Wanda Baker of St.Johns, MI and brother John Evitts of Alma, MI. She is predeceased by her parents, 3 sisters, and 1 brother.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel.
