Allie Marian Brimley

Allie Marian Brimley, age 88, died July 11, 2006. Born June 15, 1918, the daughter of Alphon E. and Rosa Bell (Eagleson) Wheeler and was a life member of the Greenbush United Methodist Church and the Disabled American Veterans. She married William Bellingar July 20, 1935 and he preceded her in death in 1974. Marian then married Edward Brimley August 2, 1986; and he preceded her in death on June 13, 1998.

Surviving are two sons William (Patricia) Bellingar of Las Vegas and Robert (Judy) Bellingar of St.Johns, two stepsons Randy (Colleen) Brimley of Owosso and Rudy (Evelyn) Schultz of Bath and two step daughters, and Barbara Caterino of Lansing, and Virginia (Gary) Wilson of Grand Ledge, nineteen grandchildren, and many great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Alice Hicks, step daughter, Margaret Beedy, four brothers, James, Gordon, Charles, and Lester Wheeler and three sisters, Olive Gillette, Rosa Richardson, and Alice Wheeler.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, July 14, 2006 at the Osgood Funeral Home in St. Johns, burial in Eureka Cemetery with Pastor O’Ryan Rickard officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Thurday at the funreral home. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorials to the American Diabetes Association.

Lucile J. Dase

dase_lucille.jpg (3752 bytes)Lucile J. Dase, Mason Age 87, passed away on July 11, 2006; she was born in Clinton County on September 4, 1918 and has been a lifelong resident of the area. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Holt.

Surviving are her two daughters, Vicki (Gary) Wilcox of Mason and Sharon Looney of Las Vegas, NV; 5 grandchildren, Marcia (Rich) O'Brien, Darin (Gina) Wilcox, Dirk (Marlo) Wilcox, Kristin (Jake) Godak and Bert Looney; 8 great-grandchildren, Andrew, Tom and Claire O'Brien, Dylan Wilcox, Sophie Wilcox, Gabe, Layne and Isaac Godak; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jacob and Lee Dase, Marilyn Dase; many nieces and nephews.

A Service of Celebration and Victory in Christ will be conducted Friday, July 14, 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 2418 N. Aurelius Road, Holt with Pastor Dean Poellet, officiating. Interment will take place in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Lansing. The family will receive friends at the Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Homes, 621 S. Jefferson, Mason Thursday from 6-8 p.m. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Matthew Lutheran Church in memory of Mrs. Dase.

Delbert Riley Blizzard

blizzard_delbert.jpg (5395 bytes)Delbert Riley Blizzard was born in DeWitt, Michigan on October 29, 1917; died July 10, 2006 in St. Johns, Michigan. Dawn, his wife of 59 years, preceded him in death in 2001. A Veteran of WWII, he retired from Oldsmobile in 1980.

Surviving are his 2 daughters, Pamela Blizzard of Carson City, MI and Jeri (Dennis) Spencer of Laingsburg, MI; two grandchildren, Michelle (Jeffrey) Pryslak of Dexter, MI and Matthew Spencer of Holt, MI; three great-grandchildren, Rachel and Spencer Pryslak and Brenden Spencer; 1 sister, Marguerite (Donald) Strayer.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 13, 11:00 a.m. at Deepdale Memorial Gardens, Lansing with Mark St. Louis of DeWitt Christian Church, officiating. The family will receive friends at the Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing, Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Delbert's name to Great Lakes Christian College, 6211 W. Willow Hwy., Lansing, MI 48917 in memory of Mr. Blizzard.

Stanley L. Bunce

bunce_stanley.jpg (4966 bytes)Stanley L. Bunce age 89 of Shepherd, Michigan died Sunday, July 09, 2006 at Schnepp Healthcare Center, St. Louis, Michigan. Funeral services will be at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel on Tuesday, July 11, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be Monday form 3-8 P.M. and burial will be at Ferris Center Cemetery, Vestaburg, Michigan. Pastor David Nicholson, from Ferris Center Church of Christ will officiate.

Stanley was born on May 5, 1917 in Vestaburg, Michigan the son of Dayton and Tillie ( St. Peter ) Bunce. On May 8, 1937 he married Helen F. Siegmund, and Helen died on October 13, 2003. They resided most of their lives in the Pleasant Valley and St. Johns, Michigan areas. He was a farmer and also worked and retired from Clinton County Road Commission in 1979 and was a member of the Church of Christ. Stanley enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing cards and traveling.

Survivors include his 3 daughters, Harriett and Gerald Fairchild of Shepherd, Michigan, Betty and Dale McClintic of Lake George, Michigan, Linda Garrod of Houghton Lake, Michigan, 7 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, 7 sisters and 2 brothers, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Dwight, wife, parents and 5 sisters and 1 brother. Memorials can be made to Greendale Senior Center, Shepherd, Michigan. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, 117 North East Street, St. Louis, Michigan.

Geraldine R. Wieber

wieber_geraldine.jpg (4229 bytes)Geraldine R. Wieber died Saturday, July 8, 2006 at the age of 82. She was born June 1, 1924 in Westphalia, MI the daughter of Peter and Eleanora (Fandel) Braun. She was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers, and the Daughters of Isabella. Geraldine was a former member of the VFW Auxiliary, and was a former Cub Scout Den Mother. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, baking, crafts, square dancing, bowling and working in her flower garden. Geraldine married Leon Wieber on August 23, 1944 and he survives her.

Also surviving is one daughter, Diane (Dr. Bruce) Beachnau of Portland; four sons, John (Vicki) of Fowler, Paul Thomas (Colleen) of South Bend, IN, Terry (Janice) of Westphalia, Jeff (Julie) of Fowler; 17 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; one sister, Dolores Snitgen of St. Johns; three brothers, Vincent Braun of Muir, Pete (Barbara) Braun of Houston, TX, Bill Braun of Fowler; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Patricia Braun of Fowler, Mary Brown and Edgar Conley of St. Johns; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Bruce Anthony, four brothers, Norm, Paul, Clemens, and Francis Braun; three sisters, infant Catherine, Marie Conley, and Dorothy VanLoon.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fowler with Rev. Fr. Timothy E. MacDonald as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-9 pm Monday and 2-4 and 7-9 pm Tuesday at Most Holy Trinity Church Activity Center, 11159 Kent St. Fowler. A Rosary will be prayed at 8:00 pm Monday and at 3:00 pm Tuesday with a Vigil Service at 8:00 pm Tuesday at the Activity Center. Memorials may be made to Great Lakes Hospice, the American Diabetes Association, or the National Kidney Foundation. The family is being served by the  Keck-Coleman Funeral Home

Donald Cressman

cressman_donald.jpg (4570 bytes)Donald L. Cressman, 73 died Thursday, July 6, 2006. He was born March 1, 1933 in St. Johns the son of Ernest and Ellen Worden Cressman. Don graduated from St. Johns High School and was a factory worker and for the last 12 years worked in housekeeping at Hazel Findlay Country Manor. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. On Aug. 5, 1961 he married Priscilla Cordray in St. Johns.

He is survived by his wife Prsicilla; 2 sons Jeffrey and Kris Flores of St. Johns and Michael and Jennifer Dollaway of Twin Lake, MI.; grandchildren, Trevor, Nicholas and Evan Cressman; brothers, Gary and Joyce Cressman of Prudenville and Terry and Jane Cressman of Twin Lake, MI; sisters, Betty Harlow of Wacousta, Bonnie and Wes Smith of St. Johns and Tamra Roy of Wooden Shoe, MI.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Robert.

Funeral services will be held at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, Monday, July 10, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Charles Krueger officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, 6-8 P.M. and Sunday, 2-8 P.M. Memorials may be made to Great Lakes Hospice.

James Hastings

He was born in Detroit on February 9, 1938, to Don and Ida Hastings, and was the eldest of four children: Mary (Alexander-deceased), Russell and Francis. Jim graduated from Cathedral Central Boys High School in 1956 and joined the Navy in 1957, where he served three years of active duty and three years of Reserves. He was a fundraiser at Guest House Sanitarium and later as an account executive for AT&T until becoming disabled with rheumatoid arthritis at age 40.

Jim is survived by his adoring wife, Gloria (Madison), four unique and amazing children: daughters, Monique (Williamston) and Dorothy (Topeka, KS), and sons, Rafe (Tamara, Littleton, CO) and Shawn (Lansing). Jim took great delight in being "Grandpa Jim" to his four very bright grandchildren: Cheyenne (6) and Najie (5) of Topeka, and Joel (almost 3) and Violet (17 mos.) of Littleton. Jim and Gloria found great joy in their involvement in Marriage Encounter and many volunteer and church activities. Exhibiting a positive attitude and an ability to laugh at himself and life in general, Jim motivated many others to do the same. Jim will be missed by his family, friends and those whose lives he touched.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 9, 2006 from 2-4, 6-8 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw Street, Lansing, MI. Funeral services Monday, July 10, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Ovid, Michigan with visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Contributions may be made to Holy Family Church, 620 Mabbit Road, Ovid, MI 48866 or Hospice House of Mid-Michigan.

Margaret Elizabeth Kowalk

kowalk_margaret.jpg (6004 bytes)Margaret Elizabeth Kowalk passed away peacefully on the fourth of July 2006 at the age of 85. She was born to Joseph and Elizabeth Wilson on December 13, 1920, in Guthrie County, Iowa, and spent most of her childhood in Stuart, Iowa. Margaret graduated from Bowling Green College in 1942. She married Lavern Kowalk in 1946 and began her residence in DeWitt. During nearly fifty years living at 3500 and 3503 West Clark Road, she finessed the challenges of motherhood, living on a dairy farm, and teaching sixth-grade science at DeWitt Middle School. Her bright smile, witty sense of humor, and insatiable curiosity endeared her to family and many friends. Margaret was a member of Holy Cross Church of Lansing and of the Secular Franciscan of the Third Order in the Spirit of St. Francis. She loved helping others and volunteered extensively during her golden years for the American Cancer Society, Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Florida, and Sparrow Hospital. During her lifetime, she was a member of the Michigan Education Association, Moose Lodge #1285 of DeWitt, the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel, and AARP.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of forty years, Lavern Kowalk, her younger sisters, Ruth Moore, Virginia Wilson, and Betty McGovern, and son-in-law, Herman Reyes. She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Reyes, Peggy Robbins, Barbara Kowalk, and Morris Kowalk; her grandchildren, Melissa, Arthur, Ryan, and Aaron; her five great-grandchildren; and special family friend, Bill Pierce.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church with A memorial Mass being held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, at Holy Cross Church, 1611 W. Oakland, with Fr. Maurice Hayes presiding. Burial will be at Hurd Cemetery in DeWitt Township. After the burial, a funeral luncheon will be given at Holy Cross. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Margaret may be made to Holy Cross Church friends of St. Anthony, American Cancer Society, or Hospice House of Mid-Michigan.
