Lyle K. Steffen Lyle K. Steffen died September 12, 2006
at the age of 89. Born in Elkhart, Indiana on March 22, 1917, the son of Walter and Dora
(Schinn) Steffen. He was a farmer and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Lyle married
Christine (Mazur) Lee in St. Johns on November 22, 1978 and she preceded him in death on
July 15, 1994. Rita Mary Schneider Pewamo, MI. Age 82, passed away September 10, 2006 at her residence. She was born on October 10, 1923 in Clinton Co. the daughter of Peter and Mary (Kramer) Goodman. Mrs. Schneider was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pewamo and the Altar Society. She enjoyed being at home raising her family. She loved crocheting, quilting, and knitting but especially loved children. Rita is preceded in death by her husband, Clemens; son, Lee and an infant son, Clemens. Surviving are her children Linda (Jerry) Huhn of Portland, LaVern "Butch" (Joan) Schneider of St. Johns, Roger (Special Friend, Sue Fedewa) of Pewamo, Sandy Thelen of Pewamo, Kathy (Gary) Gay of Davison, and Jerome (Mary Jane) Schneider of Pewamo; daughter-in-law, Sharon Schneider of Pewamo; 24 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sister, Esther Kramer of Pewamo; sister-in-law, Helen Goodman of Westphalia; long time friend, Edys "Susie" Herling of Pewamo. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Charlon O. Mason, Pastor at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pewamo. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Monday and Tuesday at the St. Mary's Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia St., Westphalia. The rosaries will be prayed at 3 and 8 p.m., Monday and 3 p.m., Tuesday. A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 8 p.m., Tuesday. For those wishing, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Children's Miracle Network in memory of Mrs. Schneider. Arrangements are entrusted to Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home Portland. Robert W. Kissane died Saturday, September 9, 2006 at the age of 75. He was born March 25, 1931 in St. Johns the son of Byron and Mary (Motz) Kissane and lived all his life in the St. Johns area. Bob was a 1949 graduate of Rodney B. Wilson High School in St. Johns, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, was a former 4-H leader, was a member of the Farm Bureau, served on the Bingham Township Board, was a founding member of the Clinton Area Ambulance and enjoyed hunting and traveling around the United States. He was a farmer and retired in 1995. Bob married Marilyn Boron on May 10, 1952 and she survives him. Also surviving are four daughters, Christine (Blaine) Stevens, Pauline (Tim) Brussel, Jenny (Kris) Fleischer all of St. Johns, Rita (Jerry) Mudget of Monroe,MI; one son, Jim (Kelly) Kissane of St. Johns; twelve grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Marjorie (Andy) Minarik of Elsie, Rosemary (Fred) Eldridge of Grand Forks, ND; one brother, Bill (Judy) Kissane of St. Johns and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Francis. The Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 109 Linden, St. Johns with Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy as Celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Monday and 2-4 and 6-8 pm Tuesday with a vigil service at 7:00 pm Tuesday at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns, 989-224-4422. Memorials may be made to Clinton County 4-H. Richard S. Ladisky age 66 of St. Johns, Michigan died Sunday, September 10, 2006 at his home. Funeral services will be held at Duplain Church of Christ, St. Johns, Michigan on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be on Monday 6-8 P.M. and Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel. Pastor Don Ruff will officiate and burial will take place at the Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns, Michigan. Richard was born July 12, 1940 in Saginaw, Michigan the son of Joseph John and Emma ( Deaner ) Ladisky. He attended St. Joseph Catholic School in St. Johns, Michigan, and resided most of his life in St. Johns, Michigan. On August 24, 1967 he married Sherry Ann Sanders in Lansing, Michigan. He was employed with Saylor Beal Manufacturing in St. Johns, Michigan retiring in 2003. He enjoyed camping and the outdoors. In the past, he was a bowler and he was also the Iron Chef of the grill on cookouts and was a member of Duplain Church of Christ, St. Johns, Michigan. Survivors include his wife, Sherry Ann Ladisky of St. Johns, Michigan, 4 children, Lynn Pyle and Dave Allen of Ithaca, Michigan, Robin and Randy Doyen of St. Johns, Michigan, Margaret and Gary Simpson of St. Johns, Michigan, Joseph John Ladisky of St. Johns, Michigan, 8 grandchildren, David, Jessica, Jamie, Evan, Steven, Nathann and Erynne, Erica, Bill, one sister of Joanne Ladisky of Alma, Michigan, 1 brother, Dale and Sue Ladisky of Elsie, Michigan. He was predeceased in death by his parents, son William Bearndt, infant son Timothy, 1 sister, Barbara Teets. (Wieber) Blizzard died September 9, 2006 at the age of 73. Born in St. Johns on March 26,
1933, the daughter of Kenneth and Mable (Feazel) Hammond. She was a member of St. Joseph
Catholic Church and volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul. Charline married Lloyd Wieber in
St. Johns in September 1953 and he preceded her in death on April 24, 1972. She then
married Kenneth Blizzard in St. Johns in August 1974 and he preceded her in death in
November 1984. Illana Pendell Laingsburg, MI Illana Pendell, age 57, died Friday, September 8, 2006 at her home after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family. Illana was born in Lansing on October 23, 1948 to Victor and Betty (Freeman) Johnson. She was a 1966 graduate of Fulton High School and on August 1, 1969 she married Ben Pendell in Middleton, Michigan. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in St. Johns and worked for the State of Michigan. Illana is survived by her husband Ben; three children, Stacy Oliva of Laingsburg, Jamie (Bennett) Johnston of Sausalito, CA and Cami Pendell of Grand Ledge; and three grandchildren, Michael and Joshua Oliva and Samuel Johnston. She is also survived by two brothers, Rodney (Edith) Johnson of Nebraska and Bill Johnson of Lake Station, MI. Funeral Services will be on Monday at 1:00 p.m. September 11, 2006 at the Watkins Brothers Funeral Home in Laingsburg with the Reverend Marjery Schleicher officiating. Visitation will be on Monday, one hour before service time. Burial will take place in the Reed Cemetery. Memorial may be given to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Bina Marie Oberlin age 84 of Bannister, Michigan went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 7, 2006 at Covenant Healthcare Saginaw, MI after a brief illness.
