Irene B. McClintock Irene B. McClintock died September 20, 2006 at the age of 86. Born
June 30, 1920 in Isabella County, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Van
A. McClintock, on April 16, 1999. Arnold Edward Nurenberg Westphalia, MI Age 98, passed away on September 18, 2006 at the Ionia Area Hospital. Arnold was born November 20, 1907 in Ionia County, Pewamo, MI, the son of Joseph and Catherine (Simon) Nurenberg. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the St. Joseph Society. He farmed all his life until retirement. He played second base for the Maple Corners Sodbusters and Westphalia Independent baseball teams. He was an avid N.Y. Yankees fan. On June 8, 1932 he married Dorothy Spitzley at St. Mary's Church. She passed away on December 25, 2000. He is survived by 2 sons, Jerry (Jan) and LeRoy (Carol) of Westphalia; 5 daughters, Germaine (Joe) Pohl, Katie (Ted) Good of Ludington, Joan (Phil) Simon of Fowler, Genie (Paul) Pung of St. Johns and Arlene (Robert "Jim") Thelen of Portland; 37 grandchildren; 82 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving Arnold are 2 sisters-in-law, Estelle Schafer and Katherine Spitzley; brother-in-law, Richard Spitzley; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Arnold was predeceased by his parents; wife, Dorothy; 3 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; sons-in-law, Jerome Pung and Jerome Theis; 3 brothers, Oscar, Alfred and Harold Nurenberg; and 5 sisters, Mathilda Thelen, Laurine Schueller, Esther Thelen and 2 infants. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Mgsr. Sylvester Fedewa at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2006 at St. Mary's Church in Westphalia. The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday at the St. Mary's Funeral Chapel, 210 Westphalia St. The Rosary will be prayed 8 p.m. Wednesday and 3 p.m. Thursday. A Scripture Vigil Service will be prayed at 8 p.m. Thursday. The family is being served by Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home. James W. Gleason age 58 of St. Johns, Michigan died Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at his home. Funeral services will be held at the Church of the Nazarene, in St. Johns, Michigan on Saturday, September 23, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be on Thursday evening from 6-8 P.M. and Friday 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel. Pastor Tim Cockroft will officiate and burial will take place in the South Bingham Township Cemetery, St. Johns, Michigan. James was born in Lansing, Michigan on February 7, 1048 the son of Richard Brown and Georgia Irene ( King ) Gleason Sr. He married Sandra Kay Shawa in Lansing, Michigan on October 14, 1967, Sandra died December 13, 2005. Jim worked as a machinist for The Dana Corporation in St. Johns, Michigan, he attended the Church of the Nazarene in St. Johns, Michigan. He resided most of his life in the Lansing area, moving to St. Johns 10 years ago. Jim enjoyed working on computers, hunting and fishing and being around people and family. Survivors include his 4 children, James P. and Roxanne Gleason of St. Johns, Michigan, Kathy and Doug Fladseth of St Johns, Michigan, Norma and Robert Swanson of Fowler, Michigan, Jennifer and Matt Brown of Fowler, Michigan, 6 grandchildren, Scott, Bryan, Kristin, Rachel, Trisha and Kaitlyn, 5 sisters, Georgia Beck of East Lansing, Michigan, Roxanna Brogdon of Lansing, Michigan, Ruth and Jim Young of Wisconsin, Sue and Jeff Ferrell of Belair, Michigan, Caroline Perry of Lansing, Michigan, 2 brothers Michael and Joyce Gleason of Afton, Michigan, Richard and Judy Gleason of St. Johns, Michigan, Other family Kari Brown and her son Damien, Kym and Doug Piggott and son Josh Canfield, Family of the heart Sue and Bradley Myers. He was predeceased by his parents, wife, one grandson, Connor, brother in laws, Dean Beck and Bill Brogdon and one niece Laura Beck. Memorials may be made to the Church of the Nazarene in St. Johns, Michigan. Cecil E. Roberts, 82 died Friday, Sept. 15, 2006. Cecil was born Sept. 4, 1924 in DeWitt, Mi the son of Marva J. and Margaret Robb Roberts. He served in the U. S. Army and received the Purple Heart during the Battle of The Bulge while in the 99th Infantry. After his discharge he was a milk hauler, them became a Master Plumber and owned and operated Cecil Roberts Plumbing in Lansing. He later worked for General Motors as a pipe fitter. On May 11, 1946 he married Vivian Seavolt in Lansing. Cecil enjoyed golfing and was active in the Evart V.F.W. #7979, many Evart, MI groups and was a member of the Plumbers and Pipe fitters Union #388 and General Motors Union #652. He survived by wife Vivian, sons Gary of Gun Lake, MI, Larry of Shelton, WA and Steven and Carole Roberts of Evart, 4 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Sister Audrey J. Harvey of Florida and Brother, Leo Byerl of Indiana. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers. The family will receive friends at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns, 989-224-4422 Sunday, 4-8 P.M. and Monday, 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Funeral services will be held at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Shawn Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Deepdale Cemetery, Lansing. Memorials may be made to the Heartland Hospice or Alzheimers Association. Florence E. Becher died September 14, 2006, at the age of
90. Born in Houghton Lake, Michigan on December 13, 1915, the daughter of Ennis and
Mildred (Woodhams) Abbott. She was a clerk at J.C. Penney, a member of First United
Methodist Church and Clinton County Senior Citizen Drop-In Center, lifetime member of
I.O.O.F. in St. Johns, and was a volunteer for Clinton Memorial Hospital. Florence married
Raymond R.G. Becher in St. Johns on June 6, 1936 and he preceded her in death on October
12, 2002. Rose L. Tarr, 94, formerly of St. Johns, retired St. Johns Junior High School employee, died Thursday September 14, 2006. Memorial services to be held at a later date. Arrangements
by Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Mary Jane McCullough age 64 of St. Johns, Michigan died Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan. Mary Jane was born in St. Johns, Michigan on March 10, 1942, the daughter of Walter Edward and Amy Wilma ( Barber ) Splane. She graduated from Rodney B. Wilson High School in St. Johns with the class of 1960 and resided most of her life in the St. Johns area. On January 31, 1964 she married Raymond Keith McCullough in Duplain Township, Michigan. She enjoyed gardening, her dogs and being on the farm. She took several dogs in from the human society and found them homes. Survivors include her husband, Raymond Keith McCullough of St. Johns, Michigan, one daughter, Elizabeth and David Butler of Laingsburg, Michigan, one son, Shaun Edward McCullough of St. Johns, Michigan, 2 grand daughters, Emily McCullough of St. Johns, Michigan and Natalie McCullough of St. Johns, Michigan, one brother, Robert Edward Splane of Grand Rapids, Michigan, several nephews also survive her. She was predeceased by her parents, and one sister, Betty Jo Hancock. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association in
