Hilma Bartlett Stelljes

stelljes_hilma.jpg (4793 bytes)Hilma Bartlett Stelljes passed away on September 25, 2006 at the age of 97. She was born January 16, 1909 near Ovid, Michigan to John Charles and Mable Sarah (Spencer) Bartlett.

She is survived by two sons, Robert (Caroline) of Jackson, and Richard (Bonnie) of East Lansing, three grandchildren, Mark, Eric and Kristen, five great grandchildren, Devin, Tyler, Haleigh, Preston and Cameron. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Kirk and David. Hilma graduated from Ferris State College and persued a career as a legal secretary, working at MSU, and the State of Michigan for the Auditor General and Attorney Generals offices, and, finally in the State Senate. She enjoyed her friends she volunteered with at ELOP, AARP, RSVP, and the Red Cross.

Cremation has taken place. A graveside service for the family will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery and will be held at a later date. The family is being served by the Osgood Funeral Homes.

Dean N. Sweet, Sr

Dean N. Sweet, Sr. Bath, MI Born June 26, 1915 in Bath, MI; died September 23, 2006 at the age of 91. Dean was a survivor of the Bath School Explosion. He was one of the original five firemen that started the Bath Township Volunteer Fire Department. He was a Cub Scout Master in Bath for many years and also a committee member of the Bath School Museum. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Geraldine E. (Schray) Sweet, they were married February 28, 1942; sons, Dean N. Sweet, Jr., Sam L. Sweet, and Richard "Dick" E. Sweet; 7 grandchildren, Barbara L. Sweet, Diane Pfiffer, Michelle Sweet, Audrey (Chris) Hunter, Christy Sweet, Richard (Audra) Sweet, Jr. and Wendy (Bill) Marrison; and 4 great-grandchildren, Jessica, Kallie, Makayla and Brianna.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Home, 605 E. Washington, DeWitt, MI with Pastor Bea Robinson officiating. The family will receive friends at the chapel one hour prior to the service time.
