Frederick Miller Frederick Miller Lansing, MI Age 82, died October 1, 2006 in Lansing. He was born in Fowler, the son of Fred and Edith (Feldpausch) Miller. Mr. Miller was a member of the Elks Lodge #196, Knights of Columbus #788, and belonged to the Society of Automotive Engineers for 50 years. Mr. Miller was also a charter member of St. Gerard Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathleen A. Miller in 1992. Surviving are his wife, Patricia A. Miller; son, Bruce (Val) Miller; daughters Ellen (Tom) Brandenburg, Diane (Steven) Phipps; stepchildren, Marsha (Tom) Frain, Michael Thomas; 8 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild; sisters Gertrude Schueller and Theresa (George) Fox; brothers Herman (Kathleen) Miller, James (Sandra) Miller, Edward (Evelyn) Miller. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at 11:00 AM at St. Gerard Catholic Church. Visitation will be at Tiffany Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 3, 2006 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. with a Rosary being prayed at 8:00 PM. and 10:00 AM to 11:00 at the church. Arrangements by Tiffany Funeral Home. Rose Isabel Thelen Fowler, MI March 1, 1905-October 1, 2006 Rose Isabel Thelen, age 101, of Fowler passed away October 1, 2006. She was the daughter of Frank and Louise (Feneis) Snyder. She was married to Arnold J. Thelen on January 7, 1928, who preceded her in death in 1992. Rose was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fowler, Daughters of Isabella, and the Christian Mothers Society. She also sang in the choir for many years. During her 101 years Rose was a homemaker and will always be remembered for her famous sugar cookies, which no one has been able to duplicate, her Christmas popcorn balls, and a unique and witty sense of humor. Special thanks to the caring staff of Hazel Findlay Country Manor in St. Johns where Rose was a resident over the last 6 years. Rose and Arnold had three children, Gladys Schueller, Elsie Zuker, both of St. Johns, and Max Thelen of Fowler, all of whom survive her. She is also survived by one brother, Edmund (Kay) Snyder of Livonia; grandchildren, Daniel Schueller, Kent Schueller, Ray Schueller, Jane Schueller, Nancy Zuker, Tom (Tamara) Zuker, Lee (Diane) Zuker, Kay (Russ) Held, and Lynne (Ken) Frechen; and eight great-grandchildren, Kari Schueller, Katie, Christopher, Michael, Alex, and Kyle Zuker, Dillon and Adam Frechen. She was preceded in death by sisters, Mathilda Smith and Regina Butt, and brother, William Snyder. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, burial at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery with the Rev. Fr. Maurice Hayes officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Goerge Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, 11112 W. Ionia, Fowler. A Rosary will be prayed 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. For information, Hanekamp Funeral Home (847) 272-3890. David Leon Curtis age 49 of St. Johns, Michigan died on Saturday, September 30, 2006 at his home. Memorial services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel on Saturday, October 7, 2006 at 3:30 P.M. Visitation will be on Saturday afternoon October 7, 2006 at 3:00 P.M. until the time of services. Pastor Walter McConkey will officiate and burial will take place in Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns, Michigan. David was born in Damariscotta, Maine on July 6, 1957 the son of Edwin H. and Kathryn ( Oliver ) Curtis and resided most of his life in Maine before moving to St. Johns, Michigan in 2000. He graduated from Lincoln Academy, New Castle, Maine. On June 24, 1974 he married Regina Crossman in Damariscotta, Maine. David had worked for the John Henry Printing Company in Lansing, Michigan and was the owner of Curtis Custom Engraving. He was a member of the BNI Business Group and Bangor Bass Club. Survivors include his wife, Regina Curtis of St. Johns, Michigan, 2 sons, Daniel and Andrea Curtis of Hermon, Maine, David and Pam Curtis of St. Johns, Michigan, 10 grandchildren, David III, Taran, Coltn, MacKenzie, Krista, Kassie, Katryna, Nathin, Alyssa, Clare, mother, Katheryn Emerson of Knoxville, Iowa 1 sister, Lindi Burk, 4 brothers, Wayne Curtis, Jimmy Emerson, Dwayne Curtis, Edwin Curtis, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Edwin Curtis, and step-father, Raymond Emerson. Memorial may be made to, Clinton Area Home Hospice. Dick G. Van Ells died September 28, 2006, at the age of 77. He was born in
Bengal Township on April 7, 1929, the son of Edgar and Eleanor (Fernholz) Van Ells. Dick
lived most of his life in the St. Johns and Fowler area, attended St. Johns Schools, and
was a farmer and heavy equipment operator, retiring in 1991. He was a member of Most Holy
Trinity Catholic Church, Operating Engineers Local 324, Fowler Conservation Club, American
Legion Post 0182-Hubbardston and Fowler High School Athletic Boosters. Dick married Rose
Schmitt at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church on May 1, 1954 and she survives him. Gaila Wanda (Wing) Stewart, age 85, of St. Johns, passed
away on Wednesday, September 27, 2006, at Clinton Memorial Hospital. She was born August
2, 1921 in Redlands, California, to Floyd and Lola (Burkett) Wing. On July 6, 1944 she
married Richard Stewart, who preceded her in death on April 17, 2006. Gaila was also
preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Lola Wing, a sister, Bernice Mead, a daughter,
Patricia Richmond, a son-in-law, Perry Patterson and a grandson, Todd Skurkis. |
