Eletha I. Schmitz Eletha I. Schmitz died
October 18, 2006, at the age of 69. Born in Clinton County, Michigan January 17, 1937, she
was the daughter of Peter and Catherine (Feldpausch) Schmitz. She was a graduate of Fowler
High School, a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and lived most of her life in
the Fowler area. She retired from the Chrysler Assembly Plant in 1987.
Surviving are her twin sister Eunice (Clare) Pung of Fowler, Stella (Tom) Kinney of East
Lansing, Freda Bauer of Portland, seven brothers, Stanley (Pat) and Peter (Marcia) both of
Lansing, Donald (Mary Lou) of Westphalia, Richard (Fay) and Maurice (Darlene) of Fowler,
Hilary (Marcia) and Justin (Sharon) of St. Johns, many nieces and nephews. She was
preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law Agnes and Tom Faivor and brother-in-law
Eddie Bauer.
A celebration of her new life will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, October 20, 2006 at Most Holy
Trinity Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Timothy E. MacDonald as celebrant. Arrangements by

Richard P. Crumbaugh
Richard P. Crumbaugh of Ashley,
Michigan passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2006 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan
surrounded by his family.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel on Thursday, October 19,
2006 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Jon Pohl will officiate with burial at North Star Cemetery,
North Star, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2006 and Wednesday,
October 18, 2006 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.
Richard was born February 6, 1933 in Bethany Township, Gratiot County, Michigan, the son
of Harold and Margaret ( Wolfgang ) Crumbaugh. He graduated from Ashley High School with
the class of 1951 and attended Michigan State University and several Sales Training
Seminars. He was married to Marilyn Stine on October 19, 1952 at the Edgewood Church of
God. Richard spent two years as a Medic in the U.S. Army, 10th Infantry Division. After
his discharge from the service, he bought a farm near Ashley where he remained until his
death. He retired from Farm Bureau Services in Lansing as District Sales Manager. After
retirement he worked for Rural Community Insurance Services as a Claims Adjuster. Richard
was a 4-H Leader, served on the Board of Education, Ashley Community Schools from
1979-1983, past member of the Ashley Lions Club, and Alma Elks Club. He enjoyed
woodworking and playing cards with the boys. He also loved being a spectator
at his grandchildrens sport activities. Dick and Marilyn traveled six hours in the
fall and winter to watch their grandson play football and basketball in Ohio.
Richard is survived by his wife, Marilyn, 2 sons; Chris of Perrysburg, OH, Lynn and Diane
of Merrill, daughter Lori and Patrick Harmon of Oakley, 6 grandchildren; Ryan, Carrie,
Kayla, and Ross Crumbaugh, Lindsay and Troy Harmon, brothers: Delbert and Donna June
Crumbaugh of Ashley, Jerry and Fern Crumbaugh of Foxfire Village, North Carolina, and
sister Sue and Dennis Boyle of Derwood, Maryland.
Memorials may be made to Ashley United Methodist Church. The family is being served by

age 55 of Elsie, Michigan died Friday, October 13, 2006 at her home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Cyril's
Catholic Church Bannister, MI on October 17, 2006 at 10:00 AM. Rev. Fr. Wolfgang
Streichardt will officiate with burial at Ford Cemetery Elsie, Michigan. Visitation will
be held on Sunday, October 15, 2006 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. and Monday, October 16, 2006
from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M., Rosary will be prayed on Monday, October 16, 2006 at 6:00 P.M.
Mary was born in St. Johns, MI on April 2, 1951 the daughter of Steve and Josephine (
Luznak ) Slamka. She resided most of her life in St. Johns and Elsie areas, attended
Ovid-Elsie Schools and graduated from Ovid-Elsie High School and then from Alma Practical
Nursing School. Mary married John Madden on May 3, 1975 in Bannister, Michigan. She worked
as a Para Pro at OE Middle School and the High School, and she worked as Home Health Care
through Owosso Memorial. Mary was a member of St. Cyril's Catholic Church, St. Cyril's
Altar Society, Lioness, as well as a Religious Ed. Teacher, Eucharist Minister, and worked
for the Ambulance Service in Elsie.
She is survived by her husband John Madden of Elsie, MI, son Mark Madden of Elsie, MI,
daughter Michelle and Chancey Kamp of Elsie, MI, brother: Steve and Patty Slamka of
Owosso, MI, sister: Joanne and Ron Evans of Ashley, MI, several nieces and nephews and her
dog: Coco. She is predeceased by her parents.

Norma M. Witt
Norma M. Witt died October 10,
2006 at the age of 77. She was born September 9, 1929 in Pontiac, Michigan the daughter of
Theodore and Florence (Hallett) Resner. Norma graduated from Ovid High School in 1947 and
married Henry A. Witt in Lansing on October 2, 1948, he preceded her in death on November
23, 1999.
She is survived by three daughters, Linda (John) Johnson of
Ovid, Marilyn Witt of Lyons, Dawn (Ty) Dodge of Ovid, one son, David Witt of Ovid, sixteen
grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, brother, Norman Resner, sisters, Jeanette
Matson and Marion Strunk. Also surviving Norma is her special friend, Ray Soles. She was
preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter, Penny Patrick and brother,
Ted Lambert.
Funeral services will be held at Houghton Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, 232 E. Oak
St., Ovid with Pastor Bob McGee officiating, burial at Maple Grove Cemetery. The family
will receive friends at the funeral home, 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm Thursday, October 12.
Sympathy may be expressed in the form of contributions to a charity of the family's
choice.
LeRoy Harland Wilcox
LeRoy Harland Wilcox, age 64,
of Traverse City, formerly of Elk Rapids and St. Cloud, Fla., died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006,
with his loving wife and family by his side, in the comfort of the Munson Hospice House.
He was born on Dec. 26, 1941, in Carson City, he was the son of the late Harland A. and
Muriel E. (Barnhill) Wilcox, and was a graduate of Elsie High School. On Oct. 29, 1960, he
married the former Helen Fatura, in Bannister.
LeRoy owned and operated Wilcox Trucking for over 20 years. He was a certified Master
Mechanic for heavy duty equipment. Later, he was employed and retired in 1996 by Munson
Medical Center, where he worked as a truck driver for the Radiology Department/Mobile CT
Scan and other portable units. After moving to St. Cloud, Fla., LeRoy worked as a Solid
Waste truck driver for Walt Disney World, retiring on Sept. 8, 2006. Throughout his life,
he enjoyed sharing his time and talents with others, through his memberships in the
Knights of Columbus, Rotary of Elk Rapids, Traverse City Elk's Club and Jaycees. He
enjoyed traveling, fishing and riding his motorcycle, but most of all he cherished the
time he spent with his family. He was a true dedicated family man.
LeRoy is survived by: his loving wife, Helen of Traverse City; children, Lisa (Ronald)
Zimmerman of Traverse City, Gregory (Valerie) Wilcox of Westfield, Mass., Dana Bosak of
Orlando, Fla. and Eric (Michelle) Wilcox of Williamsburg, Mich.; mother, Muriel E. Wilcox
of Alma, Mich,; sister, Carolyn (Douglas) Davis of Elwell, Mich.; grandchildren, Cory
Dunham, Candice (Sean) Silver, Casey Dunham, Colt Dunham, Brian Wilcox, Shawn Wilcox,
Nicholas Bosak, Alexander Bosak, Jessica Bosak, Deric Wilcox, Collin Wilcox, Beau Wilcox
and Ambrose Wilcox; and one great grandchild, Calie Dunham. He was preceded in death by
his father, Harland A. Wilcox.
A Memorial Mass will be offered on Friday, Oct. 13, 2006 at Immaculate Conception Catholic
Church, Traverse City, Mich., at 11:00 a.m. Rev. James Hayden will serve as the celebrant.
An additional Memorial Mass will take place on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, at 10:00 a.m., at
St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alma, Mich. Fr. Kevin Maksym will serve as the celebrant.
Committal services will follow at New Haven Township Cemetery, Buchanan Road, Sumner,
Mich.
Friends may call at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff
Funeral Home, 306 Sixth Street, Traverse City, Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m., where a
Celebration of Life and Scripture Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers,
