Oneta I. Brauher

brauher_oneta.jpg (5486 bytes)Oneta I. Brauher died October 30, 2006, at the age of 88. Born in Ithaca, MI on July 6, 1918, the daughter of Byron and Gertrude (Shivers) Brauher. She taught elementary education for 31 years, was active in the First Church of the Nazarene in Owosso, enjoyed sewing and making her own clothes, working in the yard and many family activities.

Surviving are her ten nieces and nephews, Irma Jean (Maynard) Decker of Odessa, TX, Nancy Ruth (David) Hulliberger of Vicksburg, MI, Ray (Donna) Thomas of Lubbock, TX, Grace (Jim) Loynes of Isle Palm, SC, Leona (John) Crady of Republic, MI, Alma (Rich) Conklin of Breckenridge, Leroy Thomas of St. Johns, Janice Valad of Clarksville, Jill (Bob) Hulsing of Clarksville and Carolyn Count of Clarksville, many great, great great, and great great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Velmont and sister, Opal Thomas.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 3, 2006 at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1865 S. M-52, Owosso, burial at Maple Grove Cemetery with Pastor Dick Forsythe officiating. The family will receive friends 3-7 P.M. Thursday at the Houghton Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, 232 E. Oak St., Ovid. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorials to the First Church of the Nazarene, Owosso.

Funeral services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be Monday from 6-8PM and on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Burial will take place at Middlebury Township Cemetery in Middlebury Township, Michigan.

Tina was born on June 10, 1959 in St. Johns, Michigan the daughter of Charles and Sharon (Baker) Hoover. She graduated from St. Johns High School with the class of 1986 and resided most of her life in St. Johns and Ovid. Tina married Jeffrey L. Potter at Grove Bible Church on April 10, 1976. She was currently engaged to John Tribfelner. She was a homemaker, and also was self-employed cleaning houses. She loved kids, cooking, collecting knick-knacks, flower gardening, and window shopping. She was also an avid reader.

Survivors include her Fiancé, John Tribfelner of Ovid, Michigan, her first husband, Jeffrey Potter of Ovid, Michigan, 5 children, Zachary Potter of Dewitt, Michigan, Joshua Potter of Lansing, Michigan, Salita and Michael Carie of Dewitt, Michigan, Nathaniel Potter of Ovid, Michigan, Lucas Potter of Ovid, Michigan, 2 grandchildren, Sky and Mya, her mother, Sharon Hoover of Dewitt, Michigan, brother, Allen and Beth Hoover of St. Johns, Michigan, sister, Rita Hoover of St. Johns, Michigan, father in law William J. Potter of Owosso, Michigan, several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

She was predeceased by her father Charles Hoover, mother in law Lillian Potter, and grandparents. Memorials can be made to Breast Cancer Fund. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns chapel.

Alfred "Al" L. Ornelas

ornelas_alfred.jpg (4168 bytes)Alfred "Al" L. Ornelas died October 28, 2006, at the age of 75. He was born in St. Louis, Michigan on May 2, 1931, the son of Edward and Maria (Luna) Ornelas. He was a 1951 graduate of Ovid High School, a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a Fisher Body retiree.

Al is survived by his four sisters, Anita Kiter, Rosemary Ornelas, Emma Gordoa, and Josephine Sheldon, his two brothers, Eliseo Ornelas and Oscar (Dorothy) Ornelas, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Mary Helen Martinez, and his brother, Eddie Ornelas.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, November 2, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Ovid, with burial at Maple Grove Cemetery with Pastor Bob Metevia officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Tuesday and Wednesday at the Houghton Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, 232 E. Oak St., Ovid, MI. Military graveside services provided by Elsie American Legion Post #502. Sympathy may be expressed in the for m of memorials to the First Baptist Church of Ovid.

Wanda M. Dietrich

dietrich_wanda.jpg (4761 bytes)Wanda M. Dietrich, 84 died Friday, Oct. 27, 2006 at Hazel Findlay Country Manor. Wanda was born on January 25, 1922 in Yale MI the daughter of Charles and Anna M.(Warner) Apsey. She graduated from Perry High School and lived most of her life in Ovid and St. Johns. On Oct. 11, 1940 she married Donald A. Dietrich in Nashville, MI. He preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 1999.Wanda was a member of the Shepardsville Methodist Church, had been active in the Clinton County Senior Center, the Tri-County Office on Aging and the Jesse School Mother Club.

She is survived by son Duane (Nancy) Dietrich of Holt; daughters, Diana (Gary) Munson of Elsie, Susan (Steve) Leonard of Lake Odessa and
Ann (Stephen) Wilson of St. Johns; two brothers, Robert Apsey of Owosso and Charles Apsey Jr. of Arkansas; 11 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by parents; brothers, Leslie and Max, sisters Bernice and Margrite Apsey, daughter Marie Dietrich and Grandson Joseph Leonard.

Funeral services will be held at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, 989-224-4422 on Monday, October 30, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Audie Clairmont officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Owosso. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, 2-8 P.M. Memorials may be made to St. Johns Senior Center.

Martha E. Fedewa

Fedewa, 77, was finally released from the agonizing grip of Alzheimer’s disease as she found peace in the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on October 26, 2006. Martha was born on October 4,1929 to Edward Schafer and Laura (Goerge) Schafer of Fowler. Marty was preceded in death by her adoring and devoted husband of 52 years, Stephen Fedewa. Their love for each other was truly a gift from God and they never took that gift for granted. Marty rarely was seen without Steve by her side walking hand in hand. Her health declined rapidly after Steve’s passing on October 3, 2002. Marty was a sweet and gentle woman who truly appreciated all of the simple things in life. She loved everything nature had to offer and she never found a piece of earth on which she didn’t want to plant a tree, bush or flower. Marty was blessed with a beautiful voice and shared her love of singing with her children and grandchildren. Marty was a homemaker and worked alongside her husband on their poultry farm for many years and later, on home restoration.

Surviving are her children, Daniel Fedewa of LaMarque, Texas, Debra (Richard) Rehmann, Linda (Robert) Shannon, Cheryl (Gerry) Arens, all of Fowler, and Colleen (Terry) Organek of Grand Ledge; grandchildren, Michael, Jeffrey (Cheryl), Kenneth (Kathryn), Jennifer, Brian (Becky) Rehmann, Steven and Thomas Shannon, Kelly, Dawn and Craig Arens, Jason and Kimberly Organek; great grandchildren, McKenzie and Soenya Baczkiewicz Organek, Nathan John Paul Rehmann; brothers, Michael (Irene), Edward, John and Jerome (Connie) Schafer; sisters, Agnes Schafer and Therese (Leon) Stump; brothers-in-law, Phil Hauck and Larry Blauwiekel; and sisters-in-law, Rose Fedewa and Adeline Bertram. She was preceded in death by sisters, Elizabeth (Clayton) Kramer, Rita (Bernard) Walker; brothers-in-law, Delbert Schafer, Joseph “Joey” Schafer, Ervin Fedewa and James Bertram; and sisters-in-law, Lillian Hauck and Julianne Blauwiekel.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 A.M. Monday, October 30, 2006 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fowler, MI, burial at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Timothy E. MacDonald officiating. The family will receive friends 6-8 P.M. Saturday, 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Sunday at the Goerge Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, Fowler, with a rosary prayed 7 P.M. Saturday and 3 P.M. Sunday and a vigil service 7 P.M. Sunday. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorials to Most Holy Trinity School, Most Holy Trinity Educational Trust Fund or a charity of the family’s choice.

Julius P. Wirth

wirth_julius.jpg (4688 bytes)Julius P. Wirth Lansing, MI Age 93, a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2006. He was born in Riley, Michigan on October 30, 1912, the son of Clara (Wieber) and Arthur Wirth. He was a devoted and dedicated husband to his wife of 60 years, Josephine, who preceded him in death on July 14, 1997. Julius was employed by Fisher Body, Division of General Motors for 38 years; he retired in 1972. He was a lifelong member of The Saint Joseph's Society and a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time at Morrison Lake with family and friends; he was always ready for a great game of cards.

He is survived by his two sons, Kenneth (Karen) of Portland and Keith of Brooklyn; 4 grandchildren, Kevin, Kurt (Jan), Kelly (John) Jancek and Kathy (Mike) Teachout; 8 great-grandchildren, Bradley, Zachary, Lyndsi, Brock, Julia, Jack, Brian and Brady; 2 brothers, Anthony and Charles; 2 sisters, Agnes and Rosalyn; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Church with the Rev. Fr. Maurice Hayes as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6-8 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Palmer, Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Delta Chapel, 6020 W. Saginaw Hwy. and Monday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. A Rosary will be prayed Saturday and Sunday at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to Holy Cross Church or Portland St. Pat's Father Flohe Foundation in memory of Julius P. Wirth.

Barbara Kurivial

Barbara Kurivial age 83 of Elsie, Michigan died Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at her home.

Barbara was born in Middlebury Township, Michigan on November 28, 1922 the daughter of Frank and Genevive Nechal. She resided most of her life in Elsie, Michigan. Barbara married Charles J. Kurivial on June 24, 1950 at St. Jospeh Catholic Church in Owosso, MI. He died on June 27, 2002. Barbara was a homemaker. She enjoyed traveling, fishing and her animals.

She is survived by 2 sons; James C. Kurivial of Elsie, MI, and Joseph F. Kurivial of Elsie, MI, brother John Nechal, and nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, husband, 1 sister and 1 brother.

There will be no visitation or services. Memorials may be made to the Shiawasse County Humane Society. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes.
