Bernita "Billie" Cunningham

Bernita "Billie" Cunningham,age 80, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2006 at her home. Billie was born September 5, 1926 in Hubbardston to Edward and Georgia (Gilleo) Herald. She married Albert Cunningham on May 29, 1948 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Hubbardston. Billie was very active in her community and loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by 7 children, Rick (Barbara) Cunningham of Grand Ledge, Mike Cunningham of Titusville, FL, Tim (Marsha) Cunningham of Portland, Julie Cunningham of Charlotte, NC, Denny Cunningham of Portland, Bill (Barbara Blanchard) Cunningham of Hubbardston, Lori (Randy Riley) Cunningham of East Lansing; 10 grandchildren; also one sister, Betty (Dave) Colorado of Arizona. Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Albert and 7 brothers and sisters.

A Funeral Mass will take place Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at 3:30 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Church in Hubbardston. Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday from 7-9 p.m., Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. at the Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home in Carson City and from 2:30 p.m. until time of service Tuesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the new Hubbardston Community Center or the Hubbardston Historical Society.

Graveside Memorial Services will be held at Ford Cemetery, Gratiot County, Michigan on Friday, December 8, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. Mr. Stanley Jelinek will officiate.

Jimmy was born in St. Johns, Michigan on July 24, 1948 the son of John and Sylvia (Scarbrough) Jelinek. He resided in Bannister, Michigan before moving to Florida 30 years ago. He was a construction carpenter. He enjoyed his work, and fishing.

He is survived by special friend Michelle Bidwell of Idaho, 4 sons; Christopher, Derek, Zachary, and Jesse, 2 sisters Judy Minarik of St. Johns, Michigan, Joan and John Halteman of Bannister, MI, and 1 brother John and Joy Jelinek of Elsie, Michigan. He was predeceased by his parents. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.

Leland H. Krauss, Sr.

Leland H. Krauss, Sr. passed away on November 25, 2006, at Clinton Memorial Hospital in St. Johns, MI. He was born on October 31, 1919, in Otsego County, MI, to Harley McClellan Krauss and Ellen Aldena (Koske) Krauss. Lee, as he was known to most everyone, worked at General Motors Fisher Body Division for over 35 years and was a Shift Superintendent, retiring in 1974. He served his country in WWII in the Army Infantry, Co. C-206 Bn from December 8, 1941 and was discharged on October 31, 1945. He was a member of the VFW Fowler-Pewamo-Westphalia Post #3733. While living in Florida, he was associated with the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, 7th District, Hernando Beach Flotilla 8 and went out in the Gulf of Mexico on many Sars- helping many boats and people in distress back to safety.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; 1 sister, Beverly Baumgras; 2 sons, James Krauss of Dimondale and Leland Harley Krauss, Jr. (Linda) of Olivet; 2 granddaughters, Karla (Denny) Pulver and Stacy Krauss; 1 grandson, David (Marcia) Krauss; 3 stepdaughters, Marilyn Moss, Barbara Marchello and Judith Kirksey; 5 step-grandchildren, Vic Konz, Cam (Patti) Keim, Troy (Zsuzan) Keim, Leslie (Fred) Schudlich and Kerre Cloyes. He is survived by 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by one grandson. He is also survived by a very special family, Lyle and Janice Auten and their children, Janell (Bob) Barber, sons, Robert (Alisha) Barber and Justin Barber (God Child), Lynda (Kevin) Kissane, Kris (James) Teelander and their daughter, Brittany.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fowler, MI. A short memorial service will be held at Deepdale Cemetery on December 16, 2006 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Paul Clark officiating. Those desiring may make contributions to the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fowler in memory of Lee.
