Roger N. Jorae Roger N. Jorae died February 26, 2007 at the age of 80. He was born on January 23, 1927, the son of Ira N. and Agatha M. (Kesby) Jorae in Shepardsville, Michigan and lived most of his life in St. Johns. He served in the Navy on the USS Hornet during WWII. He retired from the Army after twenty years and then worked as a custodian at the Post Office for twenty years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a life member and Past Post Commander of both American Legion Post #153 and V.F.W Post #4113, an active member of the 82nd Airborne Association, D.A.V., 40&8 and the Cooties where he was a volunteer at the Battle Creek Veterans Hospital. On November 9, 1957 he married Lillian M. Hawke in El Paso, Texas and she survives him. Also surviving are his two daughters Pamela (Mark) Johnston of Muskegon and Laurie (Kim) Kidder of Maple Rapids, his two sons Kenneth Jorae of Lansing and David Jorae of St. Johns, three grandchildren Zachery Jorae, Steven and Keith Kidder, his sister Betty Mankey, his brother Bernard (Joan) Jorae and his pet, Lucy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Ed Mankey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 3, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with the Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy officiating. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday, and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday with a vigil service at 7 p.m. at the Osgood Funeral Home, 104 E. Cass St., St. Johns. Sympathies may be expressed in the form of contributions to Sparrow Hospice or the Clinton County Veterans Memorial. Military graveside services provided by St. Johns Honor Guard. Pauline K. Michigan died Sunday, February 25, 2007 at Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor St. Johns, MI. Gail Ann (Thelen) Simmons, 47, of Las Vegas, formerly of St. Johns, died Feb. 13. Services have been held. Arrangements by Desert Memorial Crematory, Las Vegas. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Molly Margaret Sapp passed away Thursday, February 22, 2007 peacefully with Melody Racine, her lifelong partner and soul mate, and dear friends at her bedside. Molly was born in St. Johns on December 19, 1946 to Joe and Lois Pat Sapp. She graduated from Rodney B. Wilson High School with the class of 1965. Mollys indefatigable spirit was present to the end, as she sought to experience death in the same way as she approached her lifewith unflinching honesty; irascible humor; and a grace and dignity which endeared her to so many. A memorial service is planned for Thursday, March 8, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Genesis of
Ann Arbor located at St.Clare of Assisi Episcopal Church, 2309 Packard Road, Ann Arbor,
Michigan. There will be a gathering afterward in the social hall. Samuel Scott Geer died Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at the age of 21. He was born February 28, 1985 in St. Johns the son of Bill and Brenda (VanVleet) Geer and was a student at Alma College. Sam was a 2003 graduate of St. Johns High School, a Boy Scout, was a member of the National Honor Society and a manager for the St. Johns High School Wrestling Team. He also was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, an avid fisherman, a companion at Camp Quality Michigan in Boyne City, and enjoyed working on and collecting antique tractors with his father. Surviving are his parents, Bill and Brenda Geer and his sister, Erika all of St. Johns; grandparents, Bruce and Barbara VanVleet of St. Johns, Tom and Carol Geer of Ovid; great grandmother, Arleta VanVleet of St. Johns and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by a grandmother Donna Geer and a special friend Donna Flanner. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns 989-224-4422 with Pastor George Brinley officiating.
