Norman L. Fitzpatrick Norman L. Fitzpatrick age 69, passed away on March 13, 2007. Born June 14, 1937,
in St. John's, Michigan. He was a Retired Produce Director from D&W Food Centers in
Grand Rapids, and longtime member of the Rockford United Methodist Church. Norman was an
avid outdoorsman, and he especially enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Diane; and
their three wonderful children, Norman Jr. "Bud" (Amanda), Joy Lynn(Paul)
Schaefer, and Julie (Rodney) Toor. He was the proud and devoted grandfather of Dane
Fitzpatrick, Daniel Schaefer, Elizabeth Schaefer, Thomas Shepherd, David Fitzpatrick,
Sarah Schaefer, Maxmilian Toor, Emily Fitzpatrick, Rowan Toor, and Iain Fitzpatrick. Dear
son of Helen Fitzpatrick. Brother of Shirley (Henry) Attwell, Bruce (Norma), Stuart
(Sharon), and David (Sally). He was preceded in death by father, Glendon, and by brother,
Roger.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 31, 2007,
at 11am from the Rockford United Methodist Church, 159 East Maple Street, Rockford, MI.

Nida Dunham, a local
artist, age 89 of Elsie, Michigan died Monday, March 26, 2007 at Hazel I. Findlay Country
Manor St. Johns, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel Elsie, MI on
Thursday, March 29, 2007 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Justin Shepard will officiate with burial at
Riverside Cemetery Elsie, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2007
from 6-8 P.M. and Wednesday, March 28, 2007 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 and 6-8
P.M.
Nida was born in Elsie, Michigan, Duplain Township on June 29, 1917 the daughter of Edward
M. and Viola ( Jeffrey ) Bensinger. She resided most of her life in the Elsie area and
graduated from Elsie High School with the class of 1934. Nida married Earl L. Dunham on
February 3, 1937 in Goshen, Indiana. He died in January 1966. Nida taught oil, china, and
charcoal painting to local Central Michigan communities. She was a very talented pianist
and orgainist. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Nida was a member and
organinst at Duplain Church of Christ and most recently was a member and organist at
Eureka Christian Church. She was also a member of the China Painter's Association.
She is survived by daughter Betty and Galen Bashore of Elsie, MI, grandchildren; Bruce and
Barbara Bashore of FL, Gary and Beverly Bashore of Hastings, MI, Diana and Jerry Guyski of
Owosso, MI, Debra and Randy Hunt of Elsie, MI, great grandchildren; Daisy and Wesley
Schafer, Betsy and Chris McCall, Tracy Bashore, Clint Bashore, Tom and Stephanie Bashore,
Kathryn and Jason Fries, Jenae and Gary VanEffen, Daniel and Becky Guyski, Mathew and Tina
Byrnes, Hillary and Nicholas Fabus, 13 great great granchildren and several nieces and
nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, husband, 4 brothers, Durward, Lonel, Leo and
Marshall Bensinger, Wilma Grubaugh.

Anna (Carr) Ponder
Anna (Carr) Ponder of Ovid,
died Monday, March 26, 2007 at the age of 79. She was born May 19, 1927 in Westphalia
Township, Clinton County, MI the daughter of John and Mary Rose (Aldredge) Leik. Anna was
a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and was a retired cook at Ovid Health Care Center.
Surviving are her children, Phyllis McRae of AZ, Cathy
Daily of Cadillac, Phillip Lonsbery of Springport, Doris Bargy of East Lansing, Ernest
(Jean) Carr of Elsie, Joan (Jim) Brown of Ovid, Mary (Randy) Smith of Houston, TX;
step-son, Henry (Marle) Carr of Lake Orion; 16 grandchildren; several great grandchildren
and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Thursday, March 29,
2007 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns 989-224-4422 with Rev. Fr.
Raymond Urbanek officiating. Private interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Ovid.
The family will receive relatives and friends 6 to 8 pm Wednesday with a Rosary prayed at
7:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Ovid Health Care Center

Tracey A. McGowan

Tracey A. McGowan died March 23, 2007, at the age of 44 as the
result of an auto accident. Born in Flint on February 18, 1963, the son of Donald and
Janet (Hose) McGowan. He was a truck driver.
Surviving is his mother, Janet (Thomas) Holden of St. Johns, children, Thomas McGowan,
Mike Burroughs and Cheryl (Geoff) Hackett, grandchild, Ashlyn Hackett, sisters, LeaAnne
(Eric) Jacobs, Ellen Hufnagel, Danielle (Chris) Hill, Lezlie Holden and Andrea (Chris)
Salisbury, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his soul mate, Roxanne
Husted, granddaughter, Miranda Hackett and brother, Don McGowan.
Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at the Osgood Funeral

Roxanne Husted
Roxanne Jean Husted died
March 23, 2007, at the age of 46. She was born in Carson City, Michigan on March 6, 1961,
the daughter of James and Sharon (Avery) Husted. Roxanne was an office manager at Barnard
Manufacturing. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, scrap
booking and bowling in her Royal Scot bowling league.
Roxanne is survived by her parents, daughter, Cheryl (Geoff) Hackett, son, Mike Burroughs,
all of Maple Rapids, grandchildren, Ashlyn Hackett of Maple Rapids and Elijah Burroughs of
Oakley. She is also survived by her sisters, Cheryl (Rich) Simpson of Jackson, Janet
Husted and Jamie (Todd Gill) Berry, all of Maple Rapids, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by fiancé, Tracey McGowan, precious granddaughter, Miranda Jean
Hackett and brother, James Albert Husted II.

Miranda Jean Hackett

Miranda Jean Hackett, infant daughter of Geoffrey and Cheryl Hackett, was sent to heaven
on March 24, 2007.

Marjorie Merriott
Marjorie D. Merriott, died March 24, 2007 at the age of 83.
She was born in Colony, Kansas on July 28, 1923, the daughter of George Chandler and
Melinda (Joens) Denton. She married John Winston Merriott on February 6, 1947 at Danforth
Chapel in Lawrence, KS. Marjorie was a proofreader for the East Lansing Towne Courier
newspaper, two advertising agencies in Grand Rapids, Stevens Advertising and Sefton
Associates. Marjorie was a Tupperware Representative for many years. She was also a member
of glee clubs and involved in the Civic Theater musicals in Grand Rapids. She enjoyed
spending time with her children and grandchildren and the company of her black pug,
Chandler.
Marjorie is survived by her two daughters, Gayle (Robert) Durbin of Olathe, KS and Jan
(Michael) Williams of Grand Rapids, MI, her grandchildren, Neil (Kari), Brian, Christin
and Cory Faccio; John, Jared and Jordan Wight; Adam Bagwell; and her great grandchild,
Brett Daniel Faccio, her special niece, Denise Hurst and several nieces and nephews. She
was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, brother, Lovay Denton, her daughter
Marilyn Marie Faccio and her son, Daniel Chandler Merriott.
A memorial service and committal will be held at the Osgood Funeral
Home, 104 E. Cass St., St. Johns, MI. Memorials may be made to the American

Raymond F. Schafer
Raymond F. Schafer, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, March
21, 2007. He was born on March 16, 1921 in Fowler the son of Joseph and Mary (George)
Schafer. Raymond was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Westphalia and the Knights of
Columbus St. Jude Thaddeus #2890 Council. He was a lifelong farmer and was a member of the
South Fowler fast pitch softball team. Raymond was preceded in death by a son Gerald, 3
brothers, 2 sisters, 4 brothers-in-law and 2 sisters-in-law.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Elizabeth; children,
Mary Ann (Roger) Dershem of St. Johns, Janet (Brent) Coffman of St. Johns, Rick (Patti)
Schafer of Eagle, Bob (Doris) Schafer of Eagle, and Ron (Karen) Schafer of Westphalia; 16
grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Arthur (Mildred) Schafer; sister, Erma
Thelen; and sister-in-law, Burlene Schafer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev.
Cecilio Reyna at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 26, 2007 at St. Mary Catholic Church,
Westphalia. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. The family will
receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at the Westphalia
Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia St., Westphalia. The Rosary will be prayed at
3:00 and 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 3:00 p.m. on Sunday with a Scriptural Wake Service be
prayed at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either the
Catholic Relief Services or the Sparrow Hospice.

Thomas "Tony"
Davy died March 22, 2007, at the age of 48. Born in Ann Arbor, MI on March 15, 1959, the
son of Elmer and Marlene (Visel) Davy. He was a self-employed HVAC technician and a member
of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Tony was married to Jeanne Miller in Remus, MI on June 7,
1980.
Tony is survived by his wife, Jeanne of St. Johns,
daughters, Marcy (Chris Haywood) Davy of Ypsilanti, Lisa (Brad Manzullo) Davy of St. Johns
and Brooke (Matt) Keilen of Wichita Falls, TX. Also surviving Tony are his mother, Marlene
Davy and brothers, Bud (Jean) Davy, James Davy, David (Sue) Davy, Sandy Davy and many
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Davy.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Monday, March
26, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy officiating. The family
will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Sunday at the Osgood Funeral Home with a vigil service

Erma Kadolph
Erma V. Kadolph died March 22, 2007, at the age of 93. Born
in Fairfield Township, MI on November 21, 1913, the daughter of Earl and Gladys (Curtis)
Darling. She married Lawrence Kadolph Sr. on June 22, 1934 in Shiawassee County, MI. She
was a homemaker most of her life.
Erma is survived by a daughter, Colleen (Neal) Criner of Roscommon, MI, a son, Lawrence L.
(Dorothy) Kadolph of Elsie, four grandchildren, David, Brian, Douglas and Sherry and
eleven great grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers, Duane Darling, Ernest
Darling and Elwin Darling and one sister, Dorothy Clark. She was preceded in death by her
husband in March 1996, grandson, Dean Kadolph, brother, Duard Darling and sisters, Ruth
Harris, Ruby Taylor and Ina Horn.
Memorial services will be held 11 A.M. Saturday, March 31, 2007 at the Carland United

Robert Reid, Sr.
Robert C. Reid Sr. died March 22, 2007, at the age of 79. Born in Owosso, MI on July 11,
1927, the son of Carl and Edith (Barrette) Reid. He married Joan M. Groom on July 19, 1947
in Ovid, MI. He was a longtime member of VFW Post #4005 in Corunna, MI and the Elks Lodge
#753 in Owosso.
Robert is survived by a daughter, Jan Wildermuth of Owosso, a son, Robert (Lynn) Reid Jr.
of Owosso, grandchildren, Jarrod (Julie) Wildermuth of Corunna, Jason Wildermuth of Durand
and JoAnna Wildermuth, Lani (Jennifer) Reid and Carrie (Dan) Hoag all of Owosso along with
7 great children. He is also survived by a sister, Kristine (Alan) Harrington of New
Hampshire, brother, Carl (Patty) Reid of South Carolina and several nieces and nephews. He
was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister, Katherine Losey and brother, Gerald
Reed.

Edgar B. Prowant
Edgar B. Prowant, age 71, died suddenly on March 16, 2007 at Kennedy Space Center in
Florida, while spending the day there with his stepson and grandson. He was born in Durand
and moved to St. Johns in 1955. Ed and Beverly spent winters in Eustis, Florida. He was a
15-year survivor of throat cancer. Ed was a dedicated employee of Sealed Power for 39
years and retired in 1993. He was a talented jazz musician and spent many Sunday
afternoons making "happy music" with lifelong friends. Ed was lovingly called
"Ebah" by his children. Ed was a voracious reader and his remarkable memory
could always be tapped for a wealth of information. Ed loved his cottage and pontoon at
Littlefield Lake, his barn, his Ford tractor and his "stuff." He felt that
everything had value and should be saved. He will be remembered for his gentle humor and
his generous spirit. He was born March 29, 1935 to Ernest and Mildred Prowant.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Beverly; son, Jon
Prowant, Ovid; stepdaughter, Janie (Brad) Quinn, St. Johns; stepdaughter, Mary Jo (Werner)
Bartels, Tonganoxie, Kansas; and stepson, Gary Hinton, St. Johns. Ed is also survived by
grandchildren, Carrie and Chad Quinn, Celeste and Leah Bartels, Andrew and Gary B. Hinton,
Jordan (Casey) Messer; great-grandson, Kahden Messer; brother, William Prowant, Gaines;
sister, Arlene (Willard) Hilgendorf, Perry; and first wife, Marie. He was preceded in
death by his parents, and sons Ron and Sam.
Cremation will take place and a memorial service is being
planned for mid-May.
Joseph J. Guyski Sr.
Joseph J. Guyski Sr., age
84, of Henderson, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at Hazel Findlay Country Manor in
St. Johns. Mr. Guyski was a press operator for Federal Mogul and also worked on the family
dairy farm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday
at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Fr. Phil Schweda officiating. Burial to
follow at St. Paul Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House
Funeral Home this evening 6 to 8 p.m., and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with
the family present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Rosary will be prayed Thursday evening at
7 p.m.
Joseph was born June 29, 1922, in Flint, the son of Stanley
and Mary (Marcheski) Guyski. He served in the United States Army during World War II. On
Oct. 26, 1946, he married Elizabeth Benko at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Owosso.
Joseph was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, the
VFW in Owosso and the American Legion in Elsie. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing and
working on the family farm. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by: his wife, Elizabeth; children, Joe Jr.
(Susan) Guyski, Jerry (Diana) Guyski, Linda (Richard) Miles, David (Michele) Guyski;
grandchildren, Jenae (Gary) VanEffen, Dan (Becky) Guyski, Jacob and Karen Guyski,
Elizabeth and Sarah Miles, David Jr. and Matthew Guyski; three great-grandchildren,
Hailey, Tyler and Brendan VanEffen; brothers, Arthur Guysky, Frank (Ann) Guysky; sisters,
Francis Wiegel, Helen (John) Conroy; sister-in-law, Margaret Guyski; and several nieces,
nephews and loving family members. He was predeceased by brothers, Stanley, Adam and John;
