Darrell Allan Peterson

peterson_darrel.jpg (3522 bytes)Darrell Allan Peterson age 72 of Elsie, Michigan died Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at Ingham Regional Medical Center Lansing, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel St. Johns, MI on Friday, May 11, 2007 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Margery Schleicher will officiate with burial at Evergreen Cemetery Lansing, Mich. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2007 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.

Darrell was born in Sears, Michigan on September 19, 1934 the son of Lovell and Mable ( Bracket ) Peterson. He resided most of his life in St. Johns area. Darrell married Marjorie K. Andrews on April 7, 1962 at the United Methodist Church of Holt, MI. He served in the U.S. Army and he was a former 4-H Leader. Darrell retired from Oldsmobile in 1994 after 42 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. Darrell was a member of the UAW Local #652.

He is survived by his wife Marjorie Peterson of Elsie, MI, daughter Christina and Steven Krzeminski of Fenwick, MI, 2 sons; Larry and Mary Peterson of DeWitt, MI, Mike Peterson and Brenda Pline of Muir, MI, 4 grandchildren; Nicholas, Michael , Tyler, and Lauren, 2 sisters; Darlene and Jerry Schroder of Evart, MI, Gayle Talhelm of Flint, MI, 2 brothers; Carlos Peterson of DeWitt, MI, Duane and Paula Peterson of Evart, MI, and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, one sister Norma, and twin brother Dale.

Memorials may be made to MSU Breslin Cancer Center, East Lansing, MI. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel.

Jeanette Mary Keilen

Jeanette Mary Keilen, Westphalia, age 81, passed away on May 6, 2007. She was born on June 1, 1925 the daughter of Arnold and Mathilda (Thelma) Weiland. Mrs. Keilen was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Westphalia and the Christian Mothers Society. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, playing cards, and flower gardening. Her greatest love was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. On May 3, 1945 she married Herbert Keilen in Westphalia and last week they celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Leon Weiland; sisters, Rita Miller and Irene Schrauben; and son-in-law, John Voisinet.

Surviving are her husband, Herbert; 4 daughters, Ruth Voisinet of Laingsburg, Jane (Vic) Voisinet of Eagle, Patricia (Timothy) Jackson of St. Johns, and Donna (Robert) Besinger of St. Johns; 2 sons, Thomas Keilen and Daniel (Kathy) Keilen both of Portland; 22 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Anita Fitzpatrick of Ionia and Evelyn Weiland of Westphalia; brothers-in-law, Vincent Keilen of Lansing and Francis (Hilda) Keilen of St. Johns; and many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Cecilio Reyna at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at St. Mary Church, Westphalia. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary Cemetery. The family will receive friend 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Monday and Tuesday at the St. Mary Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia St.. The Rosaries will be prayed at 3 and 8 p.m., Monday and 3 p.m., Tuesday. There will be a Scriptural Wake Service held at 8 p.m., Tuesday. For those wishing memorial contributions may made to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements are entrusted to the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland.

Ruth S. Davis

Davis, our sweet and gentle mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Ruth Schultheiss Davis, was called to her eternal rest Friday May 4, 2007, to be reunited forever with her husband of 48 years, at the age of 78. She was born October 16, 1928 in Louisville, KY the daughter of Christian and Karoline (Schittenhelm) Schultheiss and was a former stenographer-secretary in Louisville and a homemaker. Since 1953 Ruth was a member of the First United Methodist Church and her strong faith was a large part of her life. Her family was most precious to her and she dearly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and helped in their gentle upbringing. On June 3, 1950 she married Jack H. Davis and together they were very active with Ovid- Elsie Girls Varsity Tennis and St. Johns Boys J.V. Tennis, he as coach and she as number one fan. Those tennis teams were all, each and everyone the best extended family in the whole world. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack on July 21, 1998.

Surviving are two daughters, Ann (Norm) Holm of St. Johns and Sue Navratil of Ankeny, IA; five grandchildren, Sarah (Shaun) May of Canton, MI, Norm Jr. (Hillarie) Holm and Heidi (Malcolm) Wilson all of St. Johns, Joel and Andrew Navratil both of Ankeny, IA; five great grandchildren, Collin and Hunter May, and Emma, Jack and Ellie Wilson; one sister, Eleanora (Harold) Meier and one nephew Don (Kathy) Meier, and their children, Kristie and Lee all of Louisville, KY.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church 200 E. State St., St. Johns with Rev. Margery A. Schleicher officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends 6-8 pm Sunday and 2-4 and 6-8 pm Monday at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns 989-224- 4422. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or the Veterans Avenue of Flags at Mt. Rest Cemetery.

Dorothy E. Nobach

nobach_dorothy.jpg (4378 bytes)Dorothy E. Nobach died May 4, 2007, at the age of 78. She was born in Lansing on August 5, 1928, the daughter of Oscar and Lena Mae (Ferris) Veelman. She was a homemaker and member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Her greatest love was to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was superb at crocheting afghans for her family, she loved to bake, work on jig-saw puzzles and a competitive game of Euchre was especially fun for her. Dorothy married Maynard Nobach in Lansing on September 25, 1948 and he survives her.

Also surviving are her sons, Michael (Ginny) Nobach of St. Johns, Thomas (Karen) Nobach of Fowler, Roger (Rose) Nobach St. Johns, Russell (Brooke) Nobach of Fowler and Tim (Marla) Nobach of Gregory, 18 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, sister, Marjory Platte of Holt , and dear friend, Shirley Coscarella, also of Holt. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services will be 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at the Goerge Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, Fowler, with David Hudgens officiating. The family will receive friends 1-3 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorials to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan.

Margaret Ann Heyboer

heyboer_margaret.jpg (3753 bytes)Margaret Ann Heyboer died Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at the age of 55. She was born June 15, 1951 in St. Johns the daughter of Raymond and Eleanor (Emmons) Thornton. She was a graduate of Ovid-Elsie High School and attended Lansing Community College. She was an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, a volunteer with the American Cancer Society and a participant in the Relay for Life and she worked in the Clinton County, MSU Extension Office for several years. On October 24, 1981 she married Howard Heyboer and together they were foster parents to many children.

Surviving is her husband, Howard; one son Chris of St. Johns; her many foster children; two sisters, Rev. Rae Louise (Chuck) Franke of Lansing, Betty Jane Thornton of Lake Havasu City, AZ and one brother, Dale Thornton. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Martha Mae and one brother, James Arthur Thornton.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Saturday, May 5, 2007 at St. Peter Lutheran Church 8990 Church Rd. St. Johns with Pastor Jeffrey Heimsoth officiating. Interment will follow at St. Peter Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends 6-8 pm Thursday and Friday at the Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns 989-224-4422.
