Iva Mae Warner Iva Mae Warner died Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at the age of 85. She was
born March 1, 1922 in Lansing, MI the daughter of Earl and Gladys (Harper) Darnell. She
was a member of Pilgrim United Methodist Church, was a volunteer at Clinton Memorial
Hospital and Volunteer of the Year in 1999. She was a secretary in the Clinton County
Clerks Office and the Clinton County Board of Education for several years. On October 9,
1943 she married Ray Warner Jr. and the two enjoyed spending winters in Arizona until his
death in 1995. She was also predeceased by a grandson Erik, and two sisters, Ila Marie
Whitlock and Arlene Viges.
Surviving are two sons, Les (Martha) Warner of Perrinton,
Lynn (Vanessa) Warner of St. Johns; six grand children, Troy (Sandi), Brent (Kelli), Scott
(Brandi), Trisha VanDerBos, Andrew, and Brandon and ten great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Friday, May 18, 2007 at
Pilgrim United Methodist Church 2965 W. Parks Rd. St. Johns with Pastor Ken Bremer
officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive relatives
and friends 6-8 pm Wednesday and 2-4 and 6-8 pm Thursday at Keck-Coleman
Funeral Home St. Johns 989-224-4422. Memorials may be made to Pilgrim United

Beatrice A. DeMarais
Beatrice A. DeMarais died May 13, 2007, at the
age of 94. She was born in Morrice, MI on July 12, 1912, the daughter of William and
Elizabeth (Goodwin) Edington. She was a clerk in the Meat Department at Krogers for
many years, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Johns, attended St. James
Catholic Church in Houghton Lake and was a member of the Houghton Lake Association.
Beatrice enjoyed playing cards, fishing, snowmobiling, deer hunting, gambling, bowling,
spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are her children, Ardith Taylor, Phillip (Sharon) DeMarais, all of St. Johns and
Phyllis Trefil of Perrinton, 19 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren, 16 great great
grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents,
husband, Ira A. DeMarais, son, Arvid DeMarais, two great grandchildren, one great great
grandchild and sons-in-law, William Taylor and Joe Trefil.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic
Church, St. Johns, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy officiating. The
family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Tuesday at the Osgood Funeral
Home with a rosary prayed at 7 P.M. Tuesday. Sympathy may be expressed in the
form of memorials to the charity of the donors choice.
Ernest H. Hauser
Ernest H. Hauser died
Thursday, May 10, 2007 at the age of 82. He was born July 28, 1924 in Riley Township,
Clinton County, MI the son of Herman and Amelia (Grenke) Hauser. He was a lifelong member
of St. Peter Lutheran Church and enjoyed farming, blacksmithing, woodworking and
traveling. Ernie was a retired General Motors journeyman pipe fitter with 33 years of
service.
Surviving are his wife, Jean; one daughter, Susan (Michael)
Freeman; two sons, Richard (Pamela), Douglas (Lisa); six grandchildren, Nichelle,
Ashleigh, Joshua, Heather, Jared, and Brittany; two great-grandchildren, Alaina and
Lauryn; two sisters, Lillian (Lawrence) Seeger and Frieda Felzke; sister-in-law, Ruth
Hauser; and brother-in-law, Bernard Vance. He was predeceased by his parents, one sister,
Bertha Vance, and one grandson, Ryan Freeman.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2007
at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 8990 Church Rd., St. Johns with Pastor Jeffrey Heimsoth
officiating. Interment will follow at St. Peter Cemetery. The family will receive
relatives and friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Keck-Coleman

91 of Elsie, Michigan died Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at Ovid Healthcare Center Ovid, MI.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Cyril's Catholic Church Bannister, MI on
Saturday, May 12, 2007 at 10:00 AM. Rev. Fr. Wolfgang Streichardt will officiate with
burial at Ford Cemetery Gratiot County, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May
10, 2007 from 6-8 P.M. and Friday, May 11, 2007 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 and
6-8 P.M. Rosary will be prayed Friday evening at 7:00 at the funeral home.
Norman was born in Erie County, New York on October 13, 1915 the son of Dee Ara and Mary (
Dye ) Blakely. He moved to Clinton County when he was 22 and lived in Elsie for the past
60 years. He graduated from Forestville High School with the class of 1933. He then
attended MSU. Norman married Elizabeth Katherine Vitek on April 1, 1944 at St. Joseph
Catholic Church in St. Johns, MI. He retired from MSU in 1983 where he worked as a
research technician in the Department of Horticulture. He has also worked for the D.H.I.A.
He loved gardening and flowers. He enjoyed going to Smith Camp in the summer as a 4-H
Leader, and he enjoyed woodworking. Norman was a member of St. Cyrils Catholic Church,
Bannister, MI as well as the Elsie Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post
#502, and a former 4-H Leader.
He is survived by wife Elizabeth Blakely of Elsie, MI, 3 daughters; Katherine Marie
Blakely of Brentwood, TN, Marie and Mike Blakely of Franklin, TN, Helen and Mike Potter of
Middleton, MI, one son Norman and Tracie Blakely of Elsie, MI, 6 grandchildren; Katrina
and Jake Stewart of Ashley, MI, Norman Paul and Amanda Blakely of St. Johns, MI, Mary
Agnes Blakely of Williamston, MI, Joseph Michael Thelen of Franklin, TN, Joel Thelen of
Franklin, TN, Joshua Potter of Middleton, MI, one great grandson Norman Hunter Blakely of
St. Johns, MI. He is predeceased by parents, 4 sisters, and 5 brothers.
Memorials may be made to a Charity of the Donors Choice. The family is being served by Smith
Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.

Barbara Jean Saylor, 59, Rainbow Inn (Perrinton) bartender,
died Monday April 9, 2007. Services were held at April 11, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Dodge
Funeral Home, Middleton.
