Lawrence R. Shoup Lawrence R. Shoup died June 19, 2007, at the age of 98. He was born in Napoleon, Ohio on March 11, 1909, the son of Clarence and Bessie (Ludeman) Shoup. He lived in a log house until he was 4 and moved to St. Johns in 1921. He was a farmer his entire life, a member of Duplain United Methodist Church, loved visiting Mammoth Cave, Kentucky and watching Bob Barker on The Price Is Right. Lawrence married Blanche Treat on May 25, 1935 in Elsie and she preceded him in death on June 22, 1993. Surviving is his daughter, Phyllis (Larry) Irrer of St. Johns, two sons, Richard (Charlotte) Shoup of St. Johns and Robert (Brigitte) Shoup of Santa Fe, New Mexico, four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Florence Geller and three brothers, Fred Ludeman, Howard Shoup and Harry Shoup. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, June 23, 2007 at the Osgood Funeral Home, burial at Duplain Cemetery with Rev. Brian Sheen officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. 18, 2007, at the age of 100. Born September 3, 1906 in Duplain Township, Michigan the
daughter of Robert and Mary (Smith) Walton and lived in Clinton County all of her life.
Julia was a retired Nurse Aide from Clinton Memorial Hospital after 25 years of service. Craig A. Nickols, Laingsburg, age 35, passed away at his home on Sunday, June 17, 2007. Craig was born in Lansing on December 26, 1971 to Kenneth and Leia (Pace) Nickols. He married Carrie Beeman in St. Johns on October 30, 1997. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lansing and he was a self-enployed mechanic. Craig is survived by his wife Carrie; his daughter, Lonnie; step-daughter, Shyann Johnson; brother, Todd Nickols of Bath; father, Kenneth of Bath; and mother, Leia of Lansing. He was predeceased by both grandparents. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday June 21, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Watkins Brothers Funeral Home in Laingburg with Pastor Paul Lindloff officiating. Family will meet with friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will take place in the Laingburg Cemetery. Memorials can be given to the family (for Lonnies education). Esther Catherine Kramer, Pewamo, age 81, passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2007. She was born on May 14, 1926 in Westphalia the daughter of Peter and Mary Goodman. Esther was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pewamo. She enjoyed flowers, playing Yatzee, and being on the go with her family. Her greatest joy was the love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Esther was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother and 3 sisters. Surviving are her children Janet (Steve) Thurston, Gary (Sheri) Kramer, Donna (Bob) Grounds, Beverly (Jeff) Fink and Don (special friend, Pam) Kramer; 16 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Charlon O. Mason at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 18, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m., Saturday and 2-4 and 7-9 pm., Sunday at the St. Mary's Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia St., Westphalia. The rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m., Saturday and 3 p.m., Sunday. The Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 8 p.m., Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
