Hazel Carpenter Hazel Carpenter died
August 19, 2007 at the age of 90. She was born in Lansing on August 15, 1917, the daughter
of Charles and Ruth (Sturgis) Williams. She was a member of the Eagles Club in Owosso.
Hazel married Gerald D. Carpenter in Lansing on November 4, 1936 and he preceded her in
death on April 19, 2001. Michael
"Mike" Thomas Luznak age 78 of Bannister, Michigan died Sunday, August 19, 2007
at Carson City Hospital, Carson City, Michigan. Harold B. Wineland, 98 of St. Johns, MI died Aug. 18, 2007 at Laurels of Fulton. He was born on Aug. 7, 1909 the son of Willis and Bertha (Young) Wineland. He spent all his life in Gratiot and Clinton Counties, and was a farmer. On January 18, 1936 he married Letha Winslow. She preceded him in death January 11, 1993. He is survived by 5 sons, Dale Wineland of Grand Ledge, Duane and Colleen Wineland of Ithaca, Larry and Bette Wineland of DeWitt, Laurence and Judy Wineland of DeWitt, Keith and Vickie Wineland of St. Johns. Daughter,Doris Lightner of Charlotte. 19 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wife Letha, son Lloyd Wineland, daughter Karen Wineland, son-in-law, Robert Lightner, Sr., daughter-in-law Deanna Wineland, grandson Robert Lightner, Jr., and great grandson Edward Felzke, as well as his parents and 2 sisters. The family will receive friends at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007 10A.M. until 2:00 P.M. at which time services will be with Pastor Paul Daniels officiating. Burial will follow at Payne Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Laurels of Fulton or the charity of the donors choice. Roman J. Thelen died August 18, 2007 at the age of 88. He was born in Westphalia Township on September 15, 1918, the son of Albert and Pauline (Fedewa) Thelen. He was a retired maintenance person for Bank of Lansing and was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Surviving is his sister, Mary Schafer, nieces, Marie (Dan) Schafer-Halsey, Kathy (David) Berquist and Theresa (Michael) Walker, nephews, Robert (Suzanne) Schafer, Jerome (Deb) Schafer and Dennis (Tammy) Schafer and many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, Norbert Schafer and niece, Jeanne Schafer. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30a.m. on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, burial at St. Mary's Cemetery, Westphalia, with Rev. Fr. Timothy MacDonald officiating. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. on Sunday with a rosary at 7p.m. and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday with a rosary at 3p.m. and a vigil service at 7p.m. at the Goerge Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorials to Most Holy Trinity Educational Trust Fund or the charity of the family's choice. Claire R. Haske died August 17, 2007 at the age of 93. She was born in Detroit, Michigan January 21, 1914 the daughter of Joseph and Philomena (Monkevich) Permen. She retired in 1984 as an L.P.N. at Clinton Memorial Hospital after 22 years of service. She also worked as a private duty nurse and formerly served on the St. Johns City Planning Commission and was a Girl Scout leader. Claire was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Ladies Altar Society. She married Herman Haske June 25, 1938 and he preceded her in death November 28, 1960. Claire is survived by three daughters, Gail (James) Nutter of Perry, Susan (Michael) Greiter of Edmonton-Alberta, Canada and Judith (James) Judd of Shawano, Wisconsin, five grandchildren, Tereasa Brainerd of Wilmington, Massachusetts, Matthew Nutter of Pine, Colorado, Katherine Nutter of Perry, Brian Judd of Kiel, Wisconsin, Elizabeth Jenkins of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and seven great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Claire was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Permen and Adele Miller, and three brothers, Alphonse Permen and twins, Edward and Joseph Permen. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 24, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday 2:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns with a vigil service being held at 8:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will be Monday, August 27, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery, Detroit. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Education Trust Fund or Clinton Memorial Hospital. Marjorie W. Glowney age 87 of Bannister, Michigan died on Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at Clinton Memorial Hospital in St. Johns, Michigan. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 20 2007 at the Bannister United Methodist Church at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Jon Pohl and Rev. Kathy Leydorf will officiate and visitation will be on Saturday and Sunday from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie chapel. Burial will take place at Ford Cemetery, Gratiot County, Michigan. Marjorie was born on July 18, 1920 the daughter of Eugene and Anna (Heireman) Ensign and had resided most of her life in Bannister, Michigan. She had graduated from Bannister High School and then graduated from Central Michigan College in Mt. Pleasant with a teaching degree. Marjorie and married Floyd Glowney on June 18, 1944 in Bannister, Michigan, Floyd died December 22, 1998. She had taught school in Elsie and Bannister and many years at the country schools. She was a farmer and a farmers wife, a piano teacher, 4 H Leader, who enjoyed cooking and baking. She was also a member of Bannister United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Hippo Club. Survivors include her 1 daughter, Anne and Dennis Green of Montana, 3 sons, Peter Glowney of Laingsburg, Michigan, John and Connie Glowney of Seattle, Washington, Timothy and Anell Glowney of Charlevoix, Michigan, her grandchildren, Travis Glowney, Stephanie Green, Benjamin Glowney, Alysen Glowney, Lane Green, Colton Green, Abigail Glowney, 1 sister, Grace and Duane Green of Elsie, Michigan. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, 2 sisters, Mary Zimmerman, Lillian Terrell, and 1 brother Albert Ensign. Memorial may be made to the Bannister United Methodist Church.
