75 of Bannister, MI died Sunday, October 7, 2007 at McLaren Regional Medical Center,
Flint, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel Elsie, MI on
Thursday, October 11, 2007 at 11:00 AM. Mr. Thomas Bradley will officiate with burial at
Ford Cemetery Gratiot County, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 9,
2007 from 6-8 P.M. and on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 from 2-8 P.M. with family present
from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.
Helen was born in Owosso, Michigan on May 23, 1932 the daughter of Walter and Catherine (
Fanko ) Cords. She resided most of her life in the Elsie area and graduated from Elsie
High School with the class of 1951. Helen married Albert J. Wassa on August 25, 1951 at
St. Cyrils Catholic Church in Bannister, MI. She was a homemaker. Helen enjoyed bowling,
and did it for 50 years. She also enjoyed gardening. Helen was the group leader for bus
trips to the casinos out of the ZCBJ Lodge in Bannister. She enjoyed fishing, and spending
time with her family. She wasthe oldest of ten children. Helen was a member of the ZCBJ
Locge, Alba Sunshine Club, Moose Lodge #1566 in St. Louis, and the Fraternal Order of
Eagles or Mt. Morris, MI.
She is survived by her husband Albert Wassa of Bannister, MI, son Joseph Wassa & Mary
Newman of Bannister, MI, 3 sisters; Patricia Dansby, Mary Ann Cornell, Linda Kanter, 4
brothers David Cords, Walter Cords, Louis Cords, Russell Cords, and several nieces &
nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, 1 sister Pauline, and 1 brother Fred.

Dolores T. Martin
Dolores T. Martin, Westphalia, age 76, passed away on
Saturday, October 6, 2007. She was born on September 2, 1931 in Westphalia the daughter of
John I. and Irene (Armbrust-macher) Thelen and lived in Westphalia all he life. She was a
member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers Guild. She was preceded in
death by her sister, Joan Schafer. She married Anthony G. Martin on May 7, 1955 and
together shared 52 years of marriage.
Surviving are her husband, Tony; daughters Cheryl Martin,
Kay (Kevin) Higgins, Sheila (Stephen) Pulling, Lisa Martin, Gwen (Louis) Stoneburner, and
Tracy (Phil) Gensterblum; 12 grandchildren, special granddaughter, Krista Stauffer; 2
great-grandchildren; brother, John (Alice) Thelen; sisters Patricia (Edward) Wieber,
Bernadette (Richard) Droste, and Theresa (Casper) Feldpausch; brother-in-law, Gilbert
Schafer; and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev.
Cecilio Reyna at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 11, 2007 at St. Mary Catholic Church,
Westphalia. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary Cemetery. The family will receive
friends 7-9 p.m., Tuesday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Wednesday at the St. Mary Funeral Chapel,
210 N. Westphalia St. The Rosaries will be prayed at 8 p.m. on Tuesday and 3 p.m.
Wednesday. A Scriptural Wake Service will be prayed at 8 p.m., Wednesday. The family would
like to thank Sparrow Hospice Services for their care given to Dolores. Arrangements are

Terry L. Wooley
Terry L. Wooley age 63 of
Elsie, Michigan died Monday, October 1, 2007 at his home.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel Elsie, MI on
Thursday, October 4, 2007 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Paul Hane will officiate. Visitation were
held on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.
Terry was born in Cadillac, Michigan on July 24, 1944 the son of Robert D. and Dorrine (
Heisser ) Wooley. He resided most of his life in Elsie area and graduated from Elsie High
School with the class of 1962. Terry married Nancy Sutliff on March 12, 1966 in Owosso,
Michigan. He worked for GTE/Verizon for 38 years as the area manager for the western side
of the State of Michigan. Terry enjoyed hunting, golfing, and any outdoor activity. He
also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Terry was a member of the Masonic
Lodge, Lions Club, and he helped run Sports Boosters for 25 years.
He is survived by wife Nancy Wooley of Elsie, MI, 2 sons; Terry and Sheila Wooley of
Jonesville, MI, Troy and Kelly Wooley of Corunna, MI, 1 granddaughter Casey, 2 grandsons;
Nicholas and Christopher, special nephew Jason and Trista Thompson and daughter Natalie of
Perry, MI, 3 brothers; Doug and Carol Wooley of St. Johns, MI, Robin and Karen Wooley of
Elsie, MI, Bill Wooley of Elsie, MI, several nieces and nephews, and special cousin Kathy
and Ben Gibson of Bay City, MI. He is predeceased by his parents and granddaughter Alicia.

Forest C. Kremer
Forest C. Kremer age 89
of Bannister, Michigan died Monday, October 1, 2007 at Memorial Healthcare Center, Owosso,
Michigan.
Forest was born February 4, 1918 in Bannister, Michigan, the son of George F. and Anna
Marie (Koch) Kremer. He was a life-long resident, milk hauler and farmer of Chapin
Township, Saginaw County. In 1935 at the age of seventeen, he worked for Judd Somers. The
following year, he started hauling milk for Millard McCreary of Ovid. Forest purchased a
milk route in 1938 and was a self-employed milk hauler for twenty-seven years, resulting
in a total of thirty years of service from 1936-1965, in the Elsie-Ovid area.
Forest was drafted into the army at Detroit, MI on November 24, 1942. He was sent to Fort
Custer in Battle Creek, MI; then to Camp Haun for training on the Mojave Desert. Forest
went to Ordinance School in Orlando, FL and finished his training in Camp Stewart,
Georgia. He and the advanced guard moved the army equipment from Georgia to California by
train. He was shipped out of San Francisco to New Guinea on a small Liberty boat which
took twenty-eight days to arrive to their destination. Lingayen Gulf, in the Philippines,
was the last invasion of the South Pacific War. The war ended after the bombing of
Hiroshima, Japan. Forest then returned to San Francisco, California and ate his 1945
Christmas dinner under the Golden Gate Bridge. He was discharged at Fort Sheridan,
Illinois, January 6, 1946. He served his country for three and a half years in the Pacific
Area Army during World War II in the Searchlight Battalion as a T/4 Sergeant, Heavy Duty
Truck Driver, Mechanic and later as a Motor Pool Sergeant. Forest enjoyed hunting and
fishing. He enjoyed working his farm and had great pride in it. Forest was a member of the
Michigan Farm Bureau, Michigan Milk Producers Association and the VFW Post #8964 in Ovid,
MI.
After returning from the Pacific Theatre, Forest continued with his milk route. He hauled
milk seven days a week, lifting and carrying 70 to 120 cans of milk weighing 50 to 120
pounds unto his truck and unloading at the milk plant. On March 2, 1946 Forest
married Dorothy K. Williams. He is survived by Dorothy and their four children; Howard and
Linda Kremer of Coleman, MI, Larry Kremer of Elsie, MI, Bonnie and Dr. Walter Crowson of
Bingham Farms, MI. and Brenda and Gregg Denton of Plymouth, MI, 2 grandchildren Tamara
Kremer Jousset of Indianapolis, IN and Theodore Kremer of Pottersville, MI 1 great
granddaughter Joelle Lilly Jousett, step great grandson Sean Murphy Collon, 1 sister
Shirley Evans of Ashley, MI and many friends and neighbors. He was predeceased by 5
brothers Laurence, Marcus, Jacob, Edward, and George, and 2 sisters Ursulien and Leafy.
Funeral Services was held on Friday, October 5, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at Smith Family Funeral
Homes, Elsie Chapel. Pastor Ed Snook will officiate with burial at Riverside Cemetery,
Elsie, MI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 from 6-8 P.M. and on
Thursday, October 4, 2007 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.
Memorials may be made to the VFW Post #8964, Ovid, MI or to the American Cancer Society.
