Mark Schrauben

schrauben_mark.jpg (3804 bytes)Mark W. Schrauben died December 10, 2007, at the age of 89. He was born in Riley Township, Michigan on June 22, 1918, the son of Charles and Regina (Feneis) Schrauben. He retired from Oldsmobile in 1976, was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II, a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, V.F.W. Post #3733 and Fowler Conservation Club. Mark married Margaret Koenigsknecht in Fowler on November 5, 1947 and she preceded him in death on April 7, 1995.

Surviving are his sons, Larry (Dee) Schrauben of Clarkston and Mark (Sue) Schrauben of Lake Orion, MI, daughters, Jane (Luke) Thelen of Fowler, Mary Ann (Mike) White of Lapeer, Delores (Jim) Milnor of Bay City, Pat (Dennis) Schwerzler of Troy, Linda (Steve) Schafer and Cindy (Luke) Klein, all of St. Johns, 18 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, sisters, Margaret “Peg” Gregg, Evelyn Kent and Rosaline Babcock, sisters-in-law, Mary Klein and Patricia Koenigsknecht and brother-in-law, George (Joan) Koenigsknecht. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and 3 sisters.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, December 15, 2007 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, burial at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery with Rev. Fr. John Klein and Rev. Fr. Dennis Howard con-celebrating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Thursday and Friday at the Goerge Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes with rosary prayed 3 and 8 P.M. Thursday, 3 P.M. Friday and a vigil service 8 P.M. Friday. Military services provided by V.F.W. Post #3733. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorials to Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church or Maryknoll Missioners.

Jill Renee Rennaker

Jill Renee Rennaker, age 41, died December 10, 2007; born March 3, 1966 in Lansing, Michigan. Jill fought a long courageous battle with San Filippos Syndrome (MPS III), that normally takes ones life early on. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, James Jones and Ralph Rennaker, and grandmother, Vada W. Jones-Bellows.

Surviving are her parents, Ralph and Bonnie Rennaker; brother, Chip (Wendy) Rennaker; sister, Mindy Rennaker; nephews, Andrew, Maxwell and Samuel Rennaker; grandmother, Betty Rennaker; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jill would especially want her loving caregivers at the Williamston Group Home to be recognized by all of her family and friends. Bless them all.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 13, 11:00 a.m. at Redeemer United Methodist Church, 13980 Shavey Road, DeWitt with the Rev. Dr. Rodney J. Kalajainen, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Lansing. The family will receive friends at the Chapel Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.

Patrick L. Delaney

delaney_patrick.jpg (5457 bytes)Patrick L. Delaney, age 78, of Owosso, passed away Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, at Memorial Healthcare. Patrick worked construction as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of the Operating Engineers Union 324, for 45 years.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Ovid, with the Rev. Fr. Larry Delaney officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul's Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Home this evening 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Rosary will be prayed Tuesday evening at 7 p.m.

Patrick was born Feb. 3, 1929, in Owosso, the son of Frank and Hazel (Shelp) Delaney. He attended Owosso schools. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War from 1948 to 1952. On July 12, 1952, he married Beverly A. Mandock at St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Tawas.

Survivors include: his wife, Beverly; five sons, Frank Delaney of Owosso, Dennis (Mary) Delaney of Auburn, Ala., Raymond (Cathy) Delaney of Sterling, Mich., and Kenneth (Christine) Delaney of Coldwater, Robert Delaney of Owosso; two daughters, Barbara (Lynn) Bolton of Ovid, Karen Delaney of Owosso; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Max (Mary Ann) Delaney, Carl (Ann) Delaney, and James Delaney; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by: son, Ronnie Delaney; three grandchildren, Nicole, Jason and Cameron; his parents; three brothers, Paul, Leo and Jack.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Dewitt Retreat House.

Duane W. Beck

Duane W. Beck age 69 of Ashley, Michigan died Sunday, December 9, 2007 at Ingham Regional Medical Center, Lansing, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel Ithaca, MI on Thursday, December 13, 2007 at 12:00 PM. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 from 6-8 P.M.

Duane was born in Milford, Michigan on June 23, 1938 the son of Willard and Queena ( Rhynard ) Beck. He resided most of his life in the Ashley area and attended Milford & Ashley Schools. Duane married Ruth Chase on December 24, 1962 in Alma, MI. He retired from Dana Corp in 2001. He enjoyed repairing lawn mowers & small engines, and he used to farm. Duane enjoyed traveling, and spending time with his family. He loved to hunt and fish with his sons. Duane served in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife Ruth Beck of Ashley, MI, 3 children Rick Beck of Phoenix, AZ, Jeff & Monica Beck of Ithaca, MI, Kim & David Levandowski of Alma, MI, 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, brother Dale & Edna Mae Beck of Holt, MI, 2 sisters; Marilyn & Vick Palmer of Rockford, MI, Shirley & "Kat" Katelnieks of Rockford, MI, and sister-in-law: Norma Beck of Scottsdale, AZ. He is predeceased by his parents, and 1 brother Raymond Beck.

Memorials may be made to Great Lakes Cancer Institute at Ingham Regional Medical Center, 401 W. Greenlawn Avenue, Lansing, MI 48910-2819. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel.

Rose Hufnagel

Rose Hufnagel died December 8, 2007 at the age of 105.She was born November 30, 1902, the daughter of Peter and Theresa (Rademacher) Simon. She lived her entire life in the Fowler area. She was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Christian Women’s Association, and a life member of the Daughters of Isabella. Rose enjoyed playing cards and crocheting. She married Nicholas (Nick) Hufnagel on May 19, 1931 in Fowler and he preceded her in death on February 10, 1958.

Rose is survived by her daughters, Esther Eiseler, Celeste (Fran) Heckman, Helen Hungerford and Mary (Wesley) Arnold, sons Tom (Nancy) Hufnagel, Frank (Kay) Hufnagel, Clem (Marie) Hufnagel, and Jim (Carol) Hufnagel, 34 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren, sister Agnes Feldpausch and daughter-in-law Marlene Hufnagel. In addition to her husband she was also preceded in death by her son Charles Hufnagel, 3 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, sons-in-law, John Eiseler and Ken Hungerford, 8 brothers and 3 sisters.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church with burial at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with rosaries being prayed at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Monday and 3 p.m. Tuesday and a vigil service at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Goerge Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Home.

Sympathies may be expressed in the form of contributions to Eaton Community Hospice, Heartland Hospice of Mason, or the Most Holy Trinity Educational Trust Fund.

Carl Eugene Snyder

Carl Eugene Snyder of Portland, age 68, passed away on Friday, December 7, 2007. He was born on November 15, 1939 in St. Johns, Michigan the son of Wavel and Lucile (Graham) Snyder. Carl enjoyed spending time outdoors including hunting, fishing, camping and riding snowmobiles. He retired from the Portland Public Schools as a groundskeeper. Carl is preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers; 1 sister; 1 grandson and 1 great-grandson.

Surviving are his loving wife of 40 years, Helen; children, Diane (Bill) Graham of Lyons, Jr. (Brenda) Thayer of Belding, Chris (Rose) Thayer of Lyons and Belinda (Randy) James of Sheridan; 12 loving grandchildren; many loving great-grandchildren; siblings, Jack Darling of Ovid, Edna Faylor of Fowler, Betty Rowley of Ionia, Delores Brunk of Stanton, John Snyder of Belding, Tom Snyder of Ionia and Bill Snyder of Middleville and numerous neices and nephews; with a special thank you to Bruce, John, Diane, Bill and grandchildren Brett and Dia.

Cremation has taken place according to family wishes. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in Carl's name. The family is being served by the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home

Alberta L. Kosht

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel St. Johns, MI on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at 1:00 PM. Pastor Charles Kruger will officiate with burial at Maple Grove Cemetery Ovid, MI. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 9, 2007 and Monday, December 10, 2007 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.

Alberta was born in St. Johns, Michigan on April 15, 1915 the daughter of Albert J. and Lillian M. ( Warner ) Thompson. She resided most of her life in St. Johns area. Alberta married Lloyd Myers in 1934. He died in 1970. She then married Bill Kosht in 1971. He died in 1988. She was a homemaker. She also worked as a nurses aid, and at Federal Mogul. Alberta enjoyed bowling, and making baby blankets. She sent out hundreds of get well cards and letters to shut-ins and people around the world that she would hear about in need. She had a good heart.

She is survived by 3 daughters; Joyce and Maynard Failing of Carson City, MI, Mary Gallagher of St. Johns, MI, Barbara and Gary Werner of Ovid, MI, 1 son Gary and Joanne Myers of Owosso, MI, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, 4 sisters; May Speidel of St. Johns, MI, Margaret Garrison of Ohio, Marion Louise Stewart of Muskegon, MI, Betty Joan Tyler of Oregon, 6 brothers; Rev. Charles Thompson of Croswell, MI, Ward "Bud" and Kay Thompson of Lansing, MI, Florien Thompson of Mississippi, Leon and Gladys Thompson of Alaska, Walter Thompson of Portland, MI, and David Bruce and Mary Thompson of Great Falls, MT. She is predeceased by her parents, 2 husbands, 2 children; Donna Ruechert and Richard Myers and granddaughter Brenda Thomas.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel.

Kelsey Lynne Bauman

bauman_kelsey.jpg (4371 bytes)Kelsey Lynne Bauman of DeWitt died at Sparrow Hospital on December 4, 2007, after a courageous and inspiring battle with cancer. Kelsey was born in Lansing on October 13, 1996, to Nanette Lynne Bauman (Fish) and Mark Alan Bauman. Kelsey was a vibrant and energetic 11-year-old girl. She passed away quietly and calmly holding her mother's hand with her father standing beside her. Kelsey was a 6th grader at St. Johns Middle School. She was an avid lover of animals, ballet dancer, soccer player, pianist and equestrian. She was a proud member of the Rose Lake Pony Club. Kelsey attended both Calvary Baptist Church and North Pointe Community Church.

Kelsey is survived by her mother and father, as well as her older sister, Kaylee Grace and younger brother, Noah Alan. She is also survived by her grandparents, Gordon and Janelda Fish and Robert and Arlene Bauman. Kelsey was very loved by many aunts, uncles, cousins, her best friend, Savannah Belbeck and many beloved friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 8, 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 14769 Wood Road, Lansing. The family will receive friends at the Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E. Washington, DeWitt Thursday and Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Saturday 1 hour prior at the Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to C.H.U.M. (Children and Horses United in Movement) Therapeutic Riding Program. C.H.U.M. was a very special part of Kelsey's past summer. C.H.U.M. is a therapeutic riding and "hippotherapy" program directed by Bonnie DePue.
