Anna Mae Joslyn Walker

walker_anna.jpg (4101 bytes)Anna Mae passed away April 10, 2008 in Caro, at the age of 94. Anna Mae was born May 26, 1913 in DeWitt, the daughter of the late Harry and Mary (Schafer) Reed. Anna graduated from St. Mary's High School in Lansing with the class of 1931. She was united in marriage to John R. (Jack) Joslyn in 1933.

Anna is survived by four sons and their spouses, Ronald and Jan Joslyn of Onekama, MI, James Thomas and Sharna Joslyn of Newcastle, Australia, Patrick and Judy Joslyn of Caro, and John Joslyn of Honor, MI. Anna will forever be known as "Grambo" to her seventeen grandchildren and twenty-nine great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, May 9, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in St. Johns with the Rev. Eoin Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in the DeWitt Cemetery in DeWitt at 3:00 p.m. The family is being served by the Rainsford Funeral Home of Caro.

Dorothy Ley

ley_dorothy.jpg (4510 bytes)Dorothy E. Ley died Monday, May 5, 2008 at the age of 87. She was born July 2, 1920 in Beal City, Michigan the daughter of Reuben and Frances (Henning) Hall and lived most of her life in the St. Johns area. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Ladies Altar Society; St. Dorothy’s Guild and was a volunteer at Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor for several years. She was a retired Sears and Roebuck manager. On April 16, 1941 she married Joseph Ley and he preceded her in death in November of 1971. She was also predeceased by a brother, John Hall, a sister, Shirley Barrett, two daughters, Sheila Ridge and Maureen Young and a son Dennis Ley.

Surviving is one son Douglas (Roberta) Ley; one daughter-in-law, Crystal Ley all of St. Johns; twelve grandchildren, Tammy (Randy) Ingalls, Kevin (Carol) Young, Shelli (Jock) Young, Scott (Theresa) Young, Kent (Maria) Ley, Calista (Mike) Hartenburg, Rob (Nevada) Borkowski, Janet (Bill) Baughn, Brian (Jenny) Hoeve, Todd Hoeve, Jackie (Jon) Thomas, and Nikki Ley; 30 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 109 Linden St. Johns with Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy as celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends 2-8 p.m. Thursday with a Rosary prayed at 7:30 p.m. at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns. Keith A. Mishler

mishler_keith.jpg (4081 bytes)Keith A. Mishler died Sunday, December 13, 2007 in Arizona at the age of 85. He was born July 20, 1922 in Hastings, MI the son of Ervin and Emma (Tasker) Mishler. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church; an U.S. Army veteran of WWII; Past Commander of American Legion Post # 153 in St. Johns; Past Chef-de-Gare of Clinton & Gratiot Voiture #868 of the 40 et 8; and Clinton County Chapter D.A.V. #64. Keith retired as Postmaster of the St. Johns Post Office on January 8, 1982 with 33 years of service. Keith married Kathleen B. "Kay" Vanden Bos and she survives him.

Also surviving are one daughter, Candice (Robert) Chapman of Lansing; one son, Toby (Jennalee) Mishler of Quincy, MI; two granddaughters, Kara Ann (Steve) Repseys of Crystal Lake, IL and Kristen Amanda Mishler of Ypsilanti, MI; one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Repseys; and one sister, Mary Elaine Mishler of Lansing.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church 109 Linden, St. Johns. Margaret "Maggie" Burke

On Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at the age of 90, Margaret Elizabeth Burke passed away in St. Johns, MI. She was preceded in death by husband James, son-in-law J. Michael O'Connor and grandson Kevin O'Connor. The Burkes lived, worked and retired in Lansing, MI. She and her husband built, owned and operated the Burkewood Motel for 20 years and were founding members of the Lansing Tourism Bureau. Later, Maggie worked in the computer center for the State of Michigan, House of Representatives. She was an active member of the Civitan Club, the Elks, and Clinton County Arts Council. For many years she enjoyed golf, bowling, and playing the organ. She became an accomplished artist in charcoal pencil drawing, watercolor and oil painting. She was a bright light of love and caring energy for all who had the pleasure to know her. She remained very active until age 86 and progressing into the advanced stages of Alzheimer's. However she never lost her endearing smile.

She is survived by her daughter, Roberta O'Connor of St. Johns, granddaughter Michelle and husband Greg, great-grandchildren Kevin, Mark, and Erica Teklinski of West Bloomfield, MI, and grandson Brian O'Connor and partner Michael Malone of Los Angeles, CA.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 109 Linden, St. Johns. A gathering of friends and family will follow at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, 1500 Waterford Parkway, St. Johns from noon to 2:00. Her final resting place will be in Charlotte, MI. The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer's Association, 107 Aprill Dr. Suite 1, Ann Arbor, MI 48103 or St. Vincent Catholic Charities, 2800 W. Willow St., Lansing, MI 48917. A heartfelt thanks to all of the dear friends who loved and cared for Maggie and Jim during their years in St. Johns.

Frederick Arlen Wallace

Frederick Arlen Wallace born February 15, 1952, passed away unexpectedly in a vehicle accident on May 2, 2008.
Fred was a dedicated employee of Sanches Construction for 30 years; a member of the Operating Engineers Local 324 since 1991; and a member of the Eagles. Fred's greatest pleasure was his grandchildren, family, and friends. He loved his work, the peace of the country, music, and motorcycling. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel, Elsie, MI on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at 11:00 AM. Rev. Ralph Barton will officiate. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2008, from 6-8 p.m. and Monday, May 5, 2008, from 2-8 p.m. with the family present 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
Frederick was born in Lansing, Michigan the son of Eulan Lankford Wallace and Phyllis June Dubendorf.

He is survived by Wife, Judy Wallace of Elsie, MI, Three Children, Kim (Priscilla Franco) Wallace of Lansing, MI, Renee (Martin) Castilla of Portland, OR, and Elaina (Roger Barton) Wallace of E. Lansing, MI. Ten Grandchildren, Kim Christopher, Michael, Alyssa, Frederick, Alvina, Sydney, Nico, Mauricio, Ashley, Ella; Two Great Grandchildren, Miguel and Daniel; Mother, Phyllis Wallace of Brooksville, FL; Two Brothers,: Kim (Sue) Wallace, Mark (Wendy) Wallace, Four Sisters, Diana (Tom Holder) Wallace, Gloria Tackett, Beth Willcutt, and Mary Wohlscheid. Numerouse aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is predeceased by father, Eulan Wallace and brother Mark Willcutt.

Patricia E. Teichman

teichman_patricia.jpg (3343 bytes)Patricia E. Teichman died Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at the age of 61. She was born May 12, 1946 in Troy, Michigan the daughter of Herbert and Dorothy (Knoll) Houghten and lived most of her life in St. Johns. Patricia was a 1964 graduate of Rodney B. Wilson High School, in St. Johns, attended the First United Methodist Church and loved animals. She worked for several years in the St. Johns Cablevision office. On June 30, 1990 she married Gregory Teichman, and he survives her.

Also surviving is her father Herbert Houghten of Houghton Lake, MI and Fort Myers, Fl and brother Paul Houghten of St. Johns and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns with Pastor Tyler M. Barlage officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society 7095 W. Grand River Ave., Lansing, MI 48906.

Joseph T. Clark

clark_joseph.jpg (4780 bytes)Joseph T. Clark age 90 of Holmes Beach, Florida and Houghton Lake, Michigan, passed away on April 16, 2008.

A Memorial Service will be held on May 9, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at the Elsie United Methodist Church, Elsie, Michigan. Friends and relatives may visit with Joe's family from 12:00 – 1:00 P.M.

Joe was born in Elsie, Michigan on August 15, 1917. He lived in Michigan for his first 55 years where he had his own business. Joe loved cars and trucks, so he started selling General Motors trucks and in 1955 changed to a Ford Motor Co. dealership until he retired in 1972. After retirement, he and his wife made their home in Holmes Beach, Florida for six months, and at Houghton Lake, Michigan the other six months. While in Florida, his love of people and community led him to fix and sell bicycles to people vacationing on Anna Maria Island. In that way, and becoming a licensed real estate agent, he touched the lives of many people from all over the world.

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth M. Clark, daughter Sue and Rich Bakita, grandsons: Keary and Jamie Bakita, and Bret and Jennifer Bakita and 3 great grandchildren; Micayla, Abagail and Nicklaus Bakita. He was preceded in death by his first wife Ilene (Vaniman) Clark, daughter Lea Clark, 2 sisters Catherine Simpson and Margaret Onstott and 1 brother Lewis Clark.
