Evelyn M. Underwood In loving memory of Evelyn M. Underwood, who left us to be with her Lord on May 11, 2008 at the age of 85. She was born in Mecosta County, April 10, 1923, the daughter of Bruce and Amelia (Simon) Kirvan. She was a member of the Maple Rapids Methodist Church, United Methodist Womens Fellowship, AMICA Club, The Rebekahs, the Red Hat Society and worked at Carson City Hospital as a Ward Secretary and volunteered in the hospital gift shop. Evelyn married Merwin Oak Underwood on December 24, 1942 and he preceded her in death in February 27, 1989. Evelyn was not only a social butterfly, who touched the hearts of all who knew her, she also volunteered countless hours in the community. Surviving are children, Elaine (Dan) VanEtten of Fowler, Leda (David) Thelen of Dewitt, Linna Leslie (friend, Mike Quick) of St. Johns, Jan (Bob) Myers of Perrinton, Carol (David) Avey of Fowler, Wayne (Denise) Underwood of Maple Rapids, Fred (Cheryl) Underwood of Meredith, nineteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, sister, Joyce Stoddard of Maple Rapids, brother, Gordon Kirvan of Cadillac, sisters-in-law, Maple Hicks of Maple Rapids and Lorraine Wright of Fowler, brother-in-law, Robert Underwood of Fowler and many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ione Riley and brothers, Wayne and Alden Kirvan. Funeral Services will be held at 1 P.M., Friday, May 16, 2008 at Maple Rapids Congregational Church with Pastor Kathy Leydorf officiating, entombment at the Payne Cemetery Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Wednesday, 6-8 P.M. and Thursday, 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. at the Abbott Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes, 509 E. Main St., Maple Rapids. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorials to the Maple Rapids United Methodist Church. Shirley Jolls Jonathan K. "Big Jon" Fedewa died Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at the age of 30. He was born July 10, 1977 in Carson City, Michigan the son of Ken and Theresa (Cornwell) Fedewa and lived all his life in Mid-Michigan. Jon was a 1996 graduate of St. Johns High School and achieved his Bachelors of Arts Degree from M.S.U. in 2000. He was a member of the Survivors Motorcycle Club in Lansing and loved music especially playing guitar and giving guitar lessons. He was an employee of M.S.U. in the Physical Plant. Surviving is his mother, Theresa (Roger) Wells of DeWitt; father, Ken (Roxane) Fedewa of Fowler; two sisters, Beth Nathan of St. Johns and Aimee Jones of St. Johns and fiancée Troy Opdycke of Shepherd; two brothers Josh (Rachel) Fedewa and Patrick Fedewa all of Chicago, IL; his girlfriend Julie Weber of Lansing, three nieces, Lexi, Skylar and Ireland; his closest friend Brian Lillie "BL" of Traverse City and his dog Sonny. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church 109 Linden St. Johns with Rev. Fr. Dwight Ezop as celebrant. Cremation will take place after the service. The family will receive relatives and friends 1-8 p.m. on Friday with a Vigil Service at 7:30 p.m. at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns 989-224-4422. Parks-Lounds Victor William Sipley, born October 2, 1935 in Olive Township, Clinton County, MI; died May 5, 2008 at the age of 72. Victor was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Eleanor J. (Hempsted) Sipley; and special friend, Jo Ann M. Ashley. Surviving are his 2 nieces, Nancy House, Sara Smith; 1 great-niece, Rachel House; sister, Leona (Paul) Ramsey of DeWitt; and special friends, Russel (Connie) Bauerle of DeWitt. Victor was a full time farmer and enjoyed all outdoor activities including fishing, hunting, and gardening. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 9, 2008 at 2:00
p.m. at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E. Washington, DeWitt, MI, with the Rev.
Dr. Richard Cole officiating. Interment will follow in Wilsey Cemetery, DeWitt. The family
will receive friends at the Chapel Thursday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. |
