Duaine E. Durbin
Duaine E. Durbin died June 30, 2008, at the age of 74. He was born in Carson City on April
22, 1934. He was a retired Oldsmobile employee. Duaine married Harriet Evans in Carson
City in July 1982 and she survives him.
Also surviving are his step children, Loren (Tammy) Huhn of Matherton, Sheila (Brian)
Bunker of Belding, Karla Huhn of Carson City; children, Linda, Traci, Patsy and Lanna;
many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Vergie OConnell and Dorothy
McAlvey; sister-in-law, Dick Durbin; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by
his parents, son, Lawrence Durbin, sisters, Margaret Helwig and Eloise Helwig and
brothers, Harold, Merlin and Robert Durbin.
There will be no services or visitation. Arrangements by the Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns.Dick F. Kentfield
Dick F. Kentfield, 79 of St. Johns, MI died Sunday,
June 29, 2008 at Sparrow Hospital. Dick was born April 10, 1929 in St. Johns, MI the son
of Raymond and Anna (Casper) Kentfield. He attended St. Johns Schools, was a veteran of
the U. S. Army, and retired from Sealed Power Co. in the early 1980s. Dick served as
a volunteer for St. Johns Fire Dept for many years. On June 17, 1953 he married Dolores
Thelen in St. Johns. She preceded him in death on July 1, 1994.
Dick was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Johns V.F.W.. He enjoyed
playing cards, fishing, motorcycle riding and especially being with his children and
grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Matthew (Annette) Kentfield of Elgin, IL, Edward
(Betty) Kentfield of St. Johns, Julie (David) Kochensparger of St. Johns and Barbara (Joe)
VanCourt of St. Johns; 10 grandchildren, Melissa Wilder, James Kentfield, Cortney
Kentfield, Nicole Kentfield, Ashley Kochensparger, Vanessa Kentfield, Jake VanCourt,
Michael Kochensparger, Justin VanCourt, and MaKensie Kentfield and a sister, Kay (Bob)
Frazier of Holt, MI.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Thursday, July 3,
2008 at 11:30 A.M. with Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Rest
Cemetery. The Military salute will be provided by the St. Johns Honor Guard. The
family will receive friends at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home on Tuesday and Wednesday, 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. both days. A Rosary
service will be held on Wednesday evening at 8:00 P.M. Memorials may be given to the
charity of the donors choice.
Betty Bashore
Betty Bashore age 85 of
Elsie, Michigan died Thursday, June 26, 2008 at Memorial Healthcare Center, Owosso,
Michigan.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel Elsie, MI on
Monday, June 30, 2008 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Gary Hawes will officiate with burial at
Riverside Cemetery Elsie, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 29, 2008 from
2-8 P.M.
Betty was born in Oakley, Michigan on June 6, 1923 the daughter of Earl and Bernice (
Wickham ) Dunham. She was raised by her father and stepmother Earl and Nida Dunham. She
was a life long resident of Elsie, Michigan and graduated from Elsie High School with the
class of 1941. Betty married Galen Bashore on October 12, 1945 in Elsie, Michigan. He died
on October 13, 2007. Betty was a homemaker and a hair dresser. She loved spending time
with her family and grandchildren. Betty was also a past 4-H Leader, taught sewing classes
at Ovid-Elsie and she decorated cakes. She loved flowers, cooking and baking. Betty was a
member of Duplain Church of Christ, St. Johns, Michigan.
She is survived by 2 sons; Bruce and Barbara Bashore of Florida, Gary and Beverly Bashore
of Hastings, MI, 2 daughters; Diana and Jerry Guyski of Owosso, MI, Deb and Randy Hunt of
Elsie, MI, 10 grandchildren; Daisy and Wesley Schafer, Betsy and Chris McCall, Tracy
Bashore Clint Bashore, Thomas Bashore Kathryn and Jason Fries, Jenae and Gary VanEffen Dan
and Becky Guyski, Matthew and Tina Byrnes Hillary and Nick Fabus, 14 great grandchildren,
half sister Sally Hintz, and half brother Larry Pesda. She is predeceased by her parents,
stepmother, husband, granddaughter Kimberly and 2 infant brothers.
Memorials may be made to The Smile Train, 41 Madison Ave., 28th Floor, New York, NY 10010,
an organization to benefit infants with cleft lips, or a charity of the donor's choice.

Marjorie Joan Fedewa
Marjorie Joan (Stechschulte) Fedewa, age 74, of DeWitt,
passed away Sunday, June 22, 2008, in DeWitt. Marjorie was born Aug. 31, 1933, in Owosso,
the daughter of Marjorie and Rudy Stechschulte. Preceded in death by son, Eugene. She was
one of four children and is survived by her siblings, David Stechschulte of Owosso,
Margaret Stechschulte of Adrian and George Stechschulte of Macomb. Marjorie graduated from
St. Lawrence School of Nursing in Lansing in 1955 and worked for St. Lawrence Hospital's
labor and delivery, nursery and post-partum units before working the next 43 years with
the American Red Cross blood program. She was proud to have been one of the first nurses
to use the blood plasma pheresis machine.
Marjorie is also survived by her husband, William A. Fedewa, whom she married Oct. 3,
1959, in Owosso; daughter, Mary M. Fedewa of DeWitt; sons, Daniel (Jackie) Fedewa of Grand
Ledge and James Dennis Fedewa of DeWitt; granddaughters, Molly Ann and Hope of Grand
Ledge; and numerous nieces and nephews in Owosso, Macomb and Lansing areas.
Joan was a very caring and loving person who worked hard on championing handicapped
person's rights. She cared for and loved her handicapped son, James Dennis for 39 years.
Joan was a person who saw the best in every individual and brought out the best
characteristics of any human being. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed by
more than her immediate family. Individuals such as her bring out the best in every
person's soul of what a caring person can be and do in our world. Marjorie
enjoyed spending time with her friends, Thelma VanEpps, Margie Sanislo, Sally Ryan, Pat
Davlin, Marilyn Alexander and Mina Greco-Hall. She also loved oil and watercolor painting
and traveling.
Marjorie was very grateful for her goddaughter, Dr. Susan Fedewa, for helping with her
care over the last years of her life; as well as the staff of Prestige Pines and In-House
Hospice.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, at the Catholic Community of
St. Jude, 801 N. Bridge St., DeWitt, with Monsignor Robert Lunsford as celebrant. The Rite
of Committal will follow in DeWitt Cemetery. The family will receive friends at
Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E. Washington, DeWitt today from 4 to 8 p.m. with the
Rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.
In lieu of donations, Joan requested acts of kindness for someone in need of help or care.
If donations are still wished to be given, contributions may be made to the family and
will be used for the James Fedewa Trust Fund.
