Myrtle E. Salisbury Parker

parker_myrtle.jpg (4045 bytes)Myrtle E. Salisbury Parker passed away peacefully in her home of almost 93 years surrounded by friends and family on July 28, 2008. She was born on July 31, 1915 on the farm in Bingham Township, Michigan, the daughter of Arthur and Cora (Haynes) Salisbury. She was a life-long resident of Bingham Township, graduated from Rodney B. Wilson High School in 1933 and earned a B.A. from Michigan State College in 1939. After graduation she had a career as a social worker for the State of Michigan in Clinton County and retired after 40 years. She married Bob Parker after her retirement; he died in 1995. Her passions included traveling and her beloved dogs and cats. Winters were enjoyed in Florida with her cousin, Don A. Haynes who predeceased her in 2006. She was a member of Pilgrim United Methodist Church and the Evergreen chapter of the O.E.S. #334.

She is survived by her wonderful neighbors and several cousins. The family has deepest appreciation for the compassionate care she received from her primary care giver, LeAnne.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 31, 2008 at the Osgood Funeral Home, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery with Rev. Ken Bremer officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorials to Great Lakes Hospice.

Sharon M. "Sherry" (Brown) Henderson

"Sherry" Henderson, age 65, died Sunday July 27, 2008 after a courageous 6 year fight with ovarian cancer; born January 2, 1943 in St. Johns, Michigan to Winchell and Mildred (Dunay) Brown. Sherry was a member of the Ya Ya Chapter of the Red Hat Society, Wharton Center Act I Docent, DeWitt Library Group, Holt United Methodist Church and Ovations (Ovarian Cancer Foundation).

Surviving are her two sons, Mark Conn and Todd (Nicky) Conn; beloved grandmother to Averie, Evan, Kevin and Grace. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce K. Henderson whom she married August 11, 1973 and her parents, Winchell and Mildred Brown.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 30th, 10:00 a.m. at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E. Washington, DeWitt with the Rev. Dr. Glenn Wagner officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns. The family will receive friends at the chapel Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. Those desiring may make contributions to the Sparrow Foundation, Regional Cancer Center Fund, P.O. Neil Douglas Puetz

Neil Douglas Puetz of Allegan, died Friday, July 25, 2008 in Iowa. Neil was born March 11, 1954 in St. Johns, Michigan, the son of Leonard and Nancy (Black) Puetz, who survive. Neil worked as a Equipment Supervisor for U.S. Trackworks in Moline, Michigan for the past 20 years.

Surviving are his wife, of 34 years, Ellen (Goerge) Puetz of Allegan, 5 children: Jeremiah of Eureka, MO, Mark and Shannon of Dewitt, Michael, Jeffrey and Kathryn (Katie) all of Allegan, 2 grandchildren, Chloe and Gabriel, his brother, Craig and Kendra of Iowa, his sister, Alice and Kevin Irwin of New Jersey, many nieces, nephews and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his brother, Brian, his niece, Molly and his granddaughter, Hailey.

Friends may meet with the family on Wednesday from 6-8 pm at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where the Memorial service will be held on Thursday at 12 noon, Rev. Fr. Alan P. Jorgensen will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Lacks Cancer Center, Hope House.

Hubert A. "Oz" Francis

francis_oz.jpg (4799 bytes)Hubert A. "Oz" Francis, 79, passed away Monday, January 28, 2008 at his home in Palm Bay. Oz, a longtime Michigan resident, was born August 8, 1928 in Grand Rapids, MI. He was a Merchant Marine veteran of WW II and a Army veteran of the Korean War. He belonged to the VFW and American Legion.

In Michigan Oz was a proud crane operator and member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 324 for 50 years. He was a Shriner, a 32nd degree Mason and Past Master of F&AM Lodge 105. He thrilled hundreds of children each year as Santa Claus, giving so much. He was an avid golfer, joker, prankster but most of all a man with a heart larger than life itself.

Oz will be missed and always remembered by his wife of 35 years, Mary Ellen, his children Bill Francis, Paul Wisenberg, Kathryn Courteau, Karen Herbers, Cindy Ridge, Brenda Francis, his eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren, his sister Rose of Benzonia, MI and many adoring nieces and nephews.

There will be a memorial service at the Masonic Temple, 915 W. State St., St. Johns on Friday, August 1, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607-1460.

Funeral Services will be held at South Church of the Nazarene, 401 W. Holmes Road, Lansing, Michigan 48910, on Monday, July 28, 2008 at 12:00 P.M. Rev. Dr. Harold DeMott will officiate A Graveside Service will be held at Inland Cemetery, Benzie County, Michigan on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 27, 2008 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel and on Monday, July 28, 2008 from 10:00 A.M until the time of service at 12:00 P.M. at the South Church of the Nazarene, Lansing, Michigan.

Linda was born in Lansing, Michigan on June 30, 1960, the daughter of Frank and Patricia A. (Clark) Deemer. She graduated from Waverly High School in Lansing, Michigan with the class of 1979. She was employed at the Sheraton Hotel Lansing, MI., for 21 years. She loved her Sheraton family. Linda enjoyed reading, making latch hook rugs and she especially enjoyed taking care of her horses with her father. She was actively involved in South Church of the Nazarene children's ministry. Her contagious smile and love of life led to her fighting spirit throughout her many struggles. Linda was an inspiration to many.

She is survived by her parents Frank and Patricia Deemer of Dewitt, MI, a sister, Nancy and Jeff Merrill of Lansing, MI, two brothers, Wayne Deemer of Lansing, MI, Bryon and Judy Deemer of Lansing, MI, 3 Nieces, 2 Nephews, many aunts and uncles, and her devoted dog Candy.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Sparrow Home Hospice or to the South Church of the Nazarene, Lansing, MI. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Sparrow Hospice, nurses, her church family and Sheraton family.  The family is being served by
