Jean E. Eaton Jean E. Eaton, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at the age of 89. She was born in Clinton County on May 22, 1919 to Arthur and Iva (Crampton) Bullard. Jean was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ionia. She married Justin Eaton in 1937 and he preceded her in death on January 25, 1986. Surviving are two daughters, Linda Hallead of Ionia, Marsha (James) Sonday of Grand Ledge, two grandsons, Matthew (Kelli) Hallead of Zeeland, Stephen (Amy) Hallead of Rockford, one granddaughter, Denise (Jeremy) Holbrook of Flint, two great grandsons, Zachary and Owen Holbrook, two great granddaughters, Alexis Hamilton and Avery Hallead, two sisters-in-law, Alice Bullard and Dorothy Bullard and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 24, 2008 at South Bingham Cemetery with the Rev. Gerald Severs officiating. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Ionia. The family is being served by Osgood Funeral Home. Leonard G. Race Arlo N. Devereaux, age 85, died Monday, October 20, 2008 surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 29, 1923 in DeWitt, Michigan the son of Frederick and Patience (Huntoon) Devereaux and lived most of his life in the St. Johns area. Arlo was an Army veteran of WWII and a member of V.F.W. Post # 4113 and American Legion Post # 153 in St. Johns. He was a member of Clinton & Gratiot Voiture #868 of the 40 et 8, TOPS #1528 and was active for over 35 years with the Boy Scouts of America. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved going to auctions and traveling and enjoyed gardening and working around his yard. He was retired from General Motors working for many years in plating. On June 1, 1968 he married Margaret Hetzer and she survives him. Also surviving is one daughter, Sheila Mowery (Michael Cooke) of Grand Ledge; two sons Larry (Diana) of Detroit and Rick (Colleen) of Wacousta; two step-daughters, Kathy (Dave) Schlee of Charlotte and Linda (Jerry) Myers of Lebanon, MO; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Dow, Raymond and Donald and two sisters, Frances Cole and Alma Pierce. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Friday, October 24, 2008 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns 989-224-4422 with Pastor Kathy Leydorf officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by the St. Johns Honor Guard. The family will receive relatives and friends 2-4 and 6-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Hopko, 79 died October 16, 2008. Funeral services will be held at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, Monday, October 20, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. Juan Ochoa "Pops" Romero was born on February 28, 1926 and went to be with the Lord on October 13, 2008. His wife, Rosa Delina Romero, preceded him in death. He is survived by his children, Rachel (Felipe, Jr.) Garcia, Israel (Virginia) Castro, Daniel Romero, David (Estella) Romero, Noemi (Gabriel) Romero, Augustine (Maria Concepcion) Romero, Jessie (Heather) Romero, Angel (Christina) Romero, Esther (Daniel) Palacios, Juan Romero Jr.; 47 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren. Juan was a God-fearing man who read his bible daily and loved his family very much. He loved fishing, gardening, and working. A longtime employee at Andy T's Farms, Pops taught many how to work in the fields and was well known for his predictions of hurricanes, heavy rains and good or bad winters. His wish to pass in the fields did not come to pass however he went to be with his maker during the harvest moon. Juan lived life to the fullest and was loved by everyone who knew him. We love you and will forever miss you. We will hold you in our hearts forever. 86, of Ashley, MI died Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at Carson City Hospital, Carson City,
Michigan. Aleatha was born in Corunna, Michigan on February 9, 1922,
the daughter of Lee and Beatrice (Stilson) Stewart. She married Karel Charlie Kostal and
he predeceased her. Aleatha lived in the Ashley area most of her life and was a homemaker
who enjoyed reading, cooking and her grandchildren. Clara Virginia Grubaugh, age 87, of Elsie, MI, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor, St. Johns, MI. Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel Elsie, MI on Friday, October 17, 2008 at 1:00 PM. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery Elsie, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2008 from 2-8 PM. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie, MI. Clara was born in Clinton County, Michigan on May 27, 1921, the daughter of Orin and Della Viola May (Mead) Tabor. She graduated from Bannister High School with the class of 1939. Clara married Loren Grubaugh on December 8, 1940. He passed away on September 7, 1983. Clara resided all of her life in the Elsie area. Clara was a devoted mother and friend. She loved gardening, baking and cooking. Clara had a compassionate heart for others and always put others first. She never complained and always tried to see the bright side of things. Clara was a kind and gentle soul. She is survived by sons; Bruce and Jean Grubaugh of Maple Rapids, MI, Phillip and Nancy Grubaugh of Swartz Creek, MI, Ron and Mary Grubaugh of Bannister, MI, Brent and Kay Grubaugh of Ovid, MI, daughter Loreen and Everett McAllister of Elsie, MI, sons; Lee and Lynette Grubaugh of Elsie, MI, Mark and Barb Grubaugh of Elsie, MI, and Lynn Grubaugh of Elsie, MI, 26 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, 3 dear sisters-in-law; Margaret Grubaugh of Elsie, MI, Frances Grubaugh of Midland, MI, Ruby Parks of Ovid, MI, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, 2 sisters, Fannie Bishop and Hazel Baxter, also her brother and her dearest friend, Burton Tabor.
