Robert W.
"Bert" Devereaux Robert W. "Bert" Devereaux, 87 of St. Johns, MI formerly
of DeWitt died Monday, December 22, 2008 at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan. Bert was born
January 24, 1921 in DeWitt, MI the son of Lynn and Bessie (Monroe) Devereaux. He was a
veteran of the U.S. Army in WW II and worked at General Motors in Lansing and retired
after 26 years of service. On Nov. 8, 1947 he married Stella Miller; she preceded him in
death in 1976. On June 30, 1979 he married Helen Tarrant in Lansing. Bert enjoyed playing
golf, being on his John Deere tractor, loved to tinker, be with his family and dogs. He
was a member of Local 602 U.A.W. and past member of St. Johns Knights of Columbus and more
recently a member of The Holmes Road Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife Helen; sons Robert (Beaty) of
St. Johns, Gary (Brenda) of North Carolina, Chris, and fiancé Lori, Todd (Lorie) of St.
Johns; daughters, Linda (Gordon) Harris, and Jayne (Jim) French of St. Johns; a step son
Myrl (Lynda) Pierce of DeWitt and step daughter Delaine Pierpoint of Lansing; 21
grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by daughter, Sharon
Bottom, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home on
Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Matt Olson and Rev. Marty Tarrant
officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends at
the funeral home on Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, 2-8 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to

Thelma E. Harrington
Thelma E. Harrington passed away December 21,
2008 at the age of 90. She was born January 12, 1918 in Ovid, Michigan the daughter of
Archie and Sara Buck. Thelma edured some of the great tragedies of life including divorce
from her first husband followed by the tragic and premature death of second husband, John
Angell, leaving her to raise four children on her own. Later she met and married Lyle
Harrington and was able to experience many of the great joys of life, including that of a
large and loving family of numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great
grandchildren.
Thelma and Lyle enjoyed a long retired life spending winters in Florida and summers in
Michigan. With the passing of Lyle in 2005, Thelma required skilled care. She had the
great good fortune of receiving an excellent level of professional care from loving
granddaughters, Michelle (Dan) Selleck, (Selleck Haven) and Mary (Mike) Chaffee,
(Creekside Manor).
Surviving her are children, Larry (Thelma) Schultz, Carol (Don) Corwin, James (Michelle)
Angell and daughter in law, Joanne Schultz. She was preceded in death by son, Robert
Schultz.
A private burial will take place with a Memorial Service being held 11:00 a.m., Monday,
January 12, 2009, at Lakeview Baptist Church, 9580 M 46, Lakeview, MI, 48850, with
Pastor Zane Abberger officiating. The family is being served by the Osgood Funeral Home.
David James
McCaffrey
David James McCaffrey, age 59, of St. Johns, passed away on Friday, Dec. 19. David was
born on March 18, 1949, to James and Marie McCaffrey of Owosso. David served in the United
States Navy during the Vietnam War. After serving in the Navy, he drove semi-trucks for 25
years.
Cremation has taken place, and services are to be planned for a later date.
David is survived by mother Marie McCaffrey of Owosso; wife Darlene of St. Johns; Robert
Jones of St. Johns; son Scott David McCaffrey; daughter-in-law Nancy Marie McCaffrey; only
granddaughter Elizabeth Marie of Corunna; daughter Angel Kay Wagner of St. Johns; sisters
JoAnn Akins of Kalamazoo, Judy (Bob) Craig of Owosso and Marilyn (George) Miller of
Owosso; and his nieces and nephews.
David lived a hard life but was a good man. He was loved by many and will be missed by
many. The family was served by the Nelson-House
Funeral Home.
Kenneth John
Blonshine
Kenneth John Blonshine, 92, died December 19, 2008. Kenneth
was born June 20, 1916 in Battle Creek, Michigan, the son of Raymond and Maude (Shimmel)
Blonshine. He was a retired tool and die maker with Melling Forge. Kenneth married Eleanor
Huss, February 16, 1974 and she survives him.
Also surviving are his daughter, Peggy (Louie) Klimecky of
Lansing and son Gerald (Karen) Blonshine of Greenville. Kenneth is also survived by his
stepdaughter, Valarie (Terry) Johnson of St. Johns, 8 grandchildren, 16
great-grandchildren, and sister Virgiline Fry of Lansing. He was preceded in death by his
brother, Ray "Mick" Blonshine.
According to Kenneth's wishes, there will be no viewing or
funeral services as he will be cremated. Arrangements by the Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns.
Kenneth Earl Wicke
Kenneth Earl Wicke, age
80, of Remus, Michigan, died Friday, December 19th, 2008 at Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical
Center, Saginaw, Michigan. A Memorial Service will be held at East Washington United
Brethren Church, Ashley, Michigan on Monday, December 22nd at 11:00 A.M., Pastor Jerry
Drummond will officiate. Kenneth was born in Brady Township, Michigan on April 4, 1928,
the son Ernie and Locele (Harris)Wicke. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Kenneth
moved to Florida 27 years ago and moved back to Remus 2 years ago. He was a member of the
C.B. Club and was a retired truck driver for the Lake News Newspaper in Florida.
He is survived by 4 daughters, Patricia Perez of Lansing, Michigan, Theresa and Ron
McElhaney of Remus, Michigan, Sandra Boulis of Ashley, Michigan, Donna Wicke of Haslett,
Michigan, 2 sons Rex Irons of Ft. Meyers, Florida and Bruce Wicke of Falls City,
Washington.
Kenneth was predeceased by his parents, 2 grandchildren, Cory and Judy and 1 sister
Elaine. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society .

Lawrence
W. "Larry" Klein
Lawrence W.
"Larry" Klein died Friday, December 19, 2008 at the age of 78. He was born
October 11, 1930 in Fowler, Michigan the son of Peter J. and Leonora (Schmitt) Klein and
lived most all his life in Fowler. Larry was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church
and a life member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and
a member of V.F.W. Post # 3733. He enjoyed playing cards and loved spending time with his
family. He retired from Fisher Body in 1990 with 39 1/2 years of service and he never took
a sick day during his career. On May 30, 1959 he married Carolyn Sefcik and she survives
him.
Also surviving are three daughters, Terese
"Terri" Sleep and special friend Alan Gove, Diane (Lee) Zuker and Nancy
(Charles) Perkins all of St. Johns; two sons, Charles (Lisa) Klein of Brighton and Joseph
(Tina) Klein of Holland; 11 grandchildren, Ben and Drew Sleep, Katie, Chris and Michael
Zuker, Jake and Rachel Perkins, Madison and Nicholas Klein, Nate and Clara Klein; one
brother Peter (Marguerite) Klein of St. Johns; three sisters, Annabel Schafer of
Westphalia, Monica (Martin) Pung of Flint and Therese Thelen of Lansing; sisters-in-law,
Mary Klein and Doris Klein both of Fowler. He was preceded in death by his parents, one
sister, Mary Elizabeth Schafer and four brothers, John, Paul, Philip and Charles Klein.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m.
Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fowler with Rev. Fr. John
Klein and Rev. Fr. Dennis Howard as Con-Celebrants. Rite of Committal will follow at Most
Holy Trinity Cemetery. Military honors provided by V.F.W. Post # 3733. The family will
receive relatives and friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday and Monday December 21 and 22 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St.
Johns. Rosaries will be prayed at 3:00 and 8:00 p.m. Sunday and 3:00 p.m. Monday with a
Vigil Service at 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to V.F.W.
Post # 3733 in memory of Larry.
Judy Bee Kares
Judy B. Kares, age 66 of Ovid (formerly of Laingsburg)
passed away on Monday, December 15th.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 22,
2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Watkins
Brothers Funeral Home in Laingsburg.
Judy was born on September 8, 1942 in Lansing, the daughter
of Lawrence and Bea Casteel. Judy was a graduate of Laingsburg High School and was retired
from General Motors.
She is survived by two sons. Mark Kares of Dewitt and Brad (Angela) Kares of Indianapolis,
IN, four grandchildren, Jocob, Joshua, Ashley and Dustin, two brothers Nate (Jan) Casteel
of TN and Bob (Brenda)Casteel of AZ. Memorials can be made to the Shisawssee County Humane
Society.
