Laurine Elizabeth Edinger
Laurine Elizabeth (Spitzley) Edinger, of St. Johns, MI formerly of Fowler MI, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother ended her earthly journey on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at the age of 93. She was born on June 21, 1916 in Westphalia, Michigan the daughter of Michael and Gertrude (Gross) Spitzley. On June 12, 1937 she married Martin Edinger and he preceded her in death.
She was also predeceased by her loving daughter-in-law Ann Edinger; ten brothers and sisters and their spouses, Michael (Rose) Spitzley, Louis (Olivia) Koster, Leo (Theresa) Spitzley, Elenor (Roman) Arnes, Edwin (Agnes) Spitzley, Irma (Art) Lehman, Hilda (Carl) Bollman, Pauline (Julius) Galvanek, Josephine (Julius) Wirth and Adelaide (Robert) Wirth; two brothers-in-law, Lawrence and James Edinger; three sisters-in-law and their spouses; Joan (Carl) Ernst, Mary Louise (James) Karber and Ruth Edinger.
Surviving is one son, Frederick Edinger of Marshall, MI; three daughters, Christine (Ray) Hamilton of Fowler, Sarah (Arthur) Miller of DeWitt and Rachel Edinger of St. Johns. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Scott (Teresa) Edinger, Lori (Jay) Fowler, Alaina Miller, Martin (Susan) Hamilton, Anthony (Angela) Hamilton, Rick (Pamela) Hamilton, Robert (Sherry) Hamilton, and Andrew Hamilton; thirteen great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Marcella (James) Edinger.
Laurine valued education and graduated with valedictory honors from Fowler High School. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Lansing Community College and received the Michigan State University Valedictorian Scholarship. She taught at St. Mary’s Elementary School in Westphalia and instructed Confraternity of Christian Doctrine classes for Catholic students at Fowler High School. She retired from Clinton Memorial Hospital in 1992.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM Friday, March 12, 2010 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fowler with Rev. Fr. Dennis Howard as Celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends 2-4 and 6-8 PM Thursday atKeck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns with a rosary prayed at 8:00 PM. Memorials may be made to Hospice for Clinton County P.O. Russell P. Lowe, Sr.
Russell P. Lowe, Sr., born March 5, 1933, passed away on March 7, 2010, two days after his 77th birthday. Russell was a veteran of the US Army, and retired from General Motors in 1991 after 26 ½ years of service. He loved fishing and camping. He was very talented with his wood working and did several craft shows. Russell was preceded in death by his son Richard Lowe.
Surviving are his loving wife of 53 years Ruth; daughters, Jeannine (Larry) Ames, Deborah Lowe; sons Russell (Vicki) Lowe, Jr., Ray (Jennifer) Lowe, Robert (Mary Ellen) Lowe, Ronald (Sharon) Lowe; daughter-in-law Tina (Richard deceased) Lowe; 21 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Duane Lowe, Larry Lowe; 3 sisters, Patricia Wiswasser, Rita Tarrant, and Linda Schaffer. Russell always had a warm smile and enjoyed his time with his grandchildren. Russell thoroughly enjoyed being with his wife, as with her, “life was good”. He will be missed by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E. Washington, DeWitt at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Bob Prange officiating. Interment will follow at Reed Cemetery, in Laingsburg. The family will receive friends at the DeWitt Chapel on Tuesday, March 9, from 5-8 p.m.
Richard J. Cronkhite
Richard J. Cronkhite died Thursday, March 4, 2010 at the age of 86. He was born June 9, 1923 in Rives Junction, MI the son of V. Guy and Anna Bell (Johnston) Cronkhite. Dick was an Army veteran of WWII and retired in 1985 from Consumers Energy Co. with 39 years of service. He also was the owner and operator of Cronkhite Electric in St. Johns. On August 30, 1946 he married Connie Novak and she survives him.
Also surviving is one daughter, Cathy (Gary) Caskey of Warroad, MN; three sons, James of Woodlands, TX, Bruce (Amy) of St. Johns, and Dean (Sarah) of DeWitt; six grandchildren, Jessica (Mike) Demianenko, Kristin Cronkhite, Courtney (Richie) Blair, Justin Cronkhite, Christopher Caskey and Benjamin Cronkhite; three great grandchildren, Zachary, Nicholas and Alyssa Demianenko; mother-in-law, Helen Skinner. He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Dale, two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held 11:00am Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Keck-Coleman Funeral
Home, St. Johns. Interment will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends 6-8pm Sunday and 2-4 and 6-8 pm Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of donor’s choice.
