City tournament heralds end of regular bowling season activities

Federal-Mogul captured the top two team divisions during the recent city tournament held

St. Johns area bowlers wrapped up their annual city association tournament Palm Sunday and after four days of tabulating scores and prize money the 175 participants learned of the winners.
Federal-Mogul (Thurs.) captured top spot for teams in both actual and handicap play while individual first place honors went to Wayne Gossett, All-Events (actual); Stan Bunce, All-Events (handicap); Jim Lance, Singles (actual) and Keith Harter, Singles (handicap).
First place doubles, actual and handicap was won by Tom Martin and Wayne Gossett, who was about the winningest kegler in the tourney. Gossett walked off with at least $77 in prize money and three trophies. His 1709 in the all events category was seven better than second place Dave O’Dell’s 1702 and his 1921 in the handicap all-events topped Terry Bacon by 10.
