No sooner had the nine plus inches of snow been taken care of when the residents on N. Oakland St. were hit with yet another storm system.
This time the Jet Stream went back to Canada where it belongs, and the southern winds blew into Michigan causing extreme melting of the accumulated snow. Temperatures reached 56° Saturday evening. It also brought with it thunderstorms and what seemed to be a couple of inches of rain. It’s hard telling how much we really got because homeowners turn their rain gauge glass tube over in the winter to prevent freezing.
A news report says the residents of the Johnella subdivision, which is west of the 900 block of N. Oakland St., experienced water in their basement Saturday and in some cases, sewage.

The St. Johns DPW has been working on the problem that turned out to be right at their front door below a drainage ditch. Extensive digging went on into the night and continued through Tuesday.
Residents who called the city about water in their basement are being told to put the water damaged items out by the curb for pickup.
