Band Corner

Amanda Thelen Voss was born In Lansing and grew up in Westphalia. She graduated from Pewamo-Westphalia High School with the Class of 1999, she played in the band all through junior high and high school.

Michigan State University was the college of choice, and she graduated in 2004. A true Spartan, she was a member of the Spartan Marching Band for 4 years and participated in Campus Band.

Her hobbies include reading, writing fiction, theater, cooking/baking, movies, gardening and playing with her cats.

Amanda is married to her husband Jason, and they are expecting their first child.

What does she like best about the band? Amanda likes the music and being a participant in creating the music. She enjoys the challenge of making it sound good, be it on her own or in a group.

“I also like the people for there is a quirkiness and sense of fun about band people that you don’t find in too many other groups,” she adds.
