Dear SJ Indy People,
Seeing the picture of the W.M. Leucht & Son on the computer screen Jan. 22, 2009 brought back memories of our home town. Perhaps not having the people in the picture identified really is not surprising.
The girl in the picture looked familiar, but we could not remember her name. Of course, we knew John, the son of Bill Leucht (pronounced Light). He is the young man on the end in the foreground.
John was in our graduating class in June, 1934. He went to the University of Michigan for a couple of years and then came back to St. Johns to be associated with his father in this automobile business. He later returned to college and was graduated as an aeronautical engineer.
In later years John commuted between his home in California and St. Johns, Michigan.
There may be a very few people in the area who remember John and his sisters Martha and Lois.
