Band Corner

Meet Jody Smith, a coronet player with the Community Band.

Jody was born in Lakeview in Montcalm County and graduated from Lakeview HS in 1964. She graduated from MSU in 1990. She played trumpet in high school but ended up playing coronet in our band.

Jody’s hobbies include reading, ballet (as a spectator), band and travel. She and her husband, David, have a son, Darien, and daughter-in-law Char, daughter Daisy. They also have 3 grandchildren.

Jody says that what she likes best about the band is that she loves the trumpet section.
“Roy Davis and Dave Link are inspiring; and of course, Tess Link is a grand conductor. I also love having our very own Band Mom who makes sure we have our music, knows where we should be, etc.,” she adds.
